  2. My buddy held a Lego build a castle challenge over the weekend through our FB family. We were encouraged to use whatever Lego we had "around" the house. Those without kids like me were encouraged to join as well. With most of my loose Lego in storage I decided to bust open a water damaged 10237 ToO. I made sure to say it was a set and not custom. Took me about 15 hrs I'd say. I liked the build and it looks awesome. Now to break it down I guess.

  3. That’s not bias, that’s reporting the best info available at the time. Tell me, is WHO still telling people that now? To quote Keynes, when the facts change I change my mind, what do you do?

That their funding is derived by member states in no way biases their mission or data. Please stop sowing distrust in institutions because of your personal beliefs.

  5. Little bit of a flex here. Our new brand of Hand and Power tools, Blue Ridge, is now available at Target. There have been 20V tools and 40V OPE tools on Amazon for a little bit now, but this is our company's first venture into non-powered hand tools; of which I was integral to the 8-month compressed launch timeline. https://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=blue+ridge+tools In store, you might see some discounted Stanley, B&D and others tools since we have the entire 4 to 8ft section. Many are not shipping any longer but may still be available in store. These tools are good for entry-level homeowners and people who need quality tools for common household tasks. They are not Dewalt or Milwaukee quality, but are aimed to meet he needs of the common Target customer. Anyways, wanted to share as I am excited to see our team's hard work come to fruition.

  8. I ordered 3-Layer mouth masks on ebay today to donate to local retirement homes. I know those aint ffp2 or 3 masks, but at least something, because those retirement homes are the first running out of protective gear. Maybe some of you think thats a good idea. Two weeks ago I contacted elderly neighbours of ours to go shopping and else, I think most of us can do something no matter where you live.

  9. iahawks550 posted the IHME link yesterday. It's nice to see that at least the variance bars have tightened with the most recent update. I still think this study is **** ****, though, and I say that as a professional in the medical industry and a data scientist. They post their data, but they don't describe the statistical methods they use to arrive at their conclusions, there is no evidence of peer review (the "pics, or it didn't happen" test in my world), and as best as I can tell the information used by those models does not include intervention events. With a proper description, I should be able to recreate their results, but there is not enough model description for me to do so in practice. In my state (MA) their models is not tracking the reported stats, nor being adapted to current conditions (again, as best as I can tell, because the model is opaque). For good hard data, I've found this site to be valuable: https://covidtracking.com/. The numbers I'm watching are confirmed case counts, hospitalizations, and deaths. Hospitalization/dealts are running ~10%/~1% of confirmed cases. If capacity (beds, ventilators, etc) is reached, then the death rate will go up. If capacity can expand, the rate will likely stay static. If the therapy trials prove to be effective, it will drop. The big question, that no one knows the answer to yet, is what is the rate of asymptomatic cases which require neither testing or hospitialization? In short, I suggest one treat these models with skepticism. I think they are useful for predicting peak activity, but not total numbers. Don't despair or be led into fear by academic click-bait. p.s. ICU cases in MA are running 20-25% of total hospitalizations [cite: from my employer's daily update]

  11. All these organizations/governments are made up of people and people aren't perfect. They are subject to mistakes and outside influence. I'm not saying that you shouldn't trust them but I wouldn't consider them infallible. It seems that some people place quite a but of trust/reliance in these organizations/governments to have our, the people's, best interests at heart. I don't.

  17. Back in January when I first heard about this, I made it a priority to stock up. The last time I walked into a Wal Mart or store of any kind, was about a month ago. Viruses have no boundaries, or expirations dates. There is no science that proves COVID-19 will go away when it gets warmer out. I’m a relatively healthy person, but I have asthma. I’m part of the 20%. Being able to breath is a luxury for me, and a luxury no one should ever take for granted. All it would take is me breathing in respiratory droplets of someone who has the virus, and there’s a good chance I’ll need one of those ventilators. I’m literally terrified to even go for a hike outside, because I’ve seen photos of what this virus does to a persons lungs. This is a terrible thing that is happening all over the world. No one wanted it, but it’s here. We’re all at war with an invisible enemy. Now that the enemy is here, we all need to step up, do are part, and unite as a whole world. The faster we do that, the faster we defeat it, and the faster we can all go back to our daily lives.

  18. Guys (and gals...) please take covid19 seriously. I understand that USA compared to UK / Europe /ROW has not yet conducted some measures which some would consider extreme ( I.e. mandatory lock downs, shutting down businesses etc) but things will go from bad to worse very soon due to the exponential effect of the virus. Please try to implement social distancing, washing hands etc. This is not scare mongering, I am not a doctor or medical person, but I think what some people are failing to understand is that once the hospitals get full of covid patients, they will refuse to treat other patients with non covid19 symptoms unless it is a emergency treatment. Already in europe, doctors are making choices to not treat over 60's / people with pre existing conditions and treating the younger patients due to them more likely to survive. It is true that statistically Covid19 may not be as fatal as previous flu's or diseases, but you need to throw the statistics out of the window once you realise that even a "healthy" person who could have survive covid19 previ6, may not survive now due to the hospitals running out of ICU beds for patients, running out of medical PPE, shortage of ventilators etc. It doesn't matter what the fatality rate if you cant treated.

