My goal is to build my city into a coffee table. I wanted something that I could drop modulars into as well as design my own. I also needed a train because what is a Lego city without a train. I'm currently working to modify the Hogwarts express to fit under my arch way. Soon I'll start adding lighting. I am now considering expanding the city and going away from the coffee table idea. I also sell Lego to fund the habit.8 points

Ok, it is the holiday lull... unless you chose to ship FBM this year! So, a diversion is in order. I have been planning on building a city for a while, and it is nearly time. To be honest, I resell lego just to fund my lego city account. Our basement is almost done, (I will start building new lego tables in January) and I have an area, not as large as I would like, but much bigger than nothing! So I am building a tiered city, using Eureka Springs, Arkansas as my inspiration It. It is built into the side of an Ozark Mountain, and it very "tiered". I would love to see all of your layouts for inspiration, so post them below! I will try to update my progress on here as I go. Here is a photo of our build area, that will move to be next to the new city. (side note: if anyone has a good strategy to get an 8 year old master builder to clean up after himself... I would love to hear it!)7 points

My feelings are that Favreau has a good sense for trusting what works (or will work). Robert Downey Jr made Iron Man (and IMO is largely responsible for the Marvel empire), but Favreau fought like hell to get him (when no one involved wanted anything to do with him). But I still believe that Filoni (with his sense/respect for Star Wars) is the secret sauce that makes it work.4 points

Another year... another kid. Same train. Mrs. Brickvoyeur is building the gingerbread house, while I get to finish up the Bakery and Post Office. Doubtful the Fire Station or Market make an appearance this year. The Cottage will eventually find its way to me for under $100 like all the other old Winter Village sets have.4 points

The pirates scene didn’t work for me logically. You’re a secret imperial mining operation with finite resources but you leave important transports unguarded? Pirates goal is usually to loot and sell cargo, not blow it up, right? How can a whole group of pirates each have a thermal detonator and not one of them carry a blaster? Why didn’t the pirates mine the road? Why didn’t the Empire have ties flying patrol in the air at the time? Ultimately it was a fun action sequence to watch but not something really thought out that well.3 points

I would watch the hell out of a Star Wars show where the Empire is the protagonist. Did you notice the swell of music when they pulled in, as the TIEs came raining down, and the stormies were saving the day? It was a very heroic sounding piece.2 points

First episode that I thought was well balanced. Mando actually did a lot of things and it did not feel like he was guest staring in his own show. Everybody got to kill / destroy something, even the Stormtroopers The guy who wrote and directed this episode (Rick Famuyiwa) should write and direct every other episodes. Per his imdb, he also wrote and directed the prisoner episode which was also one of the best from season 1.2 points

thanks so much for the set# AND descriptive words...After 2 years. I still don't know a single set# (and hope I never do)...always have to google it2 points

Built the corner garage on Monday/Tuesday and the Bookshop on Wednesday/Thursday. I like both builds and really notice the improved techniques in the modular line, especially for similar areas to other modulars, or when comparing to city mini builds. As blasphemous as this is: Green Grocer needs an update. The Garage feature is excellent (at least it's my son's favourite besides the fire truck) and is well designed. The rolling door is not for little hands though and the greebling was VERY annoying. I hope Lego figures out a way to take a similar set and make it a reverse corner in the future. I have 5 corner buildings which is enough. The Bookshop was a very strong build and I love the colours, but would like to see a little more work on the walls of the shop itself. The trees suck (and always have) and the corner garage tree looks stupid. The Bookshop is the nicer finished product but suffers like Pet Shop and Detective's Office with a half building each. A full floor bookstore would have been really cool. I am very thankful that they are full size buildings unlike the DO and BB. The best feature of both is that they don't have the stupid Diner staircase. Parisian Restaurant and Green Grocer still rank 1 and 1A for me. Bonus photo of the buildings around the tree this year with both Holiday trains (wall isn't done, but whatever). I hope to light them back up next year if my kid stops touches them .2 points

I got the majority of my 10813 inventory at 40$. With fees being 28$. It's a 100% increase which is fine. When I purchase inventory, there are certain sets I expect 50-100%. High volume small sets, give me 100% all day to the bank. This is a large set, terrible to store, fits 9 to a box. Essentially required palletizing it to make it economical to send in. I bought it with better selling expectations. I've been selling the small speed champions from last year at 40$ and the Ferrari's as high as 55. Both ranging from 200-300% in profit after fees. You can fit 108 in a box. Takes 10 boxes to send in 12-13k of inventory. The numbers for 10813 are laughable in comparison.1 point

We know from them driving past the other blown up transports that this wasn’t new. I think you’re being pretty generous with the writing, which in its defense, was rightly more concerned with character development this episode than action. These were completely undefended transports . . . They couldn’t even speed up to avoid being intercepted because their cargo would blow. They had a huge contingent of storm troopers at the base and literally one of them sitting atop a transport armed with a blaster would have been at least something in the form of protection. It was an action sequence for the sake of action sequences and it was fine for what it was in the context of the plot but the scene really could use a bit more thought in terms of logic.1 point

You guys are killing me. What are you aiming for if you're viewing 10813 and 10753 as losers, and how often are you hitting that target? I guess I could view 10753 as a loser since it only gave me a profit margin of 103%. It was no Pet Center, Whack, or Emma's Art Cafe, but if you're viewing sets like those as losers, you're working from a very skewed perspective. If I didn't know you'd been around long enough to know what you're doing, I'd say that you'll be in a rude awakening in the years ahead when the market calms down from COVID.1 point

Agreed. Basically Mando wasted a bunch of rebels. They basically had the same goals minus checking out the random terminal containing All Secrets. Not much to cheer for there...1 point

my biggest turd that i had to unload is juniors batman 10753. i thought this set would be $50-60 by now. still stuck in low $40s. not worth my time to sell them for that price didn't move 1. donated a few yesterday. if i'd been doing fba i probably would have sent in 50. i'd still say your plan worked out pretty well judging by your sales totals . agree that there is a perfect time to sell and that waiting until the end, especially this year when transport is stretched and restocking commences, has not been the right plan for me as well. last weekend price action was much better. FBM has been arduous but rewarding especially when you see strength on some listings, you have all the inventory at your disposal you need to unload but was hoping to see better FBM price action on others which did not materialize. my sales totals for nov and december are still higher than last year when i was 100% fba. i did 100% fbm out of concern amazon would not be able to fulfill with pandemic and demand but that was a major erroneous assumption. cie la vie.1 point

Stone Wars recently launched a monthly "best of" list of what's newly available or retiring from LEGO's Bricks and Pieces. It's a pretty cool feature that some of you who run Bricklink stores may find useful. September 2020 October 2020 November 2020 December 20201 point

Bro...when you see the alert; you pull the car over, tell the kids to walk and get on that deal... train your kids right and they know to just get out of the car and walk next time when they hear the alert (no words needed)...and they will be thanking you for slowing the car down.1 point

Mario Lopez cast as Colonel Sanders . . . in a Lifetime movie . . . called A Recipe for Seduction. Honestly, I'm posting this here to complain that we didn't have this cultural gem of finger-licking goodness before. The trailer alone is filled with extra-crispy intrigue.1 point

I just sold 10212 last night for $550.00. That was one of my favorite all time Lego sets to build. Great SNOT techniques, huge, impressive display size, interesting Technic gear train inside to fold up the wings...it's a really cool set.1 point
