  1. Turned a book shelf destined for the dump into a nice piece for the baby's room. (took about 2 weeks between sanding, painting and staining.)

  5. It’s by far the most accurate, comprehensive and publicly available list out there for EU that I know of. Short term changes may occur, but they keep that list very well maintained with all recent Information coming in once they have released it (they added 10257 to last years list at a later point in time, for example).

  6. They are usually very accurate. However, often times Lego will extend the EOL date of very popular sets which is why I'd use this list as a guideline only.

  7. Picked up our barn door, about a 50min drive Round trip to avoid $40 delivery charge. Now just need to add stain and hardware then install in the basement.

  8. A long time ago... can't do anything about it. It's very annoying, I know. Yup.

  9. So many sets, so little funds... and the wife thought I was slowing down my purchases

  10. I would've loved the Hidden Side if it didn't come with any tech. That school bus has my name all over it & I would've loved to have gone deep with this. The app will always bite toy makers invthe a**. The Teddy Ruxpin a few years ago is proof of that. I spent $7k on that & lost $2k

  11. I expect those two sets to be out for a while. I get the average life expectancy & all but these are huge best sellers so I'm not sure why SAH would want to get rid of them. Same goes for Disney Castle too. Anyone who didn't dump at least half of their London & NYC inventory over the last four months and use those funds and put them back into more London & NYC needs to rethink their business model.

  12. Yes, they planned to kill Hidden Side eventually (like anything else) but to me it seems like the last-minute decision.. why else would they bring on the market the last wave with the Castle? It costs a lot to make the boxes / packaging, promotion etc.. quite expensive stunt to have it only for a couple of months on a sale if they planned to shut the theme down at the end of the year. My personal opinion is that Hidden Side sets are not bad primarily - e.g. that orange Bus is simply excellent! and you do not even have to have the app, just the build itself. Its the awful packaging that killed the theme.

  13. I'm surprised as well, it's done even quicker than nexo I think. I bought some of them for myself and think they are quite nice in terms of sets and details on the figs. The box art is a mess though. Will wait for the castle to go on clearance.

  16. Crazy that Hidden Side is done! Some of those sets haven't even been released in the US yet!!!! I really like the Hidden Side castle that releases in August in the US. I wonder how quickly these will get pushed to good discounts by retailers and how many will even hit the shelves in the states? Talk about a short run... I guess I'll grab one quickly for myself and hope to pick up a few more with a discount. I know its been debated some in the clearance thread, I think some of the sets area really nice for a Halloween theme, but I guess sales have been pretty terrible for LEGO if they are already killing it off... Definitely a few other surprises as well.

  17. I think the gas station is going to be huge. Any city and/or modular lover will want one at some point, and you can’t just buy one, as the MOC possibilities are quite extensive.

  19. I like how when I go through and look at the pictures of the sets, I can't tell one Hidden Side set from the other! The art killed that series. I think they have some neat things in it so it's too bad.

  20. So I grabbed the Green Grocer when it popped up as the seller had 100% feedback. I then started to research and it looked legit, but I was still skeptical. Then the Cafe Corner and Market Street appeared so I grabbed them as well. The seller's listing practices were consistent with older listings, and feedback from sales within the week, so I figured no active seller wouldn't notice if their account was compromised in a timely manner. But still I was skeptical. Things sat for two days, then I randomly received a combined shipping refund from the seller yesterday and feedback. They just arrived. I scanned all the bags and all the pieces say "LEGO". Still surprised they showed up. They will sit in a 3 day quarantine in the garage then they will be inventoried and flipped.

  21. My experience with them is that they are very slow and sometimes just ignore you. I'm currently trying to get a replacement for a damaged item, and they wanted me to find shipping options and prices for them??? Their prices are good, but twice now I've have to deal with CS and it's like waiting for a sloth to draw a picture...

  25. While sales may not be anywhere close to the April/May level of insanity - things are still going strong, and are far from over.

