That's why it just needs to go into the vault for a year or two and let the riff-raff weed themselves out.....8 points

I wish are profiles would show which state we live in. Over the years I have been able to get an idea of where members are located. Alpine Maps is in Switzerland, Exciter1 lives in an Amish community and Darth_Raich is on a Death Star somewhere.5 points

Continuing (and finishing) my lengthy Toycentric story from page 223, I just got off the phone with PayPal's dispute department. As I've preached time and time again on here, don't let these jackholes get away with this crap. I refused to give Paypal a dime all this time, waiting in vain for a response from corporate, only to get a collections notice in the mail last week. I called those nice people and they filed it as a refusal to pay (the guy really was nice, just fulfilling a function) and suggested I wait a few days before contacting PayPal again to try and work something out. So I called and after fighting with the horrible phone tree a few minutes, got a real person, working from home. I said "Bear with me, I'm going to throw a lot of information at you" - and proceeded for about 15 minutes to give every little detail of my story. He was familiar with and despised drop shippers in general, and when it was all done said "We're just going to file an appeal on this" and went silent for a couple minutes and then said "OK, hopefully you don't run into anybody like that again." I asked how the appeal process worked, what the time frame for a decision was, etc... and he said "I took care of it... you should see the funds in your account in about 30 minutes". Damn. Customer service endures, hiding in very small pockets here and there, fighting like a guerilla strike team... ok I'm tired sorry. So once again I strongly urge you all to stand up for what you know is right. Sure some of you more business minded people may decide you don't have time for what I've done, but for the small-timers who think they have to take it lying down... nope. Just keep on fighting the good fight. eBay beat me once but I'm about 4-1 with them and now 1-0 with PayPal. And may Toycentric forever burn in reseller hell, buried in 6 trillion tons of Joker Steamrollers...2 points

I wanted to create a new thread in order to give progress on my site updates. I want explain a bit on what happened and what I am doing. What happened with the site? Honestly nothing really exciting or dramatic, overall in the end, I did not want to support the host I was with for the past four years after not really offering too much help with managed servers. They would spend 30 seconds looking, say they can ping the server so its up and then just say, "hey not my problem". I was on aging hardware, paying the same amount of money, so I took the opportunity to move to a new host with better/faster hardware and a staff that does help to support you when run into an issue that you can't handle on your own. I have been doing this a long time and pretty good monitoring and handling 99% of what comes my way, but there are issues that you need the next level up to help figure out what to do. I wasn't getting anything like that, but paying for it. Not anymore. What my goal is... I know more than anyone that the site needed some TLC. It's been a while since I have done any drastic updates, the site looked tired and I know the site can be so much better than what it's current state was. LEGO investing has changed since Ed and I launched the site and it's time to remove the dead content and bring more of what people are looking for. Below is the short term list of items planned for updating. I have been working on the nightly, just like the early days and enjoying seeing parts of it coming to life. Fix the login. This has been messed up and quirky for a while. This has been resolved and working well. It's a simple thing overall, but nice that it actually works how it's supposed to Overall price guide site design update. The site was tired and disjointed. I hated it and pained me to look at it. Time to start over. Brickfolio update. All the Brickfolio data is safe. I have close to three million rows of data for Brickfolio entries. Time to bring this thing to 2020. I will probably create another thread at some point to solicit some feedback on some new requests for the brickfolio Fix the data syncing with Brickset. A lot of people used this feature, but it's time to make it work the way it should. Later I will work on the content portions. The news and blogs. I have some good ideas for this, but want to get the price guide and brickfolio to you sooner than later. What I am asking for if possible... If you can, please stop asking where the brickfolio is. Again, the data is safe and I am working as fast as I can to bring it all back to you. It won't be a few days, but more like a few weeks, but it will be worth it. I setup my dev environment to push releases quick and easy. I want to create a true changelog so that you can follow updates to see what was done/fixed/new/removed, you know like what real software companies do. I really do appreciate your patience with this. It wasn't planned, but if there was going to be a time to do it, it was going to be now.1 point

Like many others, I too was hesitant on modulars after Pet Shop. BB just looked too great to skip out on though, so I kept buying. I didn’t buy any Assembly Squares, and only 6 Detective Offices, so there’s that. Of the current offerings, I’m waiting for Corner Garage to start seeing some discounts to load up. Great looking building. I’m not too keen on the Downtown Diner or Book Shop though, and I’m not quite sure why either.1 point

Are you referring to it selling for $100 on eBay? I'm not seeing it that low on Amazon where I sell.1 point
-
No kidding. Prices have already dropped from $140-150 to just $100 in 2 days. I don't get why or how people sell stuff that low. The guy selling for $100 free shipping right now is in Miami FL... If he gets a west coast buyer he will lose money.1 point

It took less than that after 1987. My dad had been investing in stocks for my college fund. He let me make some investments. I bought 200 shares of a $4 stock. I watched it for about six months and it went up to $5.50 and in one day dropped to $2 in the '87 crash. I wanted to buy more but my dad wouldn't let me. Two years later the same stock was trading @ $8-9/ share. I ended up selling all of it because I doubled my money. Fast forward about 10 years and I looked up the same stock just for giggles. It was now trading at $35 / share. Oh, it gets better. It had split 2:1... FOUR TIMES in ten years. My original $800 investment, had I kept it, would have been worth over $110k. *sigh* lol1 point

