  1. Just a little something to lighten the mood. Truth.

  2. I'm not sure the previous poster called Covid-19 the flu, but that aside...... The spread of the virus is inevitable. So, worry about it if you want, but why? I would be much more worried about the financial situation in this country and world than a virus that amounts to a minor cold for most.

  5. My issue is the stupidity and selfishness of people. If you traveled outside of the country into China or Italy or another hotspot, people should know that they have to be tested or notify local authorities. I hear some people in quarantine are going to public events. Really, just selfish assholes.

  8. 41627 Luke and Yoda has really taken off since Christmas. These were selling for low $30s in December and are now up into the low $50s. Glad I stocked up on these when they $13 each on Lego last year. Probably got a bump from the Mandalorian.

  9. The current age designation of the greatest skill level required is 16+. These new Star Wars bust sets do require an additional 2 years of training in the Lego arts in order to master the build.

  11. I wanted to create a new thread in order to give progress on my site updates. I want explain a bit on what happened and what I am doing. What happened with the site? Honestly nothing really exciting or dramatic, overall in the end, I did not want to support the host I was with for the past four years after not really offering too much help with managed servers. They would spend 30 seconds looking, say they can ping the server so its up and then just say, "hey not my problem". I was on aging hardware, paying the same amount of money, so I took the opportunity to move to a new host with better/faster hardware and a staff that does help to support you when run into an issue that you can't handle on your own. I have been doing this a long time and pretty good monitoring and handling 99% of what comes my way, but there are issues that you need the next level up to help figure out what to do. I wasn't getting anything like that, but paying for it. Not anymore. What my goal is... I know more than anyone that the site needed some TLC. It's been a while since I have done any drastic updates, the site looked tired and I know the site can be so much better than what it's current state was. LEGO investing has changed since Ed and I launched the site and it's time to remove the dead content and bring more of what people are looking for. Below is the short term list of items planned for updating. I have been working on the nightly, just like the early days and enjoying seeing parts of it coming to life. Fix the login. This has been messed up and quirky for a while. This has been resolved and working well. It's a simple thing overall, but nice that it actually works how it's supposed to Overall price guide site design update. The site was tired and disjointed. I hated it and pained me to look at it. Time to start over. Brickfolio update. All the Brickfolio data is safe. I have close to three million rows of data for Brickfolio entries. Time to bring this thing to 2020. I will probably create another thread at some point to solicit some feedback on some new requests for the brickfolio Fix the data syncing with Brickset. A lot of people used this feature, but it's time to make it work the way it should. Later I will work on the content portions. The news and blogs. I have some good ideas for this, but want to get the price guide and brickfolio to you sooner than later. What I am asking for if possible... If you can, please stop asking where the brickfolio is. Again, the data is safe and I am working as fast as I can to bring it all back to you. It won't be a few days, but more like a few weeks, but it will be worth it. I setup my dev environment to push releases quick and easy. I want to create a true changelog so that you can follow updates to see what was done/fixed/new/removed, you know like what real software companies do. I really do appreciate your patience with this. It wasn't planned, but if there was going to be a time to do it, it was going to be now.

  12. I just found this in the wild, and it's a heck of a pile of bricks for 35 bucks. not sure it's an arm sweep unless you find additional discount, but great for personal use.

  13. Interesting/relevant thread here: https://twitter.com/CT_Bergstrom/status/1235865328074153986 Historical (Spanish Flu 1918) test case described here: https://microbialmenagerie.com/social-distancing-1918-influenza-coronavirus-covid-19/ (and this is why I'll be working from home all week... thankfully, I have that luxury.) Yes, I don't want to get sick, but staying healthy also helps my co-workers by relieving strain on the system.

  15. I think people need to focus on protecting the older and ill. We all have them in our families and some of the spin of this virus just blows off the older people like it's OK. Not cool.

  16. I enjoy the "self-quarantine" verbiage. In other words, don't be an inconsiderate jerk, but if you are, nothing can be done about it. ie: St Louis dad

  17. when I looked into gold investing (about a year ago) it looked like there's a significant transaction cost (either buying or selling)..I think 5-7%+...almost like real estate in that when the selling is good...lots of obstacles Probably will work better than a N95

  19. Sure it does. It really sucks. Trillions were lost in the past few weeks. But it has happened before and will happen again. People should not have the majority of their retirement savings in the stock market. Period. It will bounce back though. It always does. Everyone is so hyper focused on the stock market and I get it., nobody likes to lose money. Some people are making money off of fear, and those are the loudest voices on the internet. Let's see what happens in a few months. I heard this morning that Chinese factories were back up to 50-75% capacity, which is way better than 30-40% from a month ago. So the supply chain problem will correct itself. I really don't want to make this political, but at the end of the day, it is. It is a serious issue, but there are very few people out there telling the truth. It's all spin. One side says it's no big deal and the other side says it's the end of the world. The truth is somewhere in between. It will get worse over the next few weeks as more tests go out. This is certain. But once people realize there are already thousands of infected people in the US and they are not dropping dead or in hospitals, things will start to calm down. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. By the way...Staples has plenty of toilet paper.

  20. Noone who is 70 and retired should have their money sitting where it takes a large tumble like the last week and today. That's Retirement 101.

  21. If you are 70 years old and have your money in the stock market, that's on you. I have heard this story dozens of time in my 50 plus years every time there is a market decline.

  24. I think the Oil war was the straw that broke the camel's back ...it's recession We've all been on this ride before...eventually unemployment will spike and folks will "really" start to worry. I'm curious to see how the "Gig Economy" will evolve in a recession and how the Social warefare programs (social security and unemployment) deal with it.

  25. Built the Fiat 500 and it was actually a decent build. It is somewhat small but after looking at pictures of the real thing it is also very small. One build technique I found interesting was the use of the technic arms that have minifigure hands on them as a way to secure the bottom of the seats to the chassis, I didn't expect that. The light yellow color is beautiful, very pleasing to the eyes I love it. Might get another set just for the pieces. One complaint I have has nothing to do with the vehicle itself, but the easel, it's very unsteady and insecure. There is no side horizontal brace. So it doesn't take much of a touch to begin to split the legs and the painting falls off. I know that's not the focus of this set but a single 1x4 plate or something could have helped to 'fix' the legs into position. It seems like a cheap addition to the set. If it was going to be built so poorly then give us a printed painting not a sticker. I may end up disassembling the easel and absorbing the pieces into my collection. Otherwise, a nice build and helped contribute to my free 40th train promo.

  27. Called Lego customer service about a package that may have been damaged and on its way back. In it is a train GWP, so i asked if order could be reshipped as to not miss out on the gift. Understandably i was told its still in time window and to wait until 10th to recontact if status the same. interesting info to me was that was told there was a lot of GWP left and will be no problem having some left next week. Not sure what level of info CS really has about those things but just sharing the news I got.
