So many sets, so little funds... and the wife thought I was slowing down my purchases3 points

I really don't see how they can offer such great deals on huge sets, express ship them internationally (for free), and still make a profit.2 points

It’s by far the most accurate, comprehensive and publicly available list out there for EU that I know of. Short term changes may occur, but they keep that list very well maintained with all recent Information coming in once they have released it (they added 10257 to last years list at a later point in time, for example).2 points

They are usually very accurate. However, often times Lego will extend the EOL date of very popular sets which is why I'd use this list as a guideline only.2 points

I like how when I go through and look at the pictures of the sets, I can't tell one Hidden Side set from the other! The art killed that series. I think they have some neat things in it so it's too bad.2 points

How is your shipping cost that high? Most dual boxed brickheadz are somewhere between 13-15 ounces with the boxes I send mine in. Still first class prices. Granted, that would only save you $3 or so and still put you in the minus. Just $8 shipping for a brickheadz seems very high.1 point

I have to agree but I'm not complaining. Getting the sets I want for 30% off and free shipping is nice. I recently noticed they sell a whole lot of other collectibles. Aliens, Predator, blurays, art prints, etc. It's kind of crazy.1 point

Zavvi also has 60229 for $120 (20% off) w/ free shipping, use code LC10: https://us.zavvi.com/toys-lego/lego-city-rocket-assembly-and-transport-space-port-60229/12540191.html1 point

This only happens to me when I list on my phone through the app. If I go through my iPad or desktop, it stays where I set it. (Crosses fingers this continues...) I think some people have said to start the listing on the phone, take the pictures, then finish on another device.1 point

Got an email from eBay today about my active listings "Your listings can now accept offers to attract more buyers" and in the body of the email, it has this "If you don’t want to receive offers, go to manage offer settings to update your preference." When in the heck did this start? Now I have to go into each of my listings and revise them to turn off the best offer functionality? I found the below post in the eBay Community. Is it true I can't turn this feature off? It is actually worse than that. I have a Buy-it-Now listing that's scheduled to run 30 days. I unchecked the "Accept Offers" box when I created it, but about a week after listing, eBay sent me a message saying they had turned it back on. I went into my listing and turned it off, and 2 days later, they sent me another message saying they'd turned it back on! I contacted eBay customer support and asked them "How do I disable this? If I wanted to accept offers, I would have selected that in the first place". She said "you can't - there is no way to turn it off". It is apparently something new they're trying, but if they get enough negative feedback, they will either abandon it, or at least offer some kind of account setting to disable it. So everybody who doesn't like losing control over your listings, complain, complain, complain!1 point

10263 has not retired yet and is still available in Europe SAH. Rollercoaster -> Remember Ferris Wheel? That was around for a total of 3,5 years, so it would not be that surprising for the Rollercoaster to have the same life span. HP - the sets retiring from the 2019 wave are unpopular sets. As for the train: Maybe the new-found love of AFOLs for trains sparked by Crocodile changed their mind there.1 point

I'm surprised as well, it's done even quicker than nexo I think. I bought some of them for myself and think they are quite nice in terms of sets and details on the figs. The box art is a mess though. Will wait for the castle to go on clearance.1 point

Crazy that Hidden Side is done! Some of those sets haven't even been released in the US yet!!!! I really like the Hidden Side castle that releases in August in the US. I wonder how quickly these will get pushed to good discounts by retailers and how many will even hit the shelves in the states? Talk about a short run... I guess I'll grab one quickly for myself and hope to pick up a few more with a discount. I know its been debated some in the clearance thread, I think some of the sets area really nice for a Halloween theme, but I guess sales have been pretty terrible for LEGO if they are already killing it off... Definitely a few other surprises as well.1 point

For sure remove them. Yesterday I had an eBay sale that did in person pick up and I could tell he was offended I bought the set on clearance and sold it for more. He asked me what I paid and where I got it etc.1 point

So I grabbed the Green Grocer when it popped up as the seller had 100% feedback. I then started to research and it looked legit, but I was still skeptical. Then the Cafe Corner and Market Street appeared so I grabbed them as well. The seller's listing practices were consistent with older listings, and feedback from sales within the week, so I figured no active seller wouldn't notice if their account was compromised in a timely manner. But still I was skeptical. Things sat for two days, then I randomly received a combined shipping refund from the seller yesterday and feedback. They just arrived. I scanned all the bags and all the pieces say "LEGO". Still surprised they showed up. They will sit in a 3 day quarantine in the garage then they will be inventoried and flipped.1 point

Lots of memories for me. My brother and I would always inhale dinner as the first one done and upstairs got to be player 1 and decide what game(s) were played that night. My parents recently retired / moved, which means we had to go through all our boxes of stuff that we still had at their house. I received the NES and the games. My initial thoughts on this set were meh, but after going through my games, I like this set more and more and think they could add so much to it such as Excitebike, Spyhunter (if they could change the scrolling), Castlevania, Megaman, etc. And for the math discussion...1 point

I built BricksWithWings' MOC of Buck Rogers Starfighter over the weekend. It's one of my favorite ships and brings back a lot of childhood memories. It's about 400 pieces. The instructions cost $4, and I sourced the bricks from my bulk bin and Bricklink. I spent less than $30. This is the first MOC I've built, and it really makes you appreciate Lego's instruction manuals and build process. Granted, they are a multi-million dollar company and it's unfair to compare them to a fan-designed instruction manual. Overall, I am happy with the build, and I even swooshed it around the house afterwards. The look on my teenage daughter's face was priceless. Side note: I didn't follow the instruction manual for the display stand and ended up building my own stand with bricks I had on hand.1 point

Pretty cool stuff. Jeff and I have really been blessed over the years to meet so many intelligent and generous people through the site. Brickpickers have helped keep my sons' school open with their generosity and their participation in the annual LEGO raffle and have taught me a lot about business and reselling. Writing two books , writing for BLOCKS and being in the USA Today was really special and it was because of YOU that we had the chance to do it. I feel bad not being more active as of late, but we are moving in the middle of a pandemic and it has sucked all the time and life from me. Hopefully, I can back to my life again in a few weeks after packing, inspections and paperwork is over. I'm excited by what Jeff has shown me with his new changes that are coming to the site that will simplify and improve many of our main features. Thanks again everyone! Ed Mack1 point

No worries, it was a legit question. Thinking more about it, probably would be good to have a running tally of what may be retiring as it is. My reaction was not appropriate and I do apologize for that. The internet can be a hateful place unfortunately and definitely don't want to add to that, especially in today's world...1 point

Had a conversation with a very helpful LEGO Store Employee. - helpful how? She shared that many of these sets are not retiring - we know this will continue to pour in as the factories are coming back on line. - we also know this. I inquired about several specific ones that she was able to give ETAs on. - like? basically whole post about nothing.1 point

You actually think Lego is not going to be able to produce a new, popular set like Pirates of Barracuda Bay until next year? They're just going to forget Christmas when they make all their money??? And please refrain from saying "the new normal". It's an idiotic phrase that was pushed on us as a form of compliance and acceptance.1 point
