To get back on topic, I will share my opinion and reasoning behind sets I feel will yield good results. First up, super mario range. Being the “first wave” of the super mario theme, it’s these sets that will be short supply down the line and the originals that collectors and kids will want alike. Just look at first wave of minecraft sets now and there subsequent value. In addition, mario has been popular for the last 3-4 decades and that’s not going to change moving forward. Secondly and similarly the Lego minions theme. Being original first wave sets again, minions are a franchise that kids love and are very current. I can see how getting these at good discounts won’t lead you astray. Thirdly, Harry Potter. Harry Potter sets have been released and rehashed over the last 2 decades. Therefore, I personally believe there appeal as original pieces has faded. Nevertheless, the 3 fantastic beast films still to come out will keep Harry Potter/ magic current fir the foreseeable future. Personally, I’m not buying much Harry Potter as I think they will be the most hoarded by investors, with the exception of the Hungarian horntail set. As the original of this released in conjunction with the 4th film, performed really well. Also, it’s a dragon, so that helps! Next, gingerbread house. This set stands out within the winter village theme as it’s an adaption of an existing idea. It will appeal to Lego fans and Xmas fanatics. Not expecting to go for at least another year though, but if you have enough funds to store in long holds, get this whenever the discount is good. You will not go wrong when it disappears off the shelves. It will be a must have to new winter village theme fans in a few years that missed out now. Next Jurassic world, now this theme I feel will do well. I personally yielded great returns from getting the first indomminus rex set discounted from toysrus ( good times!) which was released with the first Jurassic world movie. While, I don’t think these sets will do aswell as those originals, ( if you haven’t noticed I’m very fond of getting first wave originals 😂) as there were sets released with second movie and additional ones now. Getting these at good discounts can’t go wrong. Dinosaurs, will always remain popular. In addition the exclusive t-rex set to Lego and Argos here in the uk, being the biggest Lego dinosaur ever released. I can only see this being a “must have” and very lucrative! Any way, that’s just a small insight to my consensus on some of the current sets available, il add others if people want to know (y). Yet this is all speculative and based on past success and experience.7 points

Then there's sites like BrickPicker, Info has been so valuable that Members have close to begged to make it a pay site(Granted that was when Brickfolio was active), but Here it is still Buck naked free and kicking out excellent investment advice (not just Lego) for those smart enough to decipher the input. Thanks Yall'5 points

For the members who are fairly new and dont' know this forum.. most of the longtime members here have provided fairly honest information. There really isn't much of the bs trying to hurt the competition here. From sharing codes/coupons for shipping materials, dealing with SNAD cases from ebay, walmart clearance, dealing with scammers, all the information I have received from posts or PMs have been immensely useful. For those who feel this forum is full of arrogant false spewing info, they should just go to another forum... my two cents... Also redcell is a koolkat!4 points

Yeah, he changed his BorderTerrier username to KiwiKing and then created a Tabitha Boyce account. He was in mod control after a couple days of his nonsense.2 points

There is a big difference between a person that just sells Lego strictly for profit and someone that sells mainly to support their habit/hobby. Before I was a member in here I was a very active member of another well known Lego group. Unfortunatly me posting pictures of massive hauls and selling to support my hobby had me on the wrong side of public opinion and thats when I was directed to this community. We have all types of members here which is good. Do I think Lego investing has changed in the last 12 years....sure it has. Lego is aware of it and reselling has helped grow the company. Thats why it trys to have its cake and eat it to. I still say the best way to enjoy this hobby is to have your Lego funds totally separate from your living funds. As in anything dont spend what you cant afford and buy sets that you wont mind having even if they dont sell.2 points

The forum has lost some quality members unfortunately and the world of lego-reselling has become opportunistic. When people start Youtube Channels to give "Patreon VIP advice" on LEGO reselling for money... pffff No wonder nobody's giving quality advice anymore. "We don't offer investing advice, but please pay us 10$/month and you'll get an exclusive tips on what sets to hoard..." ridiculous...2 points

I went golfing with the guys yesterday. Played ok/sorta but I really need to a lot play more. Not much better than Fall golf with some beers. The extended Summer season is winding down so we stopped to eat. We sat outside which was great overlooking the harbor but the dredge had arrived this week and was hard at work. Every once in awhile you'd get a nice whiff when the wind changed direction.2 points

Just my two cents but I don't see an issue with charging USPS retail rates, unless you're also charging a packaging/handling fee. Typically the difference in cost between USPS rates and the discounted shipping via Paypal accounts for packaging costs in my experience. The only way I'd see adding an additional fee is if you get high lot/low value orders, and need that built in just to make it worth the time it takes to pull an order. Some people are willing to pay a little extra for that, and if a seller is willing to take the time to do so I wouldn't fault them for it. For me, I'd rather set a minimum purchase and avg lot value to weed out orders that end up costing me money/time (not saying that's the case here, I don't know what this order looks like). Short story: $5 order with 5 lots $1 avg lot cost = not cool to add a fee $5 order with 50 lots $0.10 avg lot cost = I'd understand an additional fee Again, just my take on it (BL seller with over 1k orders). Sellers are certainly free to charge whatever they want and buyers will either support that or not. I also definitely agree it should be completely clear in the terms that the additional fee is on top of the retail shipping.2 points

if I'm thinking 5 years down the road...Roller Coaster may be the white whale for many who missed out....but like the ferris wheel, a roller coaster may get released again with contemporary improvements.1 point

