  3. They'll just go home and live with mom and dad. Most parents I know that's what their kids did. Just based upon feedback I've heard from those managing Millennials, they'll probably be expecting a raise for surviving this.

  5. Received my FL order of 3 today. They sent them directly in the LEGO shipper, no outer box. No sign of the Easter Egg promo.

  8. I wanted to create a new thread in order to give progress on my site updates. I want explain a bit on what happened and what I am doing. What happened with the site? Honestly nothing really exciting or dramatic, overall in the end, I did not want to support the host I was with for the past four years after not really offering too much help with managed servers. They would spend 30 seconds looking, say they can ping the server so its up and then just say, "hey not my problem". I was on aging hardware, paying the same amount of money, so I took the opportunity to move to a new host with better/faster hardware and a staff that does help to support you when run into an issue that you can't handle on your own. I have been doing this a long time and pretty good monitoring and handling 99% of what comes my way, but there are issues that you need the next level up to help figure out what to do. I wasn't getting anything like that, but paying for it. Not anymore. What my goal is... I know more than anyone that the site needed some TLC. It's been a while since I have done any drastic updates, the site looked tired and I know the site can be so much better than what it's current state was. LEGO investing has changed since Ed and I launched the site and it's time to remove the dead content and bring more of what people are looking for. Below is the short term list of items planned for updating. I have been working on the nightly, just like the early days and enjoying seeing parts of it coming to life. Fix the login. This has been messed up and quirky for a while. This has been resolved and working well. It's a simple thing overall, but nice that it actually works how it's supposed to Overall price guide site design update. The site was tired and disjointed. I hated it and pained me to look at it. Time to start over. Brickfolio update. All the Brickfolio data is safe. I have close to three million rows of data for Brickfolio entries. Time to bring this thing to 2020. I will probably create another thread at some point to solicit some feedback on some new requests for the brickfolio Fix the data syncing with Brickset. A lot of people used this feature, but it's time to make it work the way it should. Later I will work on the content portions. The news and blogs. I have some good ideas for this, but want to get the price guide and brickfolio to you sooner than later. What I am asking for if possible... If you can, please stop asking where the brickfolio is. Again, the data is safe and I am working as fast as I can to bring it all back to you. It won't be a few days, but more like a few weeks, but it will be worth it. I setup my dev environment to push releases quick and easy. I want to create a true changelog so that you can follow updates to see what was done/fixed/new/removed, you know like what real software companies do. I really do appreciate your patience with this. It wasn't planned, but if there was going to be a time to do it, it was going to be now.

  12. But the box art is very clean on this and cosistent with the title: Wonder Woman vs Cheetah. Whereas Hidden Side was too busy with all sorts of things pictured on front and back of the box. LEGO is trying something new here. Had this been an Avengers set, it would have been called Wonder Woman vs Cheetah: Battle for Satellite Dish Tower with the satellite dish as the main focus of the box art.

  13. I’m a millennial and I bet I save more as a percentage of income earned than almost anyone. Granted I save by buying Lego, silver, land, machinist and woodworking equipment and tools. Generalizations are foolish, as evident by the number of boomers with almost no retirement savings. What is it 40%

  15. Nor do I. A media conspiracy presupposes there's such a thing as "the media", as in a single monolithic and sentient entity that can uniformly dictate how information is gathered and disseminated. It also assumes that "the media" has somehow convinced not only the current administration, but president himself to go along for the ride. I think the more likely conspiracy here is that folks that were naysayers from the beginning are still looking for ways to downplay the seriousness of the virus rather than acknowledge not only the ever increasing death tolls, but the extreme efforts required to keep those numbers as low as they are.

  16. Agreed, just read a good response to this from JD Vance: "There’s a way in which this claim is sort of interesting as an academic argument: effectively, how do we track deaths in an accelerating pandemic, where it isn’t possible to test everyone who’s dying? A lot of folks have picked up on CDC guidelines that don’t require a test to confirm a case of COVID. Others have focused on the “with/or” question—just because someone dies *with* COVID doesn’t mean that’s the cause of mortality. A few responses. First, people are right to say the situation is fluid and it’s tough to record every death accurately. But importantly, 1) this is true for every disease (do you think every flu death has a confirmed flu test? No, just check the CDC guidelines) and 2) miscounting goes both ways. There’s a lot of reason to think we’re undercounting deaths. First, it has happened in nearly every major European country. NYC public health officials have argued that where normally 20-25 people die per day at home, that number has been higher than 200 as the crisis has peaked. But the truth is that we won’t know until we can look at the all cause mortality numbers, and see how they’ve spiked or not in response to COVID. (To be clear, I have some qualms with how useful the all cause numbers will be here, but they’re probably the best we’ll have.) Many have argued that all cause mortality numbers are dropping lately (can’t find the tweets). This is wrong: CDC usually takes months to fully tabulate the data. There’s been a lot of misinformation here—a suggestion that pneumonia deaths are dropping because health officials are overstating COVID numbers, for instance, is widespread on twitter. All of this stems from the fact that our mortality numbers don’t fully come in for months. One exception here is NYC, which usually reports vital statistics rapidly (and has done so for many years). Finally, I think the “with/or” debate misunderstands something pretty fundamental about comorbidity. Most people who die of a respiratory illness (including, yes, the flu) aren’t totally healthy people. If a dude with a heart condition gets the flu and dies, but would have lived another 10 months absent influenza, did he die of the flu? This **** is complicated, but that doesn’t mean there’s a conspiracy to inflate COVID deaths."