  26. I'm betting on it picking back up. covid cases are climbing fast in the US and likely 90 to 98% of the population has yet to be infected. A vaccine won't be out before Christmas. I think a lot of people will be doing their Christmas shopping from home. Now, the corollary might be that if the virus burns itself out before the holidays, there may be a need for folks with cabin fever to get out into the brick and mortar stores. What is an unknown is the discretionary spending abilities. If they've been cooped up, they may have more savings to spend (I know my bank account has been happier by not eating out so much). But if they lost an income in the house, LEGO will not be a top priority. Ironic that your CL sales have dropped though. You would think the more people got out, the more they would be willing to do a face-to-face meeting for CL. I think what we are seeing right now is a movement back to ordering directly from the big online retailers. In April, you were hard pressed to find a set over $100 in stock. Now they are fairly common -- not all at once, but there are many options to choose from.

  28. I hadn't done any day trading since the dot com bust, but got back in in March and did that until May. Made a good chunk of change on the airlines and cinema stocks before they took a second dive. I've been on the sidelines since writing and buying back covered calls since the volatility is commanding a premium and you can potentially pay off the buy-in price on the underlying stock in a year on some of these. I agree that now is not the time to buy. FOMO is running rampant and I don't see a long-term stimulant for some of these high-flying stocks -- those aided by covid will probably revert to pre-covid sales after the pandemic so why would their valuation remain 50 to 100% higher than pre-covid prices in some cases (I'm looking at you, AMZN)? I took most of my profits in May/June and threw them into boosting my LEGO inventory -- ironic given the brokerage accounts were loaded up with LEGO sales from the Christmas season. Who knows, might be shifting back again if the market corrects this fall when LEGO sales pick back up for the holidays. I went ahead and ordered a few 31097's from Costco just now to justify posting here

  29. I am finishing up the long process of closing out my storage unit and getting prepped to sell. I moved the last of the shelves upstairs around 11:00 PM last night, and today (between working the day job) I've been unboxing, sorting and shelving sets. I picked up the last two loads and swept out the unit yesterday, to that chapter is closed. I can't finish building my theater room until I clean it out, so lots of stuff going on the market soon. Oh, since non-LEGO stuff, I'll focus on the room itself. It now has walls, doors, and climate control.

  30. Needed a decent home for the Blackstone, so I built a table out of 2 x 3 pine and a mold out of scrap and hard board for the 4’ x 2’ poured concrete slab top. Little heavier than I liked, but the casters are rated for 650 pounds. Cooked pizza last night on it. Bacon and eggs for breakfast this morning and doing burgers tonight. #griddle life

  31. This is awesome and all, but can you put in the option to purchase just the top grossing re-sell sets, and then post on Ebay for me at the going market price...oh yeah also screen out the fruitcakes and dropshippers (cuz I'm not about all that)...just make sure all the money lands in my Paypal...that would be great. Thank-you #LEGO*Resell*SO*HArd

  32. Upload the tracking # to the case file then message the buyer with some polite version of the following adapted to your situation and carrier. Once you send the message, call ebay customer service tomorrow and have them review the case. They will likely close it in your favor. Dear Buyer, Thank you for your message. According to ENTER TRACKING # your item was delivered ENTER DATE AND TIME. If this is not the case, I will do what I can to help locate your package. Please check with neighbors and household members first. Also, check with your mail carrier by contacting your local post office or Fedex center and providing them with the tracking number and informing them that it was not received. If that does not help, I will be happy to assist you in filing a mail theft report with the USPS/ Fedex. Please send me your daytime contact phone number. Though I can get it from eBay, it is faster if you send it to me so that I can file the USPS Postal Inspectors report if your postmaster or mail carrier cannot document the whereabouts of your package. Please be aware that a Postal Inspector will contact you for more information. Please keep me updated and let me know if assistance with a mail theft report is needed. Sincerely,
