I know @odysea11 was not sure of the value of this, but since I had to go through an inventory effort for my BL store anyways, here is the final summary: Buy-in price was $165 shipped. I had to move 6 minifig heads to my personal collection as the printing was faded/substandard. Total value of parts (BL 6-month avg): $368, with a couple of individual parts fetching >$1.5 each, including the bunny teeth minifigure head going for $2.70. TLBM2 Minifigs: $40 (3xGiraffe Guy, 2xWatermelon Dude, 1 each of Flashback Lucy, Apocalypse Benny, Vest Friend Rex, Unikitty and Dorothy+Toto). DC Minifigs: $39.50 (2 each of Metamorpho and Stargirl, 1 each of Aquaman, Joker, Cheetah, Green Lantern, Bumblebee and Bat-Mite). Retail price for the storage container: $20 ---------------+ Total value: $368+$40+$39.50+$20 = $467.50 Slightly off from LEGO's $552.99 advertised retail price, but a pretty good bargain nevertheless (65% off).4 points

My reselling business was very different during the '07-'08 recession, but I saw very little change in my sales throughout that period and grew quite a bit as well. In my experience at least, the Lego market is not tied to the broader economy in the way that many here think.3 points

I would just block. The message alone seems too short and curt to be an honest question to me. Even if it turns out to be honest, it's just a sign for possible future hassle if the buyer does end up buying the item.2 points

A full on SIP crackdown will not help improve sales at this point IMO, it will only scare people into saving whatever money they have. Money will run out, even for those lucky enough to work from home. Moderation is the key. Here in NJ, we are limiting the spread after a horrendous start. Many have suffered both physically and financially, but at least there is some positive signs of improving business and reduced virus spread.2 points

While this doesn’t directly answer the question, it highlights the existence of a 2-class economic system during this period. Our customers are very much the couple discussed here. https://www.npr.org/2020/07/29/896942333/the-coronavirus-housing-boom1 point

Yeah I just had to stop and restart BS. Seemed to clear the communication error and sync back up.1 point

No, UPC matches overseas and no part count on the front of the box. I have contacted many sellers and they are drop shipping from overseas. Explains the high price as well.1 point

As a business owner that has weathered the storm so far, I can tell you that I am worried about a second round of more restrictive social distancing measures. While the economy will improve if things remain as is, forcing more closures and restrictions upon the public will have a "trickle up" effect IMO. The service workers took a hit the first round, but this next round will hit more people higher up on the payroll food chain. These are the people who buy expensive LEGO sets.1 point

Not hard to do since each part comes in its own box. It is just a matter of grabbing 100 pieces from blonde hair box, 100 from blue shirt torso box, etc etc1 point

If the US does not get any sets, which is probably the case, then collectors/investors from the US will buy at high prices. Guaranteed. Will it be higher than "todays" prices is the question.1 point

Currently, there are more auctions being sold than listed. And here is a snippet of countries captured so far for my numbers. Australia in the past 48hrs has been making a run for the money. I imagine this is due to Myers and Target selling their stock locally. Based on the number of auctions being sold, demand is still higher than supply. Additionally, price is being driven by currently the sellers lowering their price to compete with others. New Zealand has really dropped off the map for listings btw. Total of 53 I've counted.1 point

Blocking is the safest approach here, but I suspect if this guy is new he just thinks eBay is a scammy garage sale. You could possibly change his mind and create another potential customer for all of us or you could have a nightmare buyer on your hands. Do you feel lucky?1 point

People are selling the sets for what people are willing to pay. I myself have bought several at very high prices. Most people are buying this set at these prices for investment/collecting, not to build. A seller sets a price, a buyer buys at said price. I do not understand how you can be upset with sellers who are trying to maximize their return. The sellers I bought from didn’t twist my arm to buy the set. I have no desire to build any LEGO set I buy. The gear issue would not stop me or most of other 140+ buyers from trying to obtain this set.1 point

