Nice. I'm sure while others were bidding it up, you had the obligatory guy who said, "What's your lowest price?" or "I'll give you $35. I can meet today."3 points

can't help but think that once Mexico is back up and running they are going to crank out a big batch of sets that are slated for retirement. completely understand the current situation, but there would be a lot of pissed of customers that couldn't get one of these sets. and what would it take to fire up the line already producing said sets? and LEGO, as a company, is all about the customer. could be wrong. but my guess is there will still be a chance at sets slated for retirement this year.2 points

Check that it hasn't yellowed. It's a terrible set for that. I bit on it and it's all still white and bagged up perfectly complete with a manual and slightly damaged box. Woohoo!2 points

Thanks Ed. I'm in the Greater Toronto Area in southern Ontario so not too far from the border. UPS does ship to my area. I'll get some tickets for other prize lots, but those two just seem so good!1 point

The Corner Garage would need to retire at the end of 2021 to have the same life as Brick Bank. Diner might go, but I doubt there will be a double retirement. The retirement of Detective's Office and Brick Bank was probably to 'catch up' on retirements, since Pet Shop had lasted so long that there was no retirement in 2015.1 point

these (along with pretty much all sets on target.com) go in and out of stock every day if you watch carefully1 point

This will give you a little room for padding.1 point

I write a warning now in the item description about ongoing shipment delays, especially with USPS. And I answer all the complaining messages apologizing asking for patience in these unusual times. If they message again I tell them to open an item not delivered case with EBay. I have not had one case open against me yet but I spoke to Ebay trying to prepare for it (them). I was told that due to covid19 Ebay takes more time to close such cases knowing that the package may arrive at any time. It is a very very common occurrence all over right now. I also was told that provided evidence the item was actually shipped Ebay would remove negative feedbacks due to shipping delays/losses. I am not sure how much of that it is true. I have not been at that stage yet.1 point

i think we will see one of the modular's retire. but i'm not sure if it's Assembly Square. it might be the Diner. i believe the Death Star is almost certain to poof this year. HP and Disney Castle could be likely candidates as well. who knows.1 point

I found a site like this about a month ago. I looked up their phone number and address. They were legit... for a completely different business. Here is what the address lookup shows: https://www.google.com/maps/place/448+E+Pioneer+Ave,+Homer,+AK+99603/@59.6471474,-151.534113,3a,75y,343.46h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s0D_Dsr3sWPO9CmAaNuKMGA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!4m5!3m4!1s0x56c12d8a055aa39b:0x3b3ac3005e2140f6!8m2!3d59.6473925!4d-151.5340736 I wouldn't trust it at all. On a side note, I found a "review" website that was reviewing this online store more than their products.... lol, yeah, that seems legit - NOT! Edit: I looked a little closer at the link I just posted. One of the businesses at that address is an "Internet Cafe". Hmmm...1 point

Lego did put out a statement regarding COVID-19 on the Ambassador network: This leaves more questions than answers for me.1 point

I just don't see the Community set having enough widespread appeal for LEGO to take it on like the Big Bang or Friends sets. That windmill is awesome. With Elves gone, I'd really love to see a line that focuses on fantasy/medieval settings that aren't strictly "knights/castle." I know the creator of the windmill set also submitted a Legend of Zelda set, and that is right in line with what I am picturing.1 point

When you run out of space for your LEGO, you are supposed to buy a bigger house.1 point

Yeah, I suppose most peoples amusement parks are themed as more "bright sunny day, primary color, everything is happy" types. And with space constraints, it will be hard to fit this in as a ride without it being somewhat jarring compared to the rest of the fairground sets. In a real theme park, you would move to a transition space that would help it make visual sense... But I am looking at it as a stand alone model. And from that perspective it almost looks more like an incredibly well done MOC in all the best ways.1 point

I've been going to the supermarket 1x per week for the past 8 weeks and it's quite common to see toilet paper, ramen, ground beef, all fresh poultry and healthy bread completely out of stock. Any items that make staying home easier for parents are also gone from most places (laptops, video game consoles, outdoor playsets/swings, etc). There seems to still be plenty of toys down the aisles, but I'm not sure if that's just clever reorganizing or lack of buying. The amount of money given out to people here in the US has spurred on a buying spree for many lower income families that aren't used to the extra cash flow. A $3500 check for a family of 4 and $1000+/week for those that lost their jobs and can obtain unemployment benefits is a windfall for many families that haven't had more than $50-$100/wk in non-allocated spending money for years. I'm enjoying the extra income with a large increase in Lego sales, but I'm concerned at what this means in the long term. The estimate right now is that the average tax burden per family is >$25k for all the debt the money the country is printing for this "stimulus". That's a lot of taxes to pay or a very long road to recovery.1 point

I think the challenge here is that you basically said we are all "greedy" ... like that was a condescending view. Most of the folks here are buying legos and then trying to make a profit. Your assumption that greed is bad is what set most folks off. Prices reflect a combination of supply and demand for any particular good or service. To blame a price on a "greedy" person simply conveys a particular bias and simply put, an ignorance, on how a simple market operates. Just because you assumed that this is a place for an "inside track" doesn't change the fact that you wanted something (greed) from the group as well. In the end we are all looking out for ourselves, our families, and simply put, our own best interests. To expect anything else is simply naive. I am sorry you had a bad experience, but my experience is that vast majority of folks in this forum are thoughtful and very interesting. I have grown to enjoy their participation and look to them for camaraderie and shared experience through our lego investing journey. I wish you much fun and happiness on your quest to find a Red 5. That is how many of us got started ....1 point