How about making the site free, but it cost money to search or go back more than a week or so in posts? that way it rewards the regulars and help support the site. I would also add that regulars (metric to TBD) get 5 free searches a week. this was working for me ...until I started having over 10 of each set😖1 point

I dont have instant check out enabled. Problem i was having was that people were ordering big quantities, and instant checkout was keep on selecting the wrong postage method, not taking into account max parcel size of postage level etc. So I have it turned off, probably lose some sales, but had too many orders with lower postage selected, and always an uphill battle explaining to buyer wrong postage, so I just ate the difference.1 point

agree on gingerbread house love this set, i stack certain sets with retirement looming or not these are my 2021 major hit list. 1. Lunar Lander 2. San Francisco 3. Statue of Liberty (i'm worried how deep i am on this already & it could avoid retirement for a few years) 4. Gingerbread House 5.. Dino Fossils 6. Roller coaster1 point

From Factcheck.org.... Between 2000 to 2012 the total number of fraud cases was just 491. So that's 4 election cycles. About 60% of US population votes for prez. About 325 million people in US. That's about 190 million votes per cycle. 491 divided by 4 is 122. So on average (these are very rough numbers but even very rough numbers at least gives you an idea about the amount of fraud that happens) there is 122 fraud votes per 190 million votes. Less than 1 fraud vote per million votes. According to factcheck.org. Trump fears he's going to lose bigly and he's just setting the stage to try to contest the election. The man doesn't even know how to tell the truth so why believe him now. He even lies when he doesn't need to lie. Ok I'm done here. I know people's minds are made up already. But he's had his chance and he'd failed miserably. It's time for a new leader to take a turn. I'm ready for a leader with some compassion for others.1 point

A little late to the game but, after selling online for almost 10 years, I now use the Brother QL-1100 for all my label printing. I wished that I had bought it years ago. It runs just fine on generic labels, as long as it has the black box on them to tell it to cut. Oh, it also works with Mac. https://www.amazon.com/Brother-QL-1100-Postage-Barcode-Professional/dp/B079G51QTB/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=brother+ql-1100&qid=1602285590&sr=8-31 point

Well, there was this: "I will say this again nobody except the really high up members of the lego group know which set is going or coming, they are heavily guarded secrets. These people wont be posting on brickpicker or any other forums as it wouldn't be worth there time to do so." There's a difference between not revealing one's source and not having a source. Please don't misunderstand me...I was not going for "I'm a superior being" in my last post...that was 100% abrasive a-hole. Two things here. First, you sure spend a lot of time responding to words that mean nothing to you. Second, there is a certain irony in you bemoaning people trying to put others down on the internet while trying to put others down on the internet...well done on that one!1 point

Central Perk is around next year from what I've learnt. My source: 4 x SaH phone calls with 4 different operators. The ones that don't tell you usually say 'I don't have that information'. It makes sense as it's one of Lego's best sellers. I'd be very surprised to see it go. I'm more interested in knowing the fate of Harry Potter train, but that's been bugging me for months. Personally I think Lego haven't decided themselves yet, or only just recently.1 point

I'd return them. They listed the incorrect product number and what's the point in having them now.1 point

May I ask for your kind support (in the form of a "like") of a fellow brick lover's picture + mini-story called "Sewer Surprise" (for the current IDEAS Activity "Scary Photography") : "SEWER SURPRISE" (see picture below - the corresponding story is to be found here) : https://ideas.lego.com/activities/ce48ec35-a928-4946-9052-4ab7c40b9bc0/response/1bcbc316-4121-4495-86bb-4c63f4483ede (You might have to copy&paste the link) Thank you very much for your "like", comments on the Activity's page are also welcome! OMG pls stop. It's geographically impossible an island your size is large enough to fit two of you. Lurking for months and now suddenly 15+ daily me-centric posts with the constant eye winks, speaking in absolutes, doomsday scenarios, and 'secret' connections. Can we just get this over with and have you guarantee crypto will outperform LEGO in 2021?1 point

Unfortunately your argument is flawed. If the only people you will believe regarding lego EOL dates is lego, then we might aswell shut down brickpicker. There are people here who have some more info / data than the average Joe, its not always correct, but it does provide some hints / tips.1 point

Before this thread gets locked, can I just state here that I am sick and tired of Covid, riots, politics( both parties and candidates), the Russians, the Chinese, sports games without fans, Dr. Fauci, wearing masks, death counters, flies, excuses that things cannot be done because of Covid, NJ Governor Murphy, remote learning, bad bank hours, poor theatrical releases and having to use hand sanitizer 100 times a day. End of rant.1 point

One thing to realize is that the list of sets retiring is fluid throughout the year. There are typically a few specific points during the year when changes are made, but they can adjust their production/marketing schedule at any time like they did a few weeks ago with the Harry Potter sets. Unless you have a pipeline directly to the executives at The Lego Group who are making these decisions or someone else internal that has access to them, nothing is written in stone until a set can no longer be ordered.1 point
