This is going to be an oversimplification so do not take tax advice from some random guy on internet IRS want to see your total revenue and costs on Schedule C but ultimately they tax the profit (revenue - costs). Inventory & eBay fees are part of costs. I have been using the Turbotax Home & Business version. It is more expensive but it essentially splits the calculation between business and personal income (but combine everything to 1 package at the end). Plus, it outlines the specific deductions for each income stream. To me, that makes a big difference on how to calculate the taxes. I know some will disagree and say this is a waste of money, but I never give a **** what people say when the tool works for me If you like the way Turbotax asks for input you might want to check it out since it is more extensive version of the tool. Or try other similar tax software that goes beyond the standard wage based income.

I think it's the process of how they package those wheels, in fours or sixes, I forget. It's apparently cheaper to send you all four/six in one bag with current process and take a loss on two wheels than the cost of injecting a new bagging process just for this set. Similar to the Lego minifigure tools you sometimes get or the Lego Friends cookware, you get like 10 pieces and the instructions may only call for use of two or three. The cost benefit must be similar on those wheels for this set. Edit: aren't they three to a bag like the image and you just don't use the middle one? Two bags would yield you a two extra wheels.

Sold a Palace Cinema where the box had major dents and creases for $250 to a local repeat buyer. They bought sealed Brick Bank and Grand Emporium sets from me last month, finished them, and wanted another set to build. They've previously asked about my prices for Pet Shop and Detective's Office. I'm hoping they'll contact me again after they're done building the Cinema.

I've received quite a few of these where the original MSRP was very small dollars and I'm asking about 6-7x that amount because that's the current market price. My items became unavailable for purchase even when I tried to reactivate the listings. I just ended up listing them as "collectible-like new" and added a description of "brand new in the package" and that didn't trigger any pricing errors. These were all FBM listings, so that may not help with FBA.

This is where bringing your total inventory number from year to year helps, because of course you count the cost of that 2014 inventory against the 2020 sale, it's just part of that number you bring from last year. I've only done this one year, and having done a better inventory at the beginning of 2020 I found I missed some sets, so I'll add those in as additions in 2020. You can also adjust for converting inventory to personal use in that number, because you're never deducting inventory, just cost of the inventory you sold.

Yes and it sucks. I've had to just recall several sets because I don't know what else to do. I've tried setting max and min prices all over the place. Didn't work. I've tried changing to FBM then back to FBA, didn't work. It happens on FBM items as well, but I have that inventory so I can just delete the listing or zero out inventory.

I just upgraded one of my Amazon accounts to professional about three weeks ago. My account was put on hold when I upgraded and I had to send them a picture of a recent bank statement for my checking account. Once they approved it my account was unlocked and everything was working fine. The entire process took less than a day and 99% of that time was just waiting for them to review it. My storage on that account went from 10 cubic feet to unlimited, and aside from a cellphone picture of my bank statement they didn't ask for any other documentation. I can't say for certain that the process is the same for everyone, but I run multiple accounts and never had any trouble setting any of them up as a professional plan. Honestly, if you're selling more than 30 items per month you should be on a professional plan anyway even if you don't use any of the extra features it adds, simply because at that point it's cheaper than the non-professional plan is. I would say the only reason NOT to be on it is if you only sell two or three items a month, so in my opinion there's no downside to upgrading.

Yes, upgraded 2 weeks ago after downgrading in Feb. There is a page that threatens with documentation requirements and your inventory being locked for weeks, but it was instantaneous for me. It was showing unlimited storage even while I was on a personal plan, though I expect that would have changed to 10 cu ft as soon as I replenished inventory.

I usually look through old pictures and I'll place value on the item based on how much fun I was having at the time.

As I am a die-hard Trains fan, the arrival of 10277 was highly anticipated. Built the set last night: As the gap between the noses and the main cab is unsightly, I proceeded to make the elimination of this gap the next thing I did. There are several methods, one using 1x4x1 panels (first posted on Eurobricks) and Jang's version with cheeseslopes, but both of them sacrificed side details from the original build, so I decided to roll my own mod, loosely based on Jang's. Instructions are in this post on Eurobricks. Here is a render of the final result (waiting for a few missing pieces to arrive to turn my "borrowed pieces" build into a nicely color-matching one):

Jang update: Removed rubber bands on wheels to stop track hopping. Shows a custom build technique to help close the gaps l between the cars.
