I wanted to create a new thread in order to give progress on my site updates. I want explain a bit on what happened and what I am doing. What happened with the site? Honestly nothing really exciting or dramatic, overall in the end, I did not want to support the host I was with for the past four years after not really offering too much help with managed servers. They would spend 30 seconds looking, say they can ping the server so its up and then just say, "hey not my problem". I was on aging hardware, paying the same amount of money, so I took the opportunity to move to a new host with better/faster hardware and a staff that does help to support you when run into an issue that you can't handle on your own. I have been doing this a long time and pretty good monitoring and handling 99% of what comes my way, but there are issues that you need the next level up to help figure out what to do. I wasn't getting anything like that, but paying for it. Not anymore. What my goal is... I know more than anyone that the site needed some TLC. It's been a while since I have done any drastic updates, the site looked tired and I know the site can be so much better than what it's current state was. LEGO investing has changed since Ed and I launched the site and it's time to remove the dead content and bring more of what people are looking for. Below is the short term list of items planned for updating. I have been working on the nightly, just like the early days and enjoying seeing parts of it coming to life. Fix the login. This has been messed up and quirky for a while. This has been resolved and working well. It's a simple thing overall, but nice that it actually works how it's supposed to Overall price guide site design update. The site was tired and disjointed. I hated it and pained me to look at it. Time to start over. Brickfolio update. All the Brickfolio data is safe. I have close to three million rows of data for Brickfolio entries. Time to bring this thing to 2020. I will probably create another thread at some point to solicit some feedback on some new requests for the brickfolio Fix the data syncing with Brickset. A lot of people used this feature, but it's time to make it work the way it should. Later I will work on the content portions. The news and blogs. I have some good ideas for this, but want to get the price guide and brickfolio to you sooner than later. What I am asking for if possible... If you can, please stop asking where the brickfolio is. Again, the data is safe and I am working as fast as I can to bring it all back to you. It won't be a few days, but more like a few weeks, but it will be worth it. I setup my dev environment to push releases quick and easy. I want to create a true changelog so that you can follow updates to see what was done/fixed/new/removed, you know like what real software companies do. I really do appreciate your patience with this. It wasn't planned, but if there was going to be a time to do it, it was going to be now.2 points

Politicians/media need to chill on Plaquenil and be more responsible with their reporting . The only person with dignity at the moment on tv is Dr. Fauci... I am unable to order it for existing patients for conditions that have nothing to do with Corona ..2 points

The reagents contain trace amount of the virus, either it be live or treated. That would be highly prohibited in the country by USDA & FDA guidelines. A similar example would be the test kit for Mad cow disease or BSE-scrapie. That test kit needs to be finalized in the UK because we the US have strict policies(forbidden!)when it comes to handling live virus’ (prions in the case of BSE) required to manufacture the critical reagents. You both touched on the point of outsourcing. Most people assume it’s because of cheap labor. Labor would only be one obvious example however, the reasons maybe underlying rather than direct. Most countries do not operate under the same umberella of strict guidelines our private sector is forced to adhere to, especially companies that fall under the USDA or FDA. Most company’s bring that part of their product development to a subsidiary or purchased entity outside the US to a country where there is less guidelines to follow to conclude a specific part of product validation or launch. This cuts down on the amount of hurdles to jump, ie. federal requirements, safety protocols just to mention a few of the thousands that exist. What we DONT need are existing Pills(chloroquine) that only dampen the symptoms and line the pockets of Pharma. What we NEED is to loosen the restrictions on the development of plasma treatments and work on optimizing the system, which I think $20Joe mentioned. This has the bigggest potential impact on the entire global community, not to mention our current scenario. Yet, the economics are unknown so most investors are more comfortable with the knowns. That’s reality. Here is a pretty decent read from a fellow who helped eradicate Small Pox. He has a very interesting perspective since this has all started. Great last name too, should work for Guinness! https://www.wired.com/story/coronavirus-interview-larry-brilliant-smallpox-epidemiologist/ ps. I do apologize to those here for cheap laughs, just trying to keep this thread informative to fellow BP’rs since there is a lot of misinformation and ignorant people out there. It is a serious time tho most would not like to admit it. if that’s what your looking for this thread maybe more appropriate.2 points

Sorry, it's been over a decade since I was last in Italy, but... what now? That was not my experience. All jokes and speculation aside, I'm steeling myself to hunker down for weeks-months. My dad has heart disease and diabetes and I'd like him to live past 70, heck, I don't want to get this thing. A bit of irony for me is my wife is on sabbatical this semester, so we've basically already just been home together with our kid since December, and now we don't get playgrounds or church! At least she doesn't have to shift her college classes to online like her colleagues. Hang in there, everyone, it's a long road.2 points

Finished this tonight. Life at home with two kids and still took me three seatings to complete a 275 pcs set. Pathetic. Anyway I enjoyed the build and the result looks real good for a small set. Proportions are much better than the six stud wide SC from before. However I did discover that this F8 is for bald guys only. The hood won’t close all the way with helmet or hair piece on.2 points

This feels so real. I feel like I'm dating my high school girlfriend again. Seriously though, as an introvert I feel no struggles with this at all. I'm sure many here can relate to this.1 point

I get the idea of social distancing. It’s something I’ve practiced my whole life. The problem is, that we need someone who will literally shut down the whole USA for 2 weeks or more, instead of leaving it up to each state. It’s wasting too much time. That is the only way we will ever get past this. There are so many unoccupied college dorms right now. Turn those into hospital rooms.1 point

Pre-existing as far as I've always understood is just a health condition you already had when the new issue whatever it might be comes up. If you look at Health Care Plans a pre-existing condition is something you had before the plan starts, doesn't mean you don't still have it.1 point

So basically you were just rambling and stating no actual fact other then just personal feelings about a country and people you seem to know little about???? Got it😆1 point

Not really. You don't have to be driving, drinking or smoking to be affected by those that do. Auto accidents could be just as close to a 1:1 equation unless you live somewhere that has to cars. How many pedestrians get killed a year without being calculated into the TRIP category? Yeah, just go ahead and stay in Canada cause you are clueless. If someone want's to have a gun debate I'm your Huckleberry, but some intelligence is required. Helps if your from this country to actually know what its like other then what CNN and the Lib's want you to believe. Lol....not staying in our home!!!!!1 point

We are in unprecedented times. Best to be prepared. The Fed Govt may require Amazon to use its distribution infrastructure to supply items of necessity. Postal services may get shutdown to the general public and only used to distribute items of necessity. One week ago what is happening today would have been unthinkable. Prepare as best you can, stay safe, and please prepare for the fact that the way business was conducted a week ago may not be the way going forward.1 point