Damn that's incredible Terry. I think a lot of us stopped stocking up on these after Pet Shop etc. I'm happy holding 1 right now lol.1 point

It’s times like these that I like to think about what leaders of the past said and did with the time and influence they had. Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., John Kennedy, John Lennon. They and many other true heroes gave their lives to do what was right and just, and for all people not just a few well connected members of any particular elite circle. I think the charts presented in this particular article present what has come and why I and many others feel so betrayed, and find it hard to be proud of the current USA, no matter who happens to be in the White House today or tomorrow. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/04/10/opinion/coronavirus-us-economy-inequality.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage1 point

Pausing Account Suspensions for Order Performance Similar to how Amazon is working to get our fulfillment capabilities back to regular operations, we have heard from many of you who are also facing challenges in running your businesses. To protect your account and ensure these supply chain and fulfillment difficulties do not impact your Account Health, beginning March 20, we stopped suspending selling accounts for high cancelation or high late shipment rates. Effective immediately, we are also stopping suspension of selling accounts for high order defect rates. These changes will stay in effect through May 15. We will continue to evaluate the situation, and let you know if we will extend this further. Making reliable promises for customers remains particularly important at this time, and so we appreciate everything you are doing to fulfill your orders successfully, and we encourage you to put your account on vacation if you are not able to do so. If you are fulfilling and shipping your own products directly to customers, we have created the following content 45 as a reminder of our policies and best practices. If you have additional questions, please feel free to use our forums – our moderators and experienced sellers can help answer any of your questions.1 point

Lot's of blame to go around. Trump and his golfing pisses me off. He used to rail about Obama doing the same. Obviously, he screwed up, but so did many of the people who were supposed to be watching this sort of thing. A few noticed for sure, but were ignored or shut down for fear of scaring people and shaking up the economy. Democrats were too busy worrying about impeaching him. The cable news networks didn't care either, more worried about gotcha moments about Trump. The hoax thing was taken out of context, but he doesn't help himself with the way he babbles at times. I think he was right about China for years and now maybe people will correct that. Other countries have their own issues and many have handling it no better than us. I realize the USA sets the tone, but things were running pretty smoothly until the virus hit. A lot of these shortages are on individual state and local governments/hospitals. Most had no idea this was coming. Some states and countries seem to be handling this well at the moment, with a good mix of testing and smart social distancing. The solution though, has to be an economic one as well. People have to return to work and we must figure out a way to do this safely and quickly. Moving forward, blaming people and fear porn will not help. The US task force has been upping their game and even Trump has handled himself a little better. If the news media would just give him a break for a couple of months, maybe he will return the favor. I am starting to see where the rich, influential and powerful are taking advantage of the situation. They act like they care and in the meantime making money off of regular Americans. It's easy for these people on TV to go out there and tell people to stay home when they get paid the same. I am tired of the news and don't really watch it anymore. I can't. They are trying to control me and everyone else. I will puke if I hear talk about another "model." We will get thru this. May will be a much better month.1 point

As a NJ resident with many ties in both north and south NJ, I can tell you that Cuomo and DeBlasio took too long to shut that city down. NJ was in lockdown days before NY and NY schools took way too long to close. I think Cuomo is doing a solid job now, but he was part of the issue at first, even telling DeBlasio any lockdown has to go thru him. Regardless, it is improving and I think Trump, Cuomo, Murphy(NJ) and Wolf (PA) are working well together. I just want to start hearing ways they are going to slowly reopen the economy.1 point

And at the same time the Fed releases $2.3B in loan commitments including a new $600M for small businesses to prime the pump. And the market is holding even today (no trading tomorrow for the Good Friday holiday). I think the market baked the jobless claims into the 30% the market lost already.1 point

My Walmart doesn't even know which side of the Lego box is the front, so I'm not sure if this will help them or confuse them more.1 point
-
For retail could be smart as well as it encourages people to pick up the box. Although that doesn't work well with my glass-cased walmarts.1 point

This is an innovation by LEGO - of creating unique box art - is definitely one I can get behind.1 point

Listed my Pet Shop and it sold for $475.95 (CAD). Had to pay $72.88 in fees and $43.84 in shipping 😩 Paid $223.99 (retail price) for the set. Still walked away with $135.24 in profit, which is something I guess.1 point

I’ve always been a believer in this set. Hello...!? It’s a bank! Banks = $$. Wish I would have bought more than 24. Should be $500 by summer and pushing $625-$650 by Christmas at this rate. It feels good to pick a winner once in awhile, and not Joker Steamrollers.1 point

Ok - nobody who participated in the above conversation is EVER, EVER allowed to complain that EBay/Paypal fees are too high, even if they go up to 25%. You know it is too good to be true, and still you order. Unless you're just going to take your loss, you are going to get EBay/Paypal to make it right, which in the end costs us all money. Thanks.1 point