  19. Some folks to educate themselves about the media CNN is pretty far left. If they go any further, they will be fully left. Factual reporting has been mixed. Some online talent is worse than others like Cooper. Not only does Cooper look like he's holding a fart 24x7, he's awful at reporting facts. https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/cnn/ Fox News is pretty much at the Right. Factual reporting has been mixed. https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/fox-news/ look for media sources that are least biased. https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/factcheck/ at the very least, go for a reputable paper / web site that might mean left or right but report facts (just sift through the author opinions in each article). Insert Washington Post here and similar here.

  22. I'm not talking about a tank or battle ship...it's the freakin Hospital SHip...unless there are massive gun turrets hiding under that large Building with the Red Cross on it. Stop playing Devil's advocate..if there are policies in place that keeps US from using its own Hospital ships, then the system is broken...not a good excuse Also if you're so into the timing...how about 2 weeks ago or even a week ago? or is a week a "reasonable amount of time" to mobilize an emergency vessel...because I still think that's way too long.

  23. This is another data point for tracking the spread and projection of COVID-19 across the country and within each individual state. This is a project by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, a research center attached to the University of Washington School of Medicine. I am not a medical professional nor am I a data scientist. However, these people are and they're modeling the various ranges based on what data has been available here in the US and in the world. It gives you an idea of the sense of scale, which makes for sobering read.

  24. Someone asked me for a deal on the 10247 Ferris Wheel and 10257 Carousel together on a local auction site. I gave him a deal at $318US each, and now he wants to buy all the stock I have of those sets (total 6 more) at the same price. Average buy-in was $148. Sure, maybe I could sell them all between now and Christmas for up to ~$370, but selling the lot of 8 at once for $2544 with no fees is pretty worthwhile in my books The same guy also interested in buying my 4 Brick Banks and a bunch of other sets... Fingers crossed!

  26. There are many experts in the world that don't work for WHO. It's not tough to do research to find that information. The WHO has flip-flopped in a one week period about the use of ibuprofen. It's dangerous when they use their status to disseminate information that hasn't been scientifically verified.

  27. good luck with that... https://twitter.com/WHO/status/1217043229427761152 I think one's trust in the WHO correlates with one's opinion on how likely it has been co-opted/corrupted by some member states such as the CCP.

  28. The WHO changed the nomenclature for viruses to not reflect on country of origin or stigmatize a group of people a few years ago that is why this is not known as the Wuhan virus or even worse the Chinesse virus. Ebola is named for the river where it was first found and MERS for the geographic location (middle eastern). HIV was initially called HTLV-III which became HIV (virus) which causes AIDS (Disease). This one went from Wuhan Virus to 2019 Novel Coronavirus to SARS-CoV-2 (SARS-CoV-1 causes SARS) which causes CoVid-19.

  29. It would have been nice for the author to explain to the reader that COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 are the same thing (disease and virus). I had to google SARS-CoV-2 just to make sure they weren't talking about two different pandemics. Then again, Yale probably assumes that dumb LEGO investors like me aren't their target audience

  30. What I've learnt in 6 weeks of quarantena in Italy (we're keeping social distance since 02.21 and we moved from northern Italy to a house in the countryside in Sicily): - change your way of life, also your way of thinking - a pizza tastes very different now, a Neapolitan pizza is a dream now - we have two Popes, it's the time to use both of them - Berlusconi is immortal, bunga bunga is the key - 50 x 41178 were not enough - my chickens are worthy, they give us eggs no matter of famine, pandemic et cetera - listen to Fauci, ok he's Sicilian blood but first of all he's a good and balanced scientist https://youtu.be/_dXygGFCplk

  31. Im making the trip today for my family. Mask on, no phone in store, sanitize before and after, remove clothes when home, wash eye glasses, might even shower right whrn im back. Cannot be too precautious when you dont fit the criteria for a test if youre sick and have a 5 and 3 year old. I'll still go outside though. We live in a more rural area of NC that at least has hiking trails and a creek to play in. I have to have time to be outside, so I feel for those who live in urban development condos and the like that are really being pushed to their psychological capacity.

  34. according to the recent Movie: Ford vs Ferrari (a decent car flick, imo) Ford plants put out 3 out of every 5 bombers US sent Europe to win WWII...say what you will; but Ford once represented the best of American ingenuity. Near where I live, Mare Island was a Naval ship yard that produced a new Naval vessel EVERY MONTH for the war in the Pacific. The US led the world through the Industrial Revolution with roots in Getting it done and getting it done fast.

  35. 1. Always do immediate payment required, especially on expensive set 2. I set the automatic case opening to the minimum days (4 IIRC, its been a while). My account automatically opens nonpaying bidder case with eBay when that limit is passed. Then I would need to wait 3 more days for the buyer to respond. So 7 days (at least) to get my fees back + clear the item for relisting. Thus point #1

First up: 10019 UCS Rebel Bloackade Runner, which was missing 0 pieces. We are a little over halfway finished. I did have to order a replacement sticker sheet, which is en route.
