Honestly, I feel like it's a lose-lose situation. Right now, we're doing the "hindsight 20/20" where we see how we should have handled it, but if we took these measures a month ago, people would be screaming even more how much of an overreaction we're making, especially when it was zero-to-few confirmed cases in US at the time. Half the country will always be upset with choices made, one way or the other.9 points

Mods, Can we please move a lot of the politics and memes to a new thread? Say Moronavirus or like that. We clearly have a group within this thread that don't believe in the coronavirus, let rhem.move to that thread..this will.keep a lot of the politics our of it. This will filter the garbage, early on in the thread it was productive. We can agree to disagree but cut all the bs out of the thread.8 points

what I do or do not post has nothing to do with the fact that you seem to have an unreasonable urge to share every dumb thing you find. good message boards get turned into garbage when people like you run amok. maybe be a little selective.7 points

I think everyone is strategically ignoring what they want to, to further their own arguments. Let me go find a link that bolster's my opinion, brb!.6 points

Everyone this thread was great for days, people sharing good information about what is going on in their area, affecting their lives, facts about the issue at large. Lets not let this get stupid. Yes some fun is good, but 90% of the last 30 posts are garbage.6 points

Two things that I have learned over the 4 years or so of this political divide are : A- you will not change anyone's mind over the internet and probably not even in person B-you don't have to lose your civility over this and if you take a step back you can make some great friendships with people who you dont see eye to eye with politically. At the end of the day , politicians make up and kiss on a daily basis while relationships can be ruined for ever. Uncle BA has spoken6 points

can you take this crap to reddit or some other garbage site & stop spamming this thread? If I wanted marginally amusing memes I'd ask my 12 year old to find some for me5 points

Wisconsin is on lock down mode. I’m all stocked up on bratwurst and cheese curds. [emoji1303] I’m looking forward to spending my Trump money on Lego. There should be some pretty good sales in the near future once this blows over.5 points

This certainly triggers me b/c you are so caught upon name calling you still fail to recognize he was over a month or two even, late, @NIevo. Jan. 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China.” As the coronavirus spread in China and the first US case was reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on January 21. Trump was asked during an interview with CNBC on January 22 if he had any worries about the situation escalating into a pandemic. He said he did not.Trump made this comment on the CNBC show “Squawk Box” during an interview with Joe Kernen at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. At the time, there were 500 cases reported in China and the first had just been recorded in the United States. Feb. 2: “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China. It’s going to be fine.” Trump made this comment on the Fox News program “Hannity.” A few days prior to this interview, the Trump administration suspended entry to the United States of only foreign nationals who had recently visited China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau). This is around the date (Feb 2nd) we should have and could have reacted. Exchange students, families, vacationers, business, etc. all had already traveled home, spreading the virus. I understand being patriotic and defending our president. This one is defenseless in the terms of humanity. Repeated lies that will eventually result in deaths is no president of mine. Unbelievable people stand up for someone who would in turn kick them to the curb in a second. I hate talking politics but unfortunately a crewed nepotist business person muscled his way into Politics (facts no name calling) and his decisions are effecting our lives more than ever. As recently as Mar7th, the POTUS was telling reporters he was 'not concerned' about Covid-19's spread b/c 'we've done a great job'. Instead of treating Covid-19 more seriously, he actually made it a point to down play it. This isn't a discussion or even an argument, these are actual events. His administration is clearly acting in a way that has slowed down our response, EXPONENTIALLY!3 points

That's great man, really happy for you, just don't forget you reached this greatness by f*cking the whole world up, putting yourself in the priority place & exploiting every weak country you could prey on 😉 congrats on that greatness, you can keep it, we don't want it. Stop acting like you guys built your empire, it was built at the expense of millions and today even billions of other people. So keep it cool with the patriotism or someone like me has to say a word or two about it.3 points

I believe the cancellation of March Madness let people know it was more serious than anything the government could say or do. Just so we use the right version of martial.2 points

Thats the bigger issue, people just leaving the areas on lockdown to get away, possibly without knowing their own personal situation.2 points

There is no teeth in any of this. Most of it is for the businesses to determine what is and isn't open.2 points

I just watched it again over the weekend and had the exact same thought. For a Star Wars movie under Lucas, I felt like some of the special effects were phoned in.2 points

Probably very easy to say from where you are sitting, the lack of empathy is oozing from your collective banter. Not sure about the EU, I dont think any of their leaders are spewing nonsense on twitter for the world to see. My logic is Nlevo is proud when POTUS closed the border and comparing the dates to EU as a "Who is right?'. Thats a child's argument and one should be left for the playground. Compared to me being ashamed of his timing when he knew about this as early as Jan21 and refused to mobilize. To stand by and be ok with our response as a nation is very dangerous and irresponsible. When people try to refute logic, deny facts or bend truths, an argument will arise 100% of the time.2 points

I’m curious to know, too. I rewatched RO the other day, and I find that I love that film. At the moment, it’s #4 behind the OT. I haven’t watched the PT in ages. I really need to again.2 points

I’m trying to follow your logic. So if the President was a month or two late, does that make the EU a month or two, plus 4 days late? Here’s where I think you are looking for conflict where none has to exist. I don’t see Nlevo denying the response time. Instead, I see the hypocrisy of EU countries saying one thing, and then backtracking days later. I see Nlevo calling that out. It feels like you’re the one getting caught up here. Ignoring that all governments didn’t react as quickly as we (in hindsight) would have liked them to act.2 points

a single button click. Someone else here said they do this every year -> Pro during the X-mas period, Personal the rest of the year. I'm not worried it is going to hurt me.2 points

It appears Atlanta ICU is almost at capacity. The southeast, while virtually doing no testing and no preventative measures, is going to see a large increase in hospitalizations. They may be about 1-2 weeks behind NYC. In Columbia, civil unrest has started. Easter timeline would be fantastic, but it isn't happening.2 points

I just did a quick google search of the history of your country and let's just say that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and leave it at that.2 points

Wow, wasn't aware he had done such things. I'm having a hard time coming up with a single policy of his I have a problem with as do many AMERICANS, which is why he will be re-elected. Now an elegant speaker he is not, but a master level troller he is🤣2 points

I combined the original thread with the new thread. I liked the original, and I like the final product. I know there's complaints about the differences, but I've always taken "Ideas" as just that - submissions shouldn't be finished products, but should be used as a springboard for LEGO to produce a real live LEGO set. I love that the original inspired the designers to come up with something really cool.2 points

In San Diego, California Highway Patrol is pulling people over. My wife is HR for a bakery (good provider) and she had multiple reports from employees today that they were pulled over and would be issued a $1000 fine if they don’t produce a letter stating they are traveling to/from work. Me, as a federal employee in an essential position, I just have to continue carrying my ID. The AG, Bill Barr, issued a memo the other day to all law enforcement agencies to allow essential federal employees to travel freely to/from work.1 point

This has nothing to do with who was President, he just happened to be in office. Its more about the absolutely ridiculous actions being taken about this illness compared to H1N1.1 point

The problem is we can help with stupid being President. When the President says something, unfortunately people are going to listen. If a public health official said that, they could and would be successfully sued by victims’ families. This is where we are, the US president cares more about his numbers than the well being of those who elected him, and Id wager anyone who does what he says is a supporter. The man is morally bankrupt and has profoundly dishonoured his office, even moreso than his usual daily dishonouring.1 point

I was being deliberately methodical, since this was the first time. I feel like I could knock it out in 20 minutes next time. I was surprised at how easy (and inexpensive) it was to deal with.1 point
