  1. That doesn't mean that they were not contributors to the site and utilized what it had. Ed and I always said there were many more people than what the forum represented. I do feel extremely bad that the site is not a full functionality, but I am here working on it right now.

  3. Ordered a HP Train and six baseplates from Target. The baseplates were separated from the train right away. The train arrived today - in the largest Target box I have ever seen. The bubble mailers didn't even fill the box. At least the set was in mint condition and amazingly, no stickers.

  7. Yeah hard banned. Ridiculous sums spent every month. Easy to get around just get creative. Not sure it is worth the hassle though just stay above board and pay full retail and you will still do well these days. Free money is everywhere and people are spending it like it is going out of style (which it is).

  8. Did not buy any (thank goodness, I had that Bookstore teed up, but have been on a tear so thought better of it), but I did get a big box of bulk for FREE. I've found a some Harry Potter (triple decker bus), SW (some Ewok stuff), an Airplane, Alien Mothership (7065). Not quite as clean and easy as buying, but the price is right! 😂

  9. Well, got four Diner's today from Amazon. All bare shipped covered in stickers -- with the coronastickers as well so it looks like a kids sticker book. All shipped from Arizona to California via UPS. Beat to heck and pancaked. One even looks like someone used shipping tape to seal the end back up. I guess that's why Amazon and Target doesn't sell cars. They'd put them in a gigantic bubble mailer and stack them three high in a semitruck and deliver them upside down on your driveway. Then you'd open it up and find the odometer had 15000 miles on it, an amazon warehouse deal sticker on the license plate, and a strong smell of air freshener even though you bought it as "new". And when you call up customer service to complain, they offer you 20% off because that model is now out of stock.

  10. I'm a huge data nerd / quant myself so I can respect that. If I get some time I will dig up some tutorials on Selenium that might be useful and if you want take a hack at a script that will help you out.

  11. Fire House is also 2 years old this year, and usually, LEGO only has two Winter sets out at a time. Which tells me it's really time for me to pick it up.

  13. I took pictures today A total of 8 diners came this way over a couple of days. On the same day, Amazon also delivered two fresh in a box. Grrr... I might try to break even with these on ebay versus adding to my return tally. It'll be a good experiment to see if box condition really doesn't matter

  15. That’s the easy part. What I want to scrape is a few things, daily, like the name, URL, author, and supporter count for an individual project that has at least 6,000 supporters. Anytime a project hits 6000 it needs to add it to the list. Compare the date a project was submitted to the number of votes that it has received. So If it hits 1000 supporters in say 5 days, add that to the list of “watch this one.” I’ll have to check my notes but I think the issue was scrapping the search page and not the individual product page. But it’s also trying to figure out exactly which element needed to be scraped causing me issues. I never got to the point of setting anything up in Python, as I was brute forcing it trying to figure out the elements first and never got past that stage.

  16. Funny, I did the same. The winter sets have been going for cheep during the pandemic. I recently completed my collection (also minus 10199, but I too have the re-release) with the PO, Cottage, and Market for about 20-30% lower than normal. Missing about 20 total pieces, two batteries for a light brick (target had a multi-pack 25% off), two stickers for the PO and the PO instructions. In the end, I BL'd the PO instructions and a few pieces I didn't have in my inventory. It is interesting comparing the cottage and PO to the most recent fire house - not near as snowy. Very different looks. Fire house should be going away this year. I've been told it is not a popular set. Hasn't even gone backorder during the pandemic while the gingerbread house went oos at least once.

  17. I had to stick Jyn in a lot with K2SO to offload her without losing money. I definitely learned my lesson on constraction (and figured out how to bundle sets effectively!)

  20. Can anyone recommend any decent tutorials for writing a Python script that monitors prices and emails me when they drop below a certain point? I've managed to write a script that monitors the price of one item using the Beautiful Soup module but, that obviously isn't that helpful when you consider that I'm interested in 20+ items across multiple sites. From what I can gather Selenium seems to be a better package for this application? All of my coding experience up to this point is using R to build models that predict species abundance and distribution so I'm very much a beginner with Python.

  21. Not@donbee, but I’d like to create a scraper to look at LEGO Ideas daily to populate a spreadsheet. So I can do a little analysis whenever a new set breaks the 6,000 supporter mark, or achieves support, or is climbing the ladder quick.

