  4. yes, it sucks. receiving those kinda emails is always nerve racking. For the high ticket item, I always tried to contact the buyer, either through email or phone#, to get a feeling. Sometimes, a scam can be stopped right there. If no reply and the ship date is approaching, I would add as many security measures as I can, like requiring signature, purchasing extra insurance, using fed/ups.

  5. 11R0 It should be manufactured in the middle of March-ish from Mexico factory, which is about the beginning of this apocalypse. I would think LL-CA just starts to receive shipments from Mexico for the sets been already produced but the transportation was interrupted by the pandemic.

  6. Since he refunded you without you requesting it, isn't this even more his problem and not yours? I see no obligation on your side to have to make it right. If what he proposes doesn't pass your "gut feel" filter, don't agree to this. You paid via Paypal as agreed ... let him fix that.

  7. This whole thing sounds fishy. Sounds like he's trying to convert money from his (frozen) paypal account so he can access it. Hence the MO or check priority. Makes me wonder if his paypal account has been hacked or he's been selling stuff that isn't kosher. I know you've already put more time in this than you should, but I'd be tempted to call paypal about this. They could at least look at the guy's account and verify what is going on. Maybe the refund wasn't authorized. Something is definitely off.

  8. this is unfortunate, and I guess in this situation you have to work with buyer to get it solved. I don't know if ebay will be of any help buy you can certainly talk to their cs. in the future, in your listing, there is a section called "exclude shipping locations", you can check the PO Box option so any address with PO Box will not be able to purchase from you.

  10. I hate that they don't give you the pieces necessary to build all the models at once. They're all generic parts, how much more could it cost to make it a solid promo rather than a disappointment.

  12. Which will be promptly ignored by both the sales venue and the payment processor. There is no way to prove that you didn't unpack it after, ask for the package back, etc. With sales there is always the risk of being screwed. But every buyer starts with 0 feedback, and the vast majority aren't scammers. A buyer who looks to have just registered may be a guest account.

  15. Well, the three I ordered for pick-up don't have them. I was just there yesterday - no stickers on the ones in store. I might see if they'll price match online if they have any more.

  16. The sticker comes off pretty easy with a little bit of heat. I've been doing that to most of my sticker sets. it actually ends up revealing more of the box art seeing as there is less original information.

  17. So, part of the challenge when you work intermittently on a build, you might make a mistake. Yesterday I found out I was one peg over too far in the Porsche build, having to teardown and rebuild the gearing. Here is an image. I didn't mind it as much though, I had sorted the parts previously since this was a used set. So far, the only thing I am missing is the secondary sticker showing the track layout. Id really like that, but otherwise, this build IS very awesome and I am glad I purchased it. Next will be to get the Bugatti and then the Lambo. I might even have to rebuild my 42000 Set from storage. Ive really been on a Technic kick lately.

  19. then I would stop the transaction, take this to ebay or paypal. Granted, cancelling the transaction may cause your paypal fee (outrageous for expensive item). Then it will totally up to paypal's discretion, you may or may not get your fee back. But to me, at least I still get to keep my $500 item, at the cost of ~$16 fee. Worry free night, sleep tight.

  20. Gamestop had the Quidditch so I am not sure how much we want to trust that "exclusive" wording

  21. possibly - this was the case with the harry potter theme when it relaunched but usually when this is the case amazon will have it available for pre-order which i am not seeing.

  22. I never thought there was a light inside. You can easily accomplish the same affect by aiming lighting in strategic ways. That's not "false" advertising, that's just called advertising. False advertising would be saying it's over 1200 pieces but they're actually nanoblocks. Also, as someone else mentioned, there is a second port on the hub so you could always add lights.

  27. I just bought a used Café Corner for €475. Didn’t think I would ever get one for a price that I would be willing to pay for it. Now Market Street is the only modular I don’t have but not too bothered about that.

  28. Bugatti from one of the Hut Group arrived by DHL..it was the $279 promo last week. LEGO outerbox, all good. I would check it closer but the box is in quarantine (ie my garage until my lazy butt finds a place to store (hide) it.

  29. PayPal no longer providing buyer protection for "resale" items. "We are excluding items intended for resale, including single item transactions or transactions that include multiple items, from reimbursement eligibility under our Purchase Protection Program." I wonder how they will go about determining what falls under this? https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/upcoming-policies-full

  30. I’ve been too busy to look at many of the manufacturing codes on the new sets. I think one was WW09 so early March. If we see a lot of sets from early in the year, then it might not last long once they relabel and sell out of their stockpile. If it’s a recent code, then it could be around for awhile.

  31. but if the buyer is not typically home...some back and forth...missed pick-up windows...sounds like a chance the package returns undeliverable w/ everyone angry. also the current CV stuff seems to result in delivery persons disregarding the signature requirement to avoid unnecessary personal contact If one goes that route, might be worth messaging the buyer to see if he/she available to sign for packages. Just opening the lines of communication gives me some assurances as scammers try to avoid communication...but even this can be a challenge for a new ebayer...I recently sold a $350 set to a newb buyer and she couldn't figure out how to message me for a few days. It all worked out but I was really nervous not hearing back right away.

  33. I got in on that 70% off sale on Frozen sets at Justice yesterday. I have several shipment notifications already. The bad thing is, I told my wife about the 60% off already marked down clearance sale, so she proceeded to spend over $200 on outfits for my daughter last night.

  36. Another $500 sold, shipped after 24 hours. 6 days after item sold, another message from Paypal notifying me of unauthorized purchase. That's 4 of 5 of sold listing >$400 being fraudulent purchases. Anybody else have this high rate of fraudulent purchases? Or am I being targeted somehow? Drop shipper scammer is looking likely since they're all going to different addresses in different states.
