  1. My 8 yo son has been playing ice hockey for almost 4 years now and loves it. He was doing really good and then COVID hit and obviously he took a few steps backward. Our regular rink went out of business because of COVID. So we started up at a new rink about 2 months ago. Next week, he’s playing in an in-house tournament. Which will be lots of fun. He’s definitely getting his groove back. The “I Love It” part is that he was just invited to join a newly formed team that will will be traveling out to Vegas in January! It should be a blast. Tourneys are so much fun at this age. It was great to hear his coach be interested, compliment his play and behavior on the ice, and take a strong interest in continuing to coach him.

  3. Ok so an update. LEGO found another keychain (says imported for LEGO Mexico on the box) and shipped it to me! It's freakin' heavy and completely awesome... couldn't be happier with their customer service! Good on ya LEGO.

  6. I was okay with them murdering millions of children under their 1-child law, and I was okay with them imprisoning and killing millions of people because they would not deny their God and bow down before their communist rulers. I was even okay with them harvesting organs from political prisoner and helping to rig a Presidential election. But ripping off a talented AFOL for profit, well that's just rude.

  13. Rakuten appears to be until 3am eastern - so there should be an overlap. I expect the low limits and my prior big ticket purchases will hinder my buying plans.

  14. I'm leaning towards the Batwing, because that was on my "to buy eventually" list... I think I'm going to pair it with myself using my backup email address that I sent my Rakuten referral to. I'm hoping the 10% cash back (today only which I'm wondering if it expires pacific time) stacks with the $40 welcome bonus I should receive for referring to my backup account and spending $40 or more...

  19. This is way more complicated then I could handle... Sorry I can't help here, maybe asking Ebay? since this is their GSP program. As a group of Little Timmy's competitor, what we want is simple: You pay, I ship, You got the toy, I got the money, Everyone is happy. That's the reason why I avoid international shipping, too much hassle to deal with.

  22. Went by my local Lego store today. Mountain of Dickens sets behind the counter. They were willing to hold some sets for me to pick up tomorrow. Plenty of Elf Workshops, a couple gingerbreads & firehouses. I held one of each. Piano, Diner, Batwing, Haunted House all in stock.

  29. This happens every year...Amazon gates certain sets around the holidays, but the gates are not universally applied. There are a bunch of sets that I'm gated on that other people I know aren't...it's just par for the course.

  30. I'm not sure we're getting any deals for the VIP weekend, I would of thought it would of been leaked by now if there were any. Unless Lego have been super secretive about it. Like you say New Zealand will show us if any pop up, think it's around 10.30 night there now so not long.

  31. Ordinarily I would probably jump on this a little bit but since I'm going to struggle to find things to purchase within limits this weekend I'll have to pass.

  39. Gotcha. The new Lego playbook when they need a sales boost. Pull some sets off next years avail. list. Grease the rumor mills and retirement lists. Make sets avail in dribs and drabs to ensure instant sellouts each time. Milk it till resellers are fully stocked. "change mind" and extend deadline for another year. Rinse. Repeat. Diners anyone?

  40. If it’s not a deal, please take it to the other forums. All this talk about the Bespin set and the status of your order should be in the Order Status thread. 41. Just a reminder to everyone - and this isn’t directed at any one in particular as we’ve all been guilty lately - this thread is for posting of deals. We’ve been lax with the cross talk lately, but as the holidays approach, and potential deals come around, let’s keep it to a minimum. Instead, I encourage you to check out all the other forums we have. There’s a topic for just about every set out there. And if there’s not, create one! We have topics on speculating what’s going to retire, investment strategies, clearance at individual stores. Please go check them out. Thank you!

  42. Update: I received the Lego Boost set in a Lego shipper in an Amazon box. I'm not sure if checking that "Ship in Amazon Packing" checkbox helped or not, but I'll keep it in mind next time I place an order for another set.

  43. I think it's more likely that interested buyers are taking their chances to wait for the upcoming VIP weekend and order it with double VIP and two promo's, instead of ordering it now and only get a meager poster.

  44. my daughter was like this too initially but honestly she grew out of the Friends stuff pretty quickly... I have a similar bulk lot waiting to be dug into but not sure when we'll ever look at it. the variety of colors used in the theme is refreshing though esp when you've been used to looking looking at blacks and grays all day with Star Wars.

  47. The Christmas Tree was not available online for me Also, my local Lego store didn't have the Christmas Tree but had the Nutcracker as the "Christmas in July" GWP instead I recall that there were several Brickpickers reporting that they managed to get the Christmas Tree at their local Lego stores for a very short period of time

  48. This weekend is just double points and the gwps. Pretty sure how it's been for awhile now. I mean I'm the one who posts the sales the last 5 years or so and that's the way it's been or how I remember it at least.

  49. I wanted to create a new thread in order to give progress on my site updates. I want explain a bit on what happened and what I am doing. What happened with the site? Honestly nothing really exciting or dramatic, overall in the end, I did not want to support the host I was with for the past four years after not really offering too much help with managed servers. They would spend 30 seconds looking, say they can ping the server so its up and then just say, "hey not my problem". I was on aging hardware, paying the same amount of money, so I took the opportunity to move to a new host with better/faster hardware and a staff that does help to support you when run into an issue that you can't handle on your own. I have been doing this a long time and pretty good monitoring and handling 99% of what comes my way, but there are issues that you need the next level up to help figure out what to do. I wasn't getting anything like that, but paying for it. Not anymore. What my goal is... I know more than anyone that the site needed some TLC. It's been a while since I have done any drastic updates, the site looked tired and I know the site can be so much better than what it's current state was. LEGO investing has changed since Ed and I launched the site and it's time to remove the dead content and bring more of what people are looking for. Below is the short term list of items planned for updating. I have been working on the nightly, just like the early days and enjoying seeing parts of it coming to life. Fix the login. This has been messed up and quirky for a while. This has been resolved and working well. It's a simple thing overall, but nice that it actually works how it's supposed to Overall price guide site design update. The site was tired and disjointed. I hated it and pained me to look at it. Time to start over. Brickfolio update. All the Brickfolio data is safe. I have close to three million rows of data for Brickfolio entries. Time to bring this thing to 2020. I will probably create another thread at some point to solicit some feedback on some new requests for the brickfolio Fix the data syncing with Brickset. A lot of people used this feature, but it's time to make it work the way it should. Later I will work on the content portions. The news and blogs. I have some good ideas for this, but want to get the price guide and brickfolio to you sooner than later. What I am asking for if possible... If you can, please stop asking where the brickfolio is. Again, the data is safe and I am working as fast as I can to bring it all back to you. It won't be a few days, but more like a few weeks, but it will be worth it. I setup my dev environment to push releases quick and easy. I want to create a true changelog so that you can follow updates to see what was done/fixed/new/removed, you know like what real software companies do. I really do appreciate your patience with this. It wasn't planned, but if there was going to be a time to do it, it was going to be now.
