  1. Got this box from best buy today. Had 8 Olafs in it... Could probably fit around 100 in the size box they sent it in. Was impressively hilarious.

  2. I want to be clear before I make my comment to let people know I am treading lightly before I say my peace. I've observed this season that there are folks on here that need extra reassurance that a set is retiring before they purchase it. It's as if their entire business will go under if the set they bought isn't retiring. I get it, I really do. You want to make sure that the sets you are putting on the shelf are gone as quick as possible. This is a bigger priority for the newer resellers than the veterans. My question is, if you're so unsure about a specific set, why not just wait a little longer to buy? "Well LegoSteve that's because that hard to find set will probably be unavailable to purchase in a few months if it actually is retiring." Ok then, if that set will goes poof then why not just buy another set, which is probably discounted unlike that hard to find set, that is also retiring and will probably have a quicker and higher ROI in the next 12-18 month? Right now I've got somewhere around 75 Hogwarts Express. Yeah I expected them to retire this year but the probably wont. Instead of lamenting over that I know things will be more than ok because I'll buy at least double that with my Q4 profits this year. Again, I know it's a little different for brand new investors because you need to turn that over quick but you shouldn't let these questions live in your head and take away any enjoyment your having as a reseller. Things will work out in the end. One last thing for the new resellers, why are you buying the sets that you are buying? Is it because others have told you what sets you should be buying or is it because you did your due diligence and decided on specific sets? I ask because there are sets I see new resellers buy that I wouldn't touch if this was my first year buying.

  3. Nice deal here - I just had to share. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-Star-Wars-Imperial-Drop-Ship-20th-Anniversary-Edition-Play-Set-00081/274495801956?hash=item3fe9398a64:g:5wgAAOSwlx9fYLKv

  4. European Market is very different from the North American Market, the majority of posters here are from USA,so take alot of what is said here which a pinch of salt I.e. super heroes and marvel dont appreciate as much in EU, whereas technic will perform very well in EU, not as much in US. Also don't feel bad for not owning a warehouse / fork truck. As you'll find alot of people here saying they bought 100 of this set and 300 of that, but that isn't the norm, they are the exception. Sure there are some big players here, but the average Joe is just buying an extra set to stash away and sell on ebay 2 years later. Best thing is just decide what your selling strategy will be i.e. quick flip / part out / buy and hold etc, decide on your sets, use the retirement lists as a guide, and always try to buy at discount.

  5. All my listings, everywhere, say something along the lines of "Brand new in box, factory sealed: May have shelf wear or minor damage. Any major damage will be noted and photos added to auction. Do not purchase from us if you are expecting a mint condition collectable. Sold as a toy to be opened and enjoyed". Something like that... I have no patience for... anything or anyone, anymore. (And yes, I package like a pro. How I'd like to receive my items. But I'll be damned if I am going to put myself out there as a mint condition lego guy to buy from.)

  6. As I get older, I find that I have very little time and patience to accommodate every single requirement/need/demand from "Minty" potential buyers, especially the ones asking for discounts at the end of long email chain. On the bright side, you young whippersappers have 1 fewer competitor for for this niche market..

  7. All my eBay items have "New in Box" in the title and in my description I put that " Box does have normal shelf wear". If something is obviously creased or damaged them I will specifically call that out.

  15. Unpacking a recent LEGO lot of 13 lbs. for $110. So far it contains most (if not all) of a 10195 AT-OT and Dropship. Looks like all stickers are present, hoses, cockpit, rubber bands, etc. Also contains a a good portion of a UCS Vader Tie 10175, including UCS sticker, cockpit front and back. Most of a 6211 Star Destroyer, 7679 Republic Tank, 6206 Tie Interceptor, and 7146 Tie Fighter. I still have another 10 lb lot to go through which I know contains more of the dropship and the UCS Vader Tie. I also just bought another 12 lb lot from same seller tonight for under $100. (I could see a wing for the UCS Vader Tie in tonight's lot). So much LEGO, so little time. No minifigures thus far, but the AT-OT will easily pay for everything with profit to spare.

  18. how about a giant bag sealing all the smaller bag? easy enough to check by even the lowest denominator clerk.

  19. Here's to hoping that Lego will begin to put something along the lines of bag 7/8, bag 8/8. And even put on the bag the set number as well as name. As someone who can think like a criminal (but would never act on the ideas), I have looked at products before and thought about how easy it would theoretically be get away with shady things. If you are reading this Lego (😠), please go about doing this right!

  20. My wife was excited to share this new paper bag information with me before I'd read this thread. I see lots of positives, I hate the plastic bags, but they have their advantages, seeing what's in them is really nice. Also if you have a water event they protect the contents better and you can still sell the set as new w/o box. That said, I hate throwing away the bags, feels really wasteful.

