Americans have more discretionary income due to "low" taxes. Pair that with access to cheap credit and you have the worlds biggest spenders.3 points

File a non paying buyer alert after 2-3 days. Be aware, eBay’s Covid 19 policies sunseted June 30th but we will likely see them renewed in one form or another. Under the previous policy, they allowed a seller to cancel for any reason and any negative feedback is removable. https://export.ebay.com/en/seller-updates/covid19/covid19/2 points

Gotta go for more - Even if it doesn't turn into quick $$$, somewhere down the line we'll all be happy to have purchased them.2 points

BL part #60c01. technic, gear 24 tooth clutch. to replace provided standard 24 tooth at bottom of chain drive. It still hangs up a little sometimes but much much less chain separation. I had to climb on the table to get in position to fix it each time because its against the wall. I'm up to the challenge but Lego supposed to be relax time2 points

Those are such tough ones; I kept my last town hall for a few years and then finally broke it open. Sometimes you can't find a good deal on a used set.2 points

Picked up a sealed 79018 a couple years ago for $135. This week I sold the unopened Smaug and the parts needed to complete him for $165 with free shipping.1 point

this set totally sucks as an investment. what a dud. still in stock from amzon.com less than msrp despite retiring at the end of 2018. i got a few at 50% off but that's basically break even to zero or even lose a little on shipping ignoring opportunity cost. at the time i bought them i thought the set looked interesting but there was this small voice inside whispering its another exo-suit. i should have listened.1 point

This. The mentality is that if the person wants something, s/he should be able to have it. This comes through very clearly when someone gets whiny and then aggressive when I won't mark a price down to a ridiculously low level for something that "I really want" or "I need this for my collection/child's birthday/etc."1 point

There's also the part where it's not worth their time. Time is a lot of money. Many people I know won't have the time to find the lowest price for their item. Most white collar professionals... etc will just get the gift for whatever price they see it at in the 5-10 minutes they want to spend looking. They definitely are not wathing amazon or going to walmart to find the lowest price for a bday gift 3 months later...1 point

Ouch, so harsh... and yet so true. Not to mention the “have to have it now” mentality and not able to distinguish between “wants” vs “needs”. I believe this is more prevalent in the US than other parts of the world. IMO anyway1 point

Still 39 left on Amzn. These should have been poof-ed 30 minutes ago. I am so disappointed by you people1 point

It isn't worth the stress - Send a msg, asking if they are still interested in the item, or if they would prefer to cancel the transaction (asking them to confirm what they would like to do). Headaches tend to follow headaches - Best to just move on (and then sell it for more later on).1 point

You have to cancel the highest bid and then, as Lego Lass said, send a "second chance offer" to the next highest bidder. The amount of the offer is their next highest winning bid. When you send a second chance offer ebay actually creates a "buy it now" page for the individual you sent the offer to. But by cancelling the winning bid, ebay automatically relists the item. So you have to watch out you don't accidentally accept some weird offer sent to you from the relisted sale. As soon as the buy it now second chance offer is accepted, it deletes the new listing and it is no different than if the original bidder had won the auction.1 point

All depends. I've visited more than a several, and didn't see any. When B&N first opened up I only saw them sparingly.1 point

Or they just don't fulfill the demand. The Walmart stores around me are EMPTY. Target seems to be pretty stocked though.1 point

Was speaking with a Lego manager today and mentioned this. For what its worth, she said the color issue was from the first batch made. What is currently coming out should be fine.1 point

I believe @Alpinemaps promised he was going to update the list ..... back in 2017. I'm sure he's almost done.1 point

Where are you seeing them go for $500??? Ebay prices are high $200s and into the $300s...1 point

I agree, I don't like having zero feedback buyers for high ticket items either. They make me nervous. I started reaching out to one such zero feedback bidder two days before an auction ended ($600+ item). I kicked myself for not cancelling his bid before the auction ended because he never responded to me - ever. Because I began reaching out early and suspected the guy was a deadbeat, I was able to immediately reach out to the next highest bidder and told him the situation and he said he was still interested. However, because the auction had ended with the zero feedback bidder as the winner, I had to wait 48 hrs after the auction ended before I could cancel his bid and offer it to second highest bidder.1 point

I think the CV issue may force changes. There are real reasons why LEGO has to retire sets...even popular ones..if CV SIP rebounds and supply disruption kicks in again and into the fall and possibly winter...no one really knows what could happen. 5 months ago I "could not imagine" pretty much everything thats been happening.1 point

Sorry that its dead to you, but hopefully you will come back one day. I am sorry that it is taking time, but that is what it is, time. I am busy in my work world and don't really have the time or energy to work on the site during the week, so most of my work is during my weekend evenings. Is that really a crime, I sure hope not. There is life, work, family and BrickPicker. I am doing what I can, when I can and sorry that it may not be good enough for you. I do hope you can understand.1 point