  22. Schedule C. Investment income doesn't work...I've looked into that before. There's a trick you can do if you set up a LLC and choose for it to be taxed like a S-corp...you can save like 6%-7% on any money that you pay yourself as wages for running the business, but it's a total PIA...I did it for one year and gave it up because the hassle wasn't worth 6%-7%.

  28. 7019 Vikings Fafnir Dragon Fortress This set had been on my list for eons, and I finally found a decently priced one a few weeks ago. Missing a few pieces, nearly complete. Build was pretty basic, tons of stacking, but the overall product looks great, especially on the castle shelf. Overall, I really like it. I generally like bigger sets that don't use tons of tiny pieces, and this one has a certain classic feel to it. Can't believe this thing was a cool 70 bucks at retail, considering the size, features, and dragon. Oh yeah, and the box flips

  31. Not lego, but Amazon did ship me a small box of light bulbs in a large bag, no bubble, no padding. The packaging of the light bulbs is just a flimsy box, which promptly burst open. One of the four light bulbs was outside its packaging and just free flowing inside the bag when I received it. Miraculously none broke.

  32. It's crazy to me hearing these horror stories from Target shipping. They have always been one of the better ones for me, sure their boxes have been way too big for sets at times, but I have had that issue with Amazon before as well. This past December I ordered 3 of the same set from Target, but they only sent two. I did a claim on their app stating that one was missing and they resent my entire order so I ended up with 5. Maybe I need to knock on some wood now.

  34. So I just got this message.... this is for a funko pop. Hello, My name is %^%$%^ and I LOVE this so much and been wanting it really bad! Would you please please please kindly be willing to donate one to me please? I have a TBI & brain injury and am often in a wheelchair because my legs are really messed up. I also have PTSD, Panic Attacks, Major Depression, Night Terrors, Lymphedema, Lung and rib cage trauma from broken ribs that punctured my left lung. I died and even left my body when I was 5 years old. I don't have any money and I live on disability income. After rent, utilities, gas, petcare, and necessities, I am broke. In Fact my Mom has to pay my cable and phone because I can't even afford that with my disability. We have a few cats that have special needs. One was hit by a car before we adopted her. We noticed her tail wasn't working when we got her home. She just dragged it and she had a limp. They didn't expect her to live this long. She is 14 and still kicking. I would appreciate it greatly and would really mean the world to me. Thank you for your time. Please keep safe. Kindest Regards,

  38. Sorry that its dead to you, but hopefully you will come back one day. I am sorry that it is taking time, but that is what it is, time. I am busy in my work world and don't really have the time or energy to work on the site during the week, so most of my work is during my weekend evenings. Is that really a crime, I sure hope not. There is life, work, family and BrickPicker. I am doing what I can, when I can and sorry that it may not be good enough for you. I do hope you can understand.

  39. Finally completed my Winter Village collection (ok, I don't have 10199, but I have the re-release). Built 10216 Bakery and 10222 Post Office after grabbing a partial lot for 10222 and bricklinking/borrowing from personal collection for the rest of the pieces. Still waiting for 1 sticker to arrive (for the pretzel sign) and need to change out the horse for the correct version, but this is now built with no substitutions from the original kit (even the tiles with clip and the 1x2 jumpers are the correct versions). I have to admit it is quite nerve-wrecking to put together a set when you know that the piece you are holding is going for $5-$10 used on BL. I'm looking at you, 8x8 plates in Trans-Blue, and you, brick arch 1x8x2 in Medium Nougat, and you, 8 plate 1x2 with handle on side in Tan. Total across EBay and BL (including the aforementioned expensive pieces, all stickers and manuals) will have set me back ~$230. Not cheap, but cheaper than picking them up second hand complete (each go for ~$200 used complete on EBay currently). I figured now was a better time than closer to the holidays to finish this project. Used the opportunity to try out my new lightbox for taking pictures, but ran out of space displaying both at the same time

  42. I remember seeing an entire bin full of Rey constraction sets (4 deep x 7 wide x 20 thick) at a TRU during bankruptcy selling for $5 each. It was a nearly square block of them. I pointed it out to my kids and they laughed. Sorry for your pain. You too will laugh... some day.