  19. it was for a 10188 ( well two orders for the same set), so I would just cancel if it comes down to that . I will email and see . thanks

  20. you can always cancel 1 order and use address undeliverable . take a small hit to the oDR but as long as u are selling enough - no biggie. depends on the cost of the item. expensive item definitely would cancel. cheaper item, may or may not. bottom line is i i really don't want a mistakenly ordered contaminated FBM item being returned to my house so i would error on the side of assuming it was an error and cancel the order and take the odr hit and not get a virus-laden return. others may take a different point of view but as long as you are selling enough to keep your prefulfillment cancel rate under 2.5% , u r fine. u could also message the buyer through amazon and ask if they meant to place to separate orders. personally, i would not call because i would not want to be called.

  23. Tragic, but reiterates the importance of social distancing: https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/CDC-officials-trace-beginnings-of-Chicago-15187663.php Super-spreader ; 1 individual possibly responsible for many of Chicago's cases I wish the ages of the individuals along the chain were given by the article because, if we assume most of them were<60, it seems like this viral strain were especially potent/deadly. Social distancing both prevents the spread but also breaks the chain of infections...this article highlights how if the social distancing mandate was in forced before the wedding, or before the birthday party, or before the church gathering...lives would definitely have been saved.

  27. Yes. "LionsHead Ave, Carlsbad, CA". Shipped on Tuesday 4/7 (order placed on 4/2), but never received an 'order shipped' email from LLCA. For me, nothing was showing up on the FedEx Delivery Manager page---just a bunch of option settings. I poked around a bit and found this link https://fedex.com/apps/fedextracking/, which is in beta-testing. The shipments showed up there. HTH

  29. One thing that I have been thinking about is this: The other day I went in to our small business to do about 3 hours of work. We have been very lucky in that we have a few (mostly) passive income streams that keep us afloat. And as such, have basically been at home for 26 days. I typically LOVE my work, and am happy to go to work each day, and a month ago, my wife wouldn't have believed that I could stay home for even a week without going stir crazy. But, the other day I found myself already lamenting the end of our "stay at home phase" and was thinking maybe I should work WAY less, and instead stay home with my wife and kids more, and perhaps take a year off... All of that is to say...Don't most people hate or barely tolerate their jobs? If I am thinking about a new way forward, then A LOT of people are. What is that going to do to the new economy? Fascinating time to be a social scientist.

  31. You've invested your money wisely (though I would recommend a world index tracker to your portfolio also) and buying woodworking equipment is also an investment to your skill base and will save you in the long run. Sadly I think it's not just millennials who save very little and Im not talking people on the breadline but people who have vey well paid jobs. Thats consumerism for you. If you have a spare 30mins I'd recommend The Overspent American by US economist Juliet Schor. Fascinating viewing, moreso that it was made 20 years ago.

  32. They can't but its all relative. Someone on BBC News last night was deploring how kids are getting anxious because they might not see their friends before they break for summer (mid July here in the UK) - they've only been off school two (or is three?) weeks!! When I was my sons school age we had power cuts, strikes, waste amassing in the streets, riots, IRA bombings, etc. When my dad was at school he was running to a bomb shelter most nights during 1941 and has rationing through to his mid-teens. As I said it's all relative and people need to focus on the big picture. A prolonged life is generally worth waiting for, even if it does carry an inconvenience by todays standards.

  33. What I don't get though, is that when the "China numbers are fake" was first floated as a theory....it was that they were INFLATED. It's a hoax...it will go to zero...not in this country, blah, blah, blah. Now, suddenly, its, "yep, the China numbers are fake"...but they UNDERSOLD the risk and the threat so how the heck could we have been prepared for this. I mean, come on, its one or the other...can't be BOTH.

  34. Agree with his point on the importance of Vit D up to a point. But vit D is just a factor to help increase your immunity. The more important aspect is modifying diets to increase overall health. This means exercise, good night sleep, and consuming less sugar and carbs overall.

  38. MSM do benefit from bad news, but they are mostly reactionary. ie. I do not think they are smart enough to coordinate morgues etc to report higher numbers. Plus in January most of them accused Trump a racist for limiting travel from/to China etc. I just do not see the conspiracy angle here

  40. Does it really matter if the CV came from a wet market or a wet lab in China? It's not like the world can hold the Chinese government liable....barely accountable as it is. China has the world by the short and curlies because they manufacture almost everything...I definitely see lessons learned from all this leading to some future international trade trends that may not favor China...but practically speaking no one is going to sue the Chinese government and no one will be able to get a communist regime to be accountable in any real way.

  42. I would love to use AWS, we just did a major migration there for my job and love using it. It is just costly. To set it up there the way I would want to do it would easily be 2-3x the cost. There is no temporary link to give at the moment, all of the work is on my local development setup. I honestly can't give a date at the moment. I am working on it as much as I can. This global issue we are having has my normal job in overdrive. There just hasn't been much time during the week to do extensive work. Most of my time on the development has been on the weekends.