Not sure these are such great deals. I love my local pick-a-brick, 'cause I can load up on hard to find and rare pieces. My fear with this deal is that the $25-$35 / lb bag will instead be filled with a bunch of 2-cent parts.1 point

becareful. sub 10 feedback fraudsters going around. had one send insults and personal attacks demanding justice for a package that was clearly destroyed by the post, and another now claiming box open and missing many bags demanding a refund. (both items over 350$) unluckily for both of these people I have images of pre packaged status. ALWAYS INSURE ANYTHING OVER 100$ my friends.1 point

My 5 year old son absolutely loves Mario related things and has played a lot of the newer Mario content that is out on the Nintendo Switch (Mario Kart, Super Mario Bro’s Deluxe). We saw the $60 Mario Starter Course set at Walmart the other day and I bought it along with some of the $5 character packs. We put it together today and he absolutely loves it! He seems more interested in making Mario interact with the other characters vs setting up a course for Mario to run through in a certain amount of time. Perhaps older kids would want to set up courses and try to collect as many coins as they can in the timeframe they have to finish the course... but I’ll admit, I even had fun using the Mario character to interact with all of the various enemies and landscapes. I foresee myself purchasing additional Mario courses and expansion sets. My son is more interested in playing with these vs watching TV (we’ll see how long that lasts, lol), so I’m all for him getting into this stuff. I think there’s great potential for this particular line too. I could totally see them making a future Luigi character that is similar to Mario. Perhaps even have the ability to compete against one another with Mario and Luigi to see who can get the most coins, or knock out the most enemies within a specific time. Future sets could include a Mario castle or other landmarks from the older games. The prices for the sets can be on the expensive side, but when you look at other themes aimed toward kids (Minecraft), it’s not that much out of line. I think there’ll be demand for these come Christmas, and it will be interesting to see if LEGO can keep up with it.1 point

No, most of those people still hate the prequels. The neckbeards that grew up with the OT **** all over the Prequels and drove George Lucas away from his own franchise. It's incredibly ironic to me that my generation, those that mostly grew up with the Prequels and endured all of that toxicity, are now doing the same thing to the Sequel trilogy. There's no 'period' to any of this. There's enough Star Wars for everyone to love something. Rey, Finn, and Poe are heroes to my kids. I wish people would just let other people enjoy things without having to **** all over them. I spent most of my time in he fandom being told how I wasn't a real Star Wars fan because I loved the Prequels, and I really hate seeing that cycle continue.1 point

One thing to realize is that the retirement dates can change throughout the year. HE might be listed as retiring in December 2020 in March only to have that date change to December 2021 by the time August rolls around.1 point

Yes you are correct, Zavvi only had poly bag. Now, Monty Mole is in another set that will come out with the rest so it kinda kills the exclusivity of the GWP but still, I will want it haha.1 point

believe monty mole was a LEGO Shop at Home exclusive and went pretty quick. some of the other sites, like Zavvi, had the super mushroom poly.1 point

my opinion but most of the folks building this...like the ones building the high end Lambo and Chiron...buy it for the wow factors, build it...be amazed...show off to friends...then its a display piece for the next 5 to 10 years. Never touched again. That black screams of needing dust protection. It's "elegant"...few...very few LEGO sets can say that so that puts the price point into perspective. It's a mantle piece or on a piano top...its shelf space comp are not other LEGO sets but vases and art pieces.1 point

Agree this is exactly what the idea line was about, I'm absolutely blown away by this, such an amazing build.1 point

$350! I mean I get it, but dang my wallet is about to take a hit. I haven't been this excited for an Ideas set since the Saturn V. Finally, a set worthy to the 18+ moniker.1 point

This is incredibly impressive. Great use of the powered up and App functions. This is a perfect representation of Lego taking the Ideas theme in the right direction from Fan Concept to Final Product. Its not on my day 1 list, but its made THE list for sure.1 point
