FYI, I got a phishing email pretending to be Paypal, telling me my account is suspended. Just a PSA, if you get any suspicious email from Paypal or eBay, DO NOT click any link in the email. Instead, manually log in to your ebay or Paypal account via a browser to check any possible problem.3 points

Today I purchased 2 sets from the Hidden Side series. The Paranormal Intercept Bus for $30 and the Graveyard Mystery set for $15...not bad for my first Lego purchase!3 points

Confession - One of my only regrets was selling this set way too soon. I don't have many regrets (and though I made 125%+ profit on them) - this was still an absolute regret.1 point

Crazy buy at RRP people adding items to their carts... Couldn't resist.1 point

FOMO is a thing. Paying retail is not a good advice. Just skip las vegas and get a similar good set which you can get for less than retail.1 point

Whoops, I meant to write 3%, not 4%1 point

Yes, I had my store manager try to push the Falcon on me last year and was telling me it was retiring soon (said no). Also, at one point The Brick Fan reported last year that Assembly Square was retiring at the end of 2019. Point is, rumors fly around, but we really won't know for sure until around October/November range. I personally am interested in the Vestas for personal build, but am hoping to get it on a black friday sale with a bonus included.1 point

I’d recommend getting Diner and Treehouse for your collection as those seem to retire for sure. Vestas is still a big question mark, so if you like it, get it now. Falcon and Stranger things can wait for another year. LEGO store employees and managers talk a lot about retirements, the only consistent takeaway from their statements is that they are as inconsistent as us in predicting the future.1 point

Most likely this set won't retire q4 in USA, probably q1 2021, as there sets always retire afterwards, so they always have a heads up after retirements are announced in eu / UK.1 point

So I bought 4 Taj's a couple weeks ago from Harrods on sale for $320. I just wanted to let you all know that their packaging was exceptional. The Taj's came in the original Lego carton. There were 2 to each shipping box. The shipping box was extra thick cardboard and the two sets inside were also completely bubble wrapped. I was so impressed. They must have had $20 worth of packing materials inside the boxes. I would buy from them again in a heartbeat. Now, having said that... It was my first time buying from them so I'm basing this on a single experience. But very pleased with Harrods.1 point

stupid question but if they retire it in dec why would they do a run in feb?1 point

why wait? they're at walmart: https://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Ideas-Pirates-of-Barracuda-Bay-21322-Pirate-Shipwreck-Model-Building-Kit-for-Play-and-Display-2-545-Pieces/6585932331 point

Paying retail sucks but I'd definitely do it for this set & not think twice. All the recent sales should offset RRP at least 15%. This set was cursed from the beginning and had limited availability. There's tons of corporate monet that will be willing to buy hundreds of these sets and not think twice. I think I only have less than 50 of this set but I'm hopeful to snag a couple hundred in February after LEGO does it's final run but it's doubtful.😭😭😭1 point

If Voltron can be a successful ideas set, something like this could easily surpass 21311 sales, imo.1 point

Here are some hidden specials, literally https://www.walmart.com/browse/building-blocks/other-building-blocks/4171_4186_133013_6193800?cat_id=4171_4186_133013_6193800&facet=retailer%3AWalmart.com||special_offers%3ASpecial+Buy They are called Lego Masters bundles but they have been listed under "other building blocks" so they don't show up when you search for Lego at Walmart. They are mostly discounted "Classic sets" with a baseplate added for pennies more. It does also allows to change the choice of baseplate, but that does push the price up. All-in-all, some good deals made better.1 point

Ok thanks everyone for the responses. It was not very clear to see with the deal being expired. Consider me educated and let's not hijack the thread based on my ineptitude! To get things back on track, I did find a similar deal for the Hidden Side Shrimp Shack Attack, for those interested. It's 20% off and bundled with a $10 e-gift card. However with the line being discontinued there may very well be 50%+ discounts coming in the future so something to consider : https://www.walmart.com/nco/LEGO-Hidden-Side-Shrimp-Shack-Attack-with-free-10-Walmart-Gift-Card/6298743561 point

It was 20% off at Walmart PLUS a $10 gift card for each one you bought. Assuming you bought 4 total and applied the $20 in gift cards to the second purchase you ended up getting 4 for essentially 30% off. So, most definitely better than Target.1 point

I am finishing up the long process of closing out my storage unit and getting prepped to sell. I moved the last of the shelves upstairs around 11:00 PM last night, and today (between working the day job) I've been unboxing, sorting and shelving sets. I picked up the last two loads and swept out the unit yesterday, to that chapter is closed. I can't finish building my theater room until I clean it out, so lots of stuff going on the market soon. Oh, since non-LEGO stuff, I'll focus on the room itself. It now has walls, doors, and climate control.1 point

4 from 3. Not a bad deal! Though I’d argue that box art looks better than real life. Still, Was fun to do with my son.1 point