  21. I kinda agree with LegoSteve. I haven't bought any Diners yet, and don't really plan to unless they get a 30% Black Friday sale with a GWP. Imo, there are much better smaller sets to get that will appreciate faster and take up less storage space.

  22. I agree, printing the set number on the bag would work. It is curious why they don't do that now. Obviously it would be more ink and another function that needs to be programmed for producing bags. Not much but it'll add to the bottom line for every bag produced.

  28. Hello All, This past summer when I inquired about the likelihoods of certain sets being retired, I was referred to the list put out by Promobricks (purchased the Treehouse as soon as SAH got it). My next two priority sets are the Downtown Diner and the Vestas Wind Turbine. Both these sets have now been removed from the Promobricks 2020 retirement list for some reason as of 09/14. Is this list reliable to go by? Any ideas as to why these sets were removed? Im definitely going to buy the Diner at msrp when it becomes available, but the Vestas set Id like to score on a discount if possible (maybe Black Friday; Walmart had it on significant mark down over the summer down to around $138 if I'm correct). Now to the other part, I know someone mentioned a few posts above mine the Star Wars Episode 9 A Wing possibly retiring, any guesses about the others in that series (none of these were mentioned on Promobricks)? Kylo Ren's Shuttle, Sith Tie Fighter, and the Sith Troopers battle pack? Ideally, Id love to pick up any of these sets up on sale, but these are hard to come by. I know people have found the shuttle on clearance at Kohls or Walmart. I don't think the Sith Fighter ever went on sale, which is probably the most overpriced of the aforementioned. Any input is always appreciated. I am from the collector side of this hobby. Thank you and be well.

  29. that is the consensus, yes. Short run exclusive. No additional runs. He gone. 264 live 1411 sold 95 shipped is the current floor, but a few with for a creased box at 93. many others sitting at the 99.99 level. The dip never happened. I'm impressed.

  30. I almost always list my items as being new in box, but then specify that the item may have a form of box damage or shelf wear. I'm not about the "Mint" life, and I get that some people are, I just don't have any interest in selling to those people.

  31. You're right, I should have been more specific and said "People" who have no problems going to China Town for parades and festivals, and go to the hair salon but want to use the pandemic as a excuse not to stand in line to vote crack me up. Better?

  32. Your use of "People" assumes inclusive when, in fact, it's most likely different groups altogether. Your point just picks and chooses the different groups and combines them to serve your "narrative" which is the problem w/ news today. Yes, most people shop for groceries...some do it more carefully than others and due to costs/delays...no other choice but to go out. Yes, some folks do go to restaurants...but many (like my households continue to avoid) still don't...it's form of personal risk management Yes...a relative small percentage of US participate in protests Yes all of the above are "people" but your gross simplification is wrong.

  34. I have to agree with buyers that getting a damaged box really sucks. I will pay more to go a different buyer than to pay a little less and receive a damaged box. Some things I display the box only. I just don't have the space to build things, so I just leave them in the box and admire them that way. When you go to look at a set and it is damaged, you focus immediately on the box damage and not the item itself. Instead of warm, fuzzy feelings, you get feelings of disappointment that your box is damaged. That is not what I am paying good money for, the feelings of disappointment. This happened to me with my recent $500 Hot Toys purchase. Guy did a very crappy packaging job and it came damaged. So now, every time I look at it, all I am going to think about immediately is how this guy sucks at shipping and even had the audacity to list shipping charges at $50 for a $20 max shipping cost. It makes me want to buy a new one altogether. I didn't ask for a refund and still left positive feedback before telling him how to not suck at packaging (I wasn't mean about it, trust me lol), but it would make me feel a whole lot better about the situation if he had given me a small refund for it. I don't open the Hot Toys boxes, I like it better just sitting in the original sealed box since the box itself displays nicely. You might need to invest in stronger boxes or better bubble wrap if your packages are arriving damaged to buyers.

  39. I think Gringotts being conspicuously absent in the Diagon Alley set suggest that's the next big D2C. The Jabba Palace/Rancor is a great example of how it could be especially awesome...but would not connect to the DA modulars well.

  41. Never advertise it as mint. Double box. Take photos. But they will still complain. I had an SDCC set I mailed out last year that I did that with, and the buyer still complained and requested a refund from eBay, which eBay forced me to accept. I got someone on the phone, explained the situation, asked them to look over the messages, and they ruled in my favor within 30 minutes. Gave me back my funds. Buyer attempted a SNAD case, and course, that wasn’t the case at all.
