I was contacting LEGO about something else and the conversation was going so well I asked if they would ever release any more promo codes for the 75522 mini boost droid commander GONK polybag. The kind fellow checked and said they had a few in stock (wow!) so he would send one to me for the equivalent amount of VIP points! So I "bought" 75522 today. I felt like a kid again... getting super excited over a bag of plastic parts with a few silly droids in it... I think I may have to open it.4 points

I agree and respectfully disagree. I do believe that the inevitable restock is coming now that Mexico is open, but I'm not sure about the high supply levels going into the season. It is going to take some time just to get back to regular stock levels with the short window given. IMO, I don't see any way that we will have high levels of all sets in that short amount of time. I do, however, believe that there will be unmatched opportunity this Christmas if you are positioned correctly.3 points

Hello everyone. I thought I should introduce myself, so here I am. Like many new AFOLs, the Lockdown has led me to a current state of Lego obsession. Having just caught up with logging my sets on Brickset I see that in just over 2 months I have bought 71 sets at a rate of exactly 1 set a day. Perhaps I have an obsessive personality? Star Wars was my gateway drug (75256 Kylo Ren's Shuttle) but I have now included various sets from Ideas, Creater Expert (RIP), Architecture, TLM1 and 2, and Monkie Kid. I have Modulars backordered (I kind of hope I don't like them so I don't feel the need to collect them all). Sets now range from 30340 Emmet's 'Piece' Offering (don't laugh) to 75192 UCS MF (worth every penny). In an attempt to justify/pay for this new found addiction (show my wife that I am not throwing away our retirement fund on toys) I have now started to buy for investment - hence joining you wonderful people. I will only ever be small time (holding 30-50 sets at any one time I reckon) and I will be buying medium to large sets and probably not for QF. I have been working my way through various threads and I have to say that the helpfulness displayed by people who are essesntially competitors is restoring my faith in human nature. By the way, I know that current selling prices are exceptional and will not be the norm. I have one question to begin with - what is the best way to store investment sets? I have a big loft (attic, for our North American friends) so space isn't the issue. I mean boxes flat or on their side? Which way have you found reduces/prevents bowing and pressure on the seals? Please be gentle... Cheers2 points

Supply will not catch up for Christmas, there is just no way. To even come close, I expect that many sets (that had a planned ending this year) will simply not be produced going forward.2 points

you are the real MVP. I'm super excited. Love this board and all of you guys.2 points

I think you overestimate the capacity of individual resellers to act for their collective benefit. Every reseller would be better off in the long run by never undercutting any other reseller on price, but that never happens. What we're seeing play out right now are the same forces of supply and demand that always drive the Lego market . The only difference is the COVID threw a huge wrench into the gears of the market , increasing demand well beyond the capacity of primary market retailers to manage (at least for non-retired sets), which led to a decrease in supply, which created the opening for secondary market resellers to fill the void. It's not the resellers that are keeping prices high...it's the lack of supply, but that is already beginning to even out.2 points

I am observing something: 1. some new (non-retired) sets emerges of recent scarce sets 2. Resellers hoovering them up almost instantly 3. sky-rocket prices hold 4. Now that end buyers are accustomed to the high prices...can the global resellers "with-hold" new stock to keep prices "artificially high"...and for how long? Due to the delay and limited LEGO manufacturing limitations; I think a special scenario is playing out where the resellers are able to keep prices high...it will be an interesting struggle leading up to the Christmas season...2 points

This didn't seem too far off. I remember when LEGO Shop at Home would have an unannounced fire sale where the last of the remaining inventory suddenly showed up for sale at some steep discount that only a lucky few would discover before the set was gone forever.2 points

Year 2 as a spot, and in the shipping box, under down blanket has worked for me so far with zero seal stressing. Temp of sets is usually cool to touch even when quite hot in attic so i haven't doubted the bricks. Still, I don't want to risk by expensive sets up there.1 point

My goodness the price is steep. Ill take a treehouse over this any day.1 point

Not this brand but similar, Briksmax on Amazon. I believe they are all basically the same LEDs out of China, just different retailer. I found these LED kits to be too much work (vonado, briksmax, lightmybricks). I prefer the kits from Brick Loot. I was adding lights to Ninjago City. Briksmax had a a nice looking kit as far as what was lit up. Putting it together was a nightmare. So many LED wires to jumper boards daisy chained to other jumper boards and the pin connectors were soooo tiny I had to use a magnifying glass to see what I was connecting. I broke a connector during the process which disabled the top half of the lights. LEDs were not connected to the bricks and you have to tape or assemble the LEDs yourself as go, not at all fun. Brick Loot LED kits come pre fabricated in the Lego brick (or bogus bricks brick) and are already daisy chained together. Installation was so much easier and no magnifying glasses were needed. The downside is the Ninjao City kit wasn’t as nice looking as the Lightmybricks kit.1 point

I have noticed color variations in the pearl gold pieces a lot in the past. This shouldn't be anything that affects value. I have recently bought a couple 41101 Grand Hotel, which has a ton of the pearl gold color and those variations were stark in contrast. Those are known variances in this color. Take my Lego blinders off??? Never. If I did that, next thing you know, I'd probably running all over the damn place hunting crap with that kid Ryan on it.1 point

Dang, there must be some good bots out there biting them up right away. This is the second or third time it's restocked since I started alerts on target alone. I might cave next time... Red card discount might be the best we get on this set. At the same time, it's relatively new and the falcon is still out behind it so who knows.1 point

The driving wheels are set up in a Flanged-Blind-Flanged pattern. The middle big wheels are the Blind ones. This is because the front 2 big wheels are fixed to the front section of the Crocodile, and the pivot is between the front and the center sections of the train, which causes this middle wheel to move laterally and not sit on the track when going through a curve. This would have led to a derailment if it was a Flanged wheel.1 point

i think there has been some speculation that one, the other or both could potentially retire, but no certainty. i think you will see both come back into stock at some point and then who knows, maybe diner goes but i think the garage may have another year. believe the one that a lot of folks were most worried about is assembly square.1 point

My boy has been absolutely obsessed about trains since being 2 years old...therefore I have become a bit of an expert (like any good parent 😬) I have seen them all...and in my opinion, when it comes to trains "Ugly" is beautiful....it's like appreciating the wrinkles on the face of someone who has lived quite a life...character lines. The "sleek" look of todays trains, albeit aerodynamic; hides the soul...like those damn plastic covering of the engine bay of cars nowadays..."uhm..there's already a hood...I like to see how the damn car runs rather than a giant manufacturer logo in plastic"1 point

warning to those hunting the Hiddenside Trains from Target ($59)...my two came "punched in the gut". (typical Target: box waaay too big; laughable cushioning, pressure dents within the mid-point of set boxes)1 point

Question regarding the original Jabba Minifig. Has anyone tried taking one of the body section apart (safely)? I have a few of these that have loose pieces inside that have clearly been inserted by kids (they jiggle around like a maraca) - I would love to remove them some day.1 point

I had one the other day - "can I make an offer on this set?" (It's a BIN). "Also, can you expedite shipping so I can get it by Friday for my son's preschool graduation?" I ignored. The set? Scooby Doo Mystery Mansion1 point
