  1. It’s alway a pleasure building the 10175 UCS Vader Tie from 2006. It is starting to look dated but still a nice looking set. It’s been nearly 7 years since I built my first 10175. The 1st pic is from 2013. It was a nice pickup then at $85 w/ the manual. Only needed some elements that were bricklinked for less than $8 with postage. This pic is from today. This set came with the box & manual. Picked it up 2 years ago at a nice price. forgot the exact price and will need to look it up. Much better quality of bricks (far less yellowish ones including the rare round cockpit cover) than my original.

  2. W/o sports has been my Cold Turkey period. No organized youth sports for my kids to play (I coach them). No MLB to attend or watch. We have Phillies & Yankees season tix. I caught myself watching vintage bowling highlights the other day and nearly turned my kids’ air hockey table into a Beer Pong one until the wife said “no” unless I clean up the basement (that will miss up my Lego catalogue system) & paint this & that. I declined and walked backwards into my hole.

  4. I bought a used star wars lot a week or two ago for $100. The pictures just showed a bunch of loose brick in a couple bins. After I got home I kind of had buyer's remorse on it and just set it off to the side. I started going through it last night and to my joy discovered a 75158 rebel Combat Frigate, 75188 resistance bomber, 75104 kylo ren shuttle, 75102 poe's x-wing, 75103 first order transporter, and a 75189 first order walker... all in various stages of completeness, but it looks like all minifigures for each set are there and I inventoried the 75158 and it is about 99% complete. So very happy it worked out haha. Also, not sure who posted the link for the lego raffle sub reddit, but in the past 5 days I have won a 75191 jedi starfighter with hyperdrive and a bundle of the 3 new helmet sets!

  5. I've had a Bricklink store for a while and in the last 2-3 years averaged around 55,000 parts and 400 minifigures (all new); giving me around 225 orders per year. As others have mentioned, if you're parting out sets look for a minimum of 3x buy-in, otherwise you'll be doing a lot of work for a minimal return. I work full-time so I'm quite happy with that level of orders; it's enough to keep me occupied in the winter months, but not too much. You'll find that some parts will be in regular demand, whilst others will remain in your inventory for years unless you sell them very cheaply! I'd strongly recommend avoiding the 'Friends' colour spectrum; the 'Classic' type sets look attractive on paper but they include a lot of odd colours and parts that aren't in demand.... If you're buying new, purchase multiples of a set - it makes parting-out a lot easier and you'll attract more buyers, as you'll have greater quantities available. If you're buying licensed sets, either buy early in their lifecycle with as much of a discount as possible (as the minifigures will still be in demand and have a 'premium') or alternatively buy as cheap as possible and be prepared to hold them for a while. For example, I did very well with parting-out the 2018 Harry Potter sets when they were first released (and found them at 30-40% off) but in the last 12 months they've flatlined - as the market is awash with them, combined with lower demand. In all honesty, I've enjoyed it most of the time but unless you've got access to a lot of high-demand stock, there's easier and greater profits from selling sealed sets. Some stores seem to do incredibly well, but from what I've seen you'd need a large inventory (250,000 parts+) for a viable return, and also make a lot of good decisions. I hope this helps.

  6. another pirate ship headed our way? https://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-creator-summer-2020-official-images/

  7. Yeah, I mean the people holding the raffles make money. It might not be a ton, but they do make some I am sure. They value the raffle at full retail if it is still in stores and 6 month BL average if retired. And then they price shipping to the furthest corner of the US from where they are. So if I raffled something off I would list shipping cost as the price from VA to WA and then hope someone in zone 1 2 or 3 wins it. So I would hold my raffle at 8am east coast time when most west coasters are still sleeping.

  8. 40380 Easter Sheep and 70420 Graveyard Mystery I refuse to miss a Brickheadz - gotta keep the complete collection going. Which means buying at retail so I don’t miss out. Which means to get free shipping I gotta buy something else. So a Hidden Side set it is. I’m less disturbed paying retail for a $30 set than an $80 set. So yeah.

  9. The Pack and the Hawkeyes have always had a good relationship. I can see them taking another one this year.

  10. Wow, Creator has really been bringing it lately. I really like that we still get to see "Space" themes outside of Star Wars and the reintroduction of some classics like Pirates. I really think we are overdue for a traditional "Castle" but I think Lego might still see the licensed castles to fill that niche unfortunately. Something like the Lowenstein would be nice. My only complaint is that we only have Pirates, i want to being back some of the blue/red coats.

  11. Since my Packers are owned by the fans you can rest assured that I won’t F up our picks this year. [emoji23] I’m hoping Jefferson falls to us at 30, or maybe Gute will trade up to snag him. He’s a difference maker, and after Davante Adams Rodgers has nobody reliable to throw to. GPG!!!

  13. I mean, the first thing I sold on eBay was a $500 camera, you just gotta be wary of scams. If it's a buy-it-now and they pay immediately, ship to a normal residential address that's paypal confirmed, then it should be pretty straightforward.

