  1. Contacted a Lego rep to get an update on the Frigate set. I spoke to John and he said that their team that works with Amazon are looking into this matter to find out what happened and to have it rectified. He said the last thing that Lego wants are upset customers who are not able to purchase particular sets because of resellers. I guess Lego has taken a lot of heat about this. John also said that according to his information, the set was not being sold exclusively by Amazon and that it would be available online at Lego Shop and other locations by the beginning of November. He did confirm that the set would only be available for purchase in the USA. He also confirmed that since the set was being sold direct to the public in lieu of the cancellation of the 2020 San Diego Comic-Con, that the quantity in production had been dramatically increased so that as many fans as possible will have the opportunity to purchase it. I am wondering if Amazon didn't actually sell out of the sets, but someone at Amazon just happened to catch the mistake and took down the link. Will be interesting to see if Amazon cancels or limits our orders and if they still have a large quantity in stock to sell come November.

  2. I was happy to find out I received one today in the mail! Sadly, I won't be getting Miles as I don't play videogames, but quite happy getting supergirl!

  9. One thing to realize is that those of us who are in a position to help are in that position because of the time we've put into this and the longevity of our efforts. I certainly had help along the way (I'm still hugely indebted to LegoFanTexas for one key piece of advice he gave years ago and Raven for...well...a bunch of stuff), but no one served everything up to me or anyone that I know on a platter. I'm happy to provide help, but it's unrealistic to expect me or Donbee or anyone else to spell out the specifics on what they're doing and how they're doing it. Besides, there is a certain "survival of the fittest" element to this...the history of this site is littered with people who dive in with great enthusiasm before getting bogged down and quitting because of the amount of work and effort it takes to be successful.

  15. You get paid for the shipping, but don't purchase the label directly. You get a label to ship to the eBay shipping center (similar to GSP), they do whatever they do there, then they (eBay) charge you for the label you got paid for. Edit: And yes, this all sounds like an unnecessary, costly step, but it's driving sales, so I'm happy with it.

  19. It's inevitable that you'll get some dodgy boxes with the Architecture line. I got some scuffed sets when ordering a factory carton. I can't fault the retailer in this case so that was solely on Lego's design decisions.

  21. You know, it can be a bad sign when you start talking to yourself. But, on the topic of the retirement list...as far as I'm aware, Lego doesn't release any type of official retirement list to the public. Unless you have inside information, the only sure fire way to tell is when sets show up as "Retired Product" or have a "Retiring Soon" tag on LEGO Shop at Home. Otherwise, you have to rely on the lists that various sites publish.

  22. I had the same ban from WM from 2018 to 2019. I was able to get a few orders through here and there during that time, but it was really inconsistent and I definitely missed out on some great deals. I haven't had an issue with multiple orders back to back since the quantity limits went in last year, but never really pushed it until last week and haven't had any orders cancelled yet. However, it is pretty clear (to me at least) that sourcing Lego through online retail is not likely to be a viable strategy over the long term if you're operating at any appreciable level of scale. If it weren't for Amazon intermittently loosening their quantity limits last year, I would probably have half as much inventory to sell this year. Even some of the secondary online retailers are starting to wise up and impose quantity limits. Between quantity limits, buying bans, and retailers going out of business, it's becoming a heck of a lot harder to operate at scale. I'm usually not one to fall for the "sky is falling" perspective, but, in this instance, I do believe that the days of sourcing large amounts of Lego through online retail are winding down (at least for now). Smaller scale operations don't have as much to worry about, but larger sellers will have to find alternate sources to tap into if they want to keep the gravy train rolling.

  23. My shipment from The Hut looks similar. A couple of mine have creases etc from transit but I will accept that as a cost given I got a large order of a retiring soon set below MRSP. I think it does show up more on the black boxes, but higher likelihood to end up like this from certain retailers. I don't think it is manufacturing as most architecture boxes direct from LEGO are in perfect condition. I find it difficult to complain about scuffs/scratches though (retailers are not advertising mint boxes) and not sure what difference the box condition will make in the end. I don't sell anything as "mint" because so easy for someone to complain that it isn't. These are still new and sealed and that is good enough for 99% of buyers. Just my view, but keep the best if you want to sell a few based on box condition and doubt you will have any problems with the rest.

  27. i was banned from online purchases walmart for almost a year - November 2018 through September 2019. that was back when you could order large quantities not just max 2. the final straw was 100x order of some $5.99 juniors set. after that all LEGO orders were cancelled. i finally just gave up and then tried again when the holiday sales roll around. you will get banned if you exceed their order limits unless you have jedi retail powers or are a big time player with some kind of old school account. i was also banned by barnes and noble during the same stretch after the very lucrative "honey code" sale for going over board. at this point, every time you place another order you are probably resetting your account reinstatement clock. i would stop trying to order from walmart - you clearly have pi$$ed them off by placing multiple orders to try and get around their limits. and you won't get your reset counter started until you give it a break. others will say they are able to order tons and multiples but these people have jedi retail powers. there is no one to call. they don't owe you an explanation. no one at walmart will admit to you being banned. the way to successfully avoid being banned by walmart after being reinstated is to not exceed the order quantity limits by placing multiples per day. i have had no issue ordering 2 sets of the same set day after day after day but if you go crazy and order multple orders of multiples in a short period of time you will be banned. target at this point is the one retailer i am able to order large quantities of muliples of in a reasonable amount of time frame but back to back to back orders again are discourage. if you must order multiples, do yourself a favor and use a stopwatch - say at 12 - 15 minute intervals between orders.

  29. What amazes me the most about brickvoyeur is his prowess and aptitude in how he finds clearance, Facebook and Craigslist deals. I live in area that is on the fringe and that sometime encroaches on his Lego territory and playing field. He has the advantage of living in closer proximity to these deals than I do. I am thankful for finding any scraps I can, and I have somehow managed to find a sweet spot among the friendly and fierce competition I face. Having friends in the right places does help that can rush to stores to get sets for me. Having said that, I am no actual competition for brickvoyeur because it is no contest. I am in awe of your Lego prowess and I salute you!

  38. So, let me get this straight. You are arguing that a company that innovates, employs probably tens of thousands and has worked hard for nearly 80 years is to be chastised because some of their product is marketed at a higher end price range? That opportunistic resellers (of which I am proudly one) are somehow more virtuous or less worthy of scorn than the company that makes what they do even possible? Really? That's the line you're going with? There are in fact some things that don't need to be said.

  39. Nobody cares about Timmy! This is business, like every other good or service. I'm sick of these idiots attacking resellers just because the product is LEGO. Grow up! Instead of attacking resellers that make 50% profit, they should attack LEGO for charging $350 for a few pounds of plastic. Who's the real scalper here?! F%&$ing morons! Sorry for the rant, just needed to be said.