  16. Make sure "Best Offer" is not checked off. Sometimes it can sneakily be added and then you get an auto accept of $30 for a $200 set.

  17. The Space rover looks suspiciously inspired by the Chariot from the new Lost In Space. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing a one-off like Stranger Things. All of the secondary builds are really clever. I really want to see the Pirate House up close and the large skull looks right up Alpinesmaps alley for his Pirate Park.

  18. Totally agree. I'm burnt out on the licensed themes. Creator brings back the nostalgia with original LEGO creations and that memorable yellow box. I'm all in after the Pirate Roller Coaster! If they start rolling out Castle's...

  22. Yeah, I watch those BHz like a hawk now. I got burned on Mickey and Minnie, originally. Figuring they would go on sale, and they evaporated quickly. I moved quickly and only paid a little bit over retail, but after that I pledged never to wait on them. The "complete collection" means more than saving 20% of on a $10 item. So I feel ya!

  23. Ha, not sure. Dave G. sure sounds like he doesn’t understand tech all that much. He “rebooted...and...hired 4 computer folks”. In all fairness, I always liked the Daniel Jones pick. I'm not so sure about the other picks and trades.

  25. I got the sheep last week and while putting it away I realized that I had missed the Valentine's bear... luckily I found one on Ebay last night for $17.97 and it included a 40187 flower set w/ it. The flower set is going for about $13 by itself it looks like, so after I sell that I should be back pretty close to retail price on the bear haha.

  30. Sorry, going to keep these as long as the price keeps going up. € 315 is the cheapest in the Netherlands on BL right now. Cheapest on Marktplaats is €300 currently. Only 2 sellers. Even a used build version already gets an offer of €225 there ! Glad I decided to buy 2 at €150 each back when it was "retiring soon" but still available at some stores. In hindsight: should've bought more!

  31. Contact buyer for his address since GSP only shows you the destination country, find those missing pieces from BL seller in his country, order him the parts for free.

  32. I’m probably a bricklink oddball, but I primarily sell used parts. My inventory started with Bionicle, basically as a way to get rid the piles of it from bulk lots that didn’t involve giving it away. I tend to stay around 10,000 parts in inventory, bit low now as people have been bored so sales have been up. I don’t have a minimum buy (and have had a few $0.01 orders) but charge a flat $2 service charge on each order. As others have noted, make your shipping template simple and clear and allow onsite payment, also don’t be afraid of international shipping to increase your pool of potential buyers. I primarily sell on Amazon so the bricklink thing is a bit of a side gig, but it is an enjoyable one.

  34. Most here have covered the basics but with a small inventory you are going to have a very hard time selling and actually making any money. I don't even think about parting a set out unless it's a minimum of a 300% markup for the parts but try for 400%+. Otherwise the amount of time spent inventorying and then packing will kill you. I also try and make sure I have a large selection of minifigures as well because people seem to always want to throw in a few parts with figures and it is fairly easy to buy minifigure lots off eBay or other market places and double or triple the prices. I agree with one poster about reselling some sets instead of parting it out. It doesn't make sense to part out a set for not much more then you can sell for outright.

  38. 3065 Olivia's Tree House There's a story behind this one - for about 9 months, when this one was still available (2011-2013), it would randomly go on sale. And every single time, I'd miss out on it. It became an obsession mine to pick this one up. Finally grabbed one off of eBay in 2015. Finally decided to put it together yesterday. Cute little build. Makes me want the Ideas Treehouse even more.

  40. IDK...w/ the recent disclosure (since removed) that LEGO is cutting back production, and the clear supply chain issues in general globally...and the concerns of unemployment dampening future sales...those tea leaves point to LEGO retiring sets aggressively. The ones that have been available for awhile are likely on the short list...IMO

  41. $40 on “Offer Up”. Almost 40lbs including the containers, about 95% Lego. I could use some help, there are a lot of Minifig pieces. I know how to identify torsos and legs as Lego, how do I identify arms and heads?

  42. There were two or three other times during the season when the beards should have beat the couple. But every time it was close, the judges chose the white-bread, picket-fence, snore-fest couple. I feel like he is an honest, goofy, likeable-ish guy and she is an alien shape shifter attempting to pull off an impression of a perfect American suburban wife from an 80s sitcom. I had a feeling when the beards’ underground layer build got second that it was going to take an utter meltdown by the couple to make the judges go any other way. While I like both judges, neither has anything resembling an edge to them, so it was pretty much them picking the thing that reminded them of themselves. This isn’t a knock on the couple’s skill, they were like a 99 out of 100, but I feel the beards were a 100.

  43. Jeff is working on it along with many other things. I think some folks need to remember, our owners & mods have lives outside of brickpicker. we have spouses, kids , regular jobs, houses, etc... this is also a free web site, so jeff and ed don't have hired workers "standing ready to go" to work on items when they can't. That's why folks should use the brickfolio export feature often. The good news is that no data is lost. It's all there. Just give Jeff as much time as he needs.
