I wanted to create a new thread in order to give progress on my site updates. I want explain a bit on what happened and what I am doing. What happened with the site? Honestly nothing really exciting or dramatic, overall in the end, I did not want to support the host I was with for the past four years after not really offering too much help with managed servers. They would spend 30 seconds looking, say they can ping the server so its up and then just say, "hey not my problem". I was on aging hardware, paying the same amount of money, so I took the opportunity to move to a new host with better/faster hardware and a staff that does help to support you when run into an issue that you can't handle on your own. I have been doing this a long time and pretty good monitoring and handling 99% of what comes my way, but there are issues that you need the next level up to help figure out what to do. I wasn't getting anything like that, but paying for it. Not anymore. What my goal is... I know more than anyone that the site needed some TLC. It's been a while since I have done any drastic updates, the site looked tired and I know the site can be so much better than what it's current state was. LEGO investing has changed since Ed and I launched the site and it's time to remove the dead content and bring more of what people are looking for. Below is the short term list of items planned for updating. I have been working on the nightly, just like the early days and enjoying seeing parts of it coming to life. Fix the login. This has been messed up and quirky for a while. This has been resolved and working well. It's a simple thing overall, but nice that it actually works how it's supposed to Overall price guide site design update. The site was tired and disjointed. I hated it and pained me to look at it. Time to start over. Brickfolio update. All the Brickfolio data is safe. I have close to three million rows of data for Brickfolio entries. Time to bring this thing to 2020. I will probably create another thread at some point to solicit some feedback on some new requests for the brickfolio Fix the data syncing with Brickset. A lot of people used this feature, but it's time to make it work the way it should. Later I will work on the content portions. The news and blogs. I have some good ideas for this, but want to get the price guide and brickfolio to you sooner than later. What I am asking for if possible... If you can, please stop asking where the brickfolio is. Again, the data is safe and I am working as fast as I can to bring it all back to you. It won't be a few days, but more like a few weeks, but it will be worth it. I setup my dev environment to push releases quick and easy. I want to create a true changelog so that you can follow updates to see what was done/fixed/new/removed, you know like what real software companies do. I really do appreciate your patience with this. It wasn't planned, but if there was going to be a time to do it, it was going to be now.5 points

I walked over to Michaels. Online, it said all the Dots stuff was in stock. Turns out, it hadn't been set out yet, but they were willing to grab me two packets of spare Dots from the back. In each pack, I got 20 pink 1/4 tiles, 21 magenta, 21 lime, 21 teal, 21 sparkle blue circles, and 11 printed circles. I wonder why no love for the pink - no spares. Here's a photo of the distribution, and a photo of my first little doodle of making a pattern. The color is off in the photo - the magenta looks like dark red. I'm not fond of the crying faces or the rainbow poop, so if anyone wants to trade, let me know.3 points

The fear mongering on every single news outlet is pretty pathetic.3 points

No one “needs” any of these items. Hand sanitizer is ineffective along with wipes compared to soap and hand washing which is readily available. If one has an interest in making their own hand sanitizer they can easily do so with a bottle of aloe Vera and rubbing alcoholic. These are luxury items that provide consumers with a salve against reality. We’re going to likely see further supply chain disruptions and hoarding soon. A lack of artificial ingredients like fake sweetener is going to impact the supply of diet soda. That’s going to drive up the price once supply drops. This is simply supply and demand economics and Amazon and eBay don’t want the bad publicity that strays outside of their own market manipulation.3 points

How did Not Tabby turn this into the new cryptocurrency thread? We just recently came back from Universal Orlando/Disney. Parks still full. No one consciously keeping a safe distance in lines. Instead of focusing on sick people, my kids were more observant of the alarmingly high number of patrons with face tattoos. It was a real cultural eye opener.2 points

from doing this so long and going through stuff like 9/11 back in the sports card days higher end collectibles will hold up fine. The mid level stuff does tend to suffer. Stuff at bargains if you can offer it will spike in sales. Did have 2 of my worst days ever recently when all the news broke about it being in the US. So scare tactics will always slow down sales of non necessity items but they usually rebound few days later.2 points

Yep, so after looking, all of my N95 mask auctions were removed. None of them had any of the key phases Ebay said that they were looking for in them... meanwhile there are still 20k other listings for N95 masks up.... And just in case any of you felt like climbing your high horse... I bought two cases of these 2 years ago at a hospital liquidation auction for $10... I do a lot of woodworking, and as I believe someone else had mentioned on here they are great for keeping saw dust out of your lungs. I still had 1 full case left and was selling the boxes of 20. So no, I did not further dwindle current supply for a profit.2 points

may be just my region, but there were a boatload of the last small ones (Mustang, Scudadera (sp?), etc etc); the only one I would even consider for investment would be the F40. I personally like the wider dimension look and the subject matter were all great; but really no clue on how it will do...some purist don't seem to like that the larger scale does not fit Modular building and City scale.1 point

I was reading The LEGO Group's annual financial report yesterday and I bet they are not happy about their exposure in China. https://www.lego.com/en-gb/aboutus/news/2020/march/annual-results1 point

Thanks! Last I looked, a few days ago, Michael's didn't list anything. I can actually walk to a Michael's from my office, and they have the dots pack in stock!1 point

Important notice regarding price gouging Mar 5, 2020 As you are aware, we are experiencing a global health crisis due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus. With increasing customer demand for critical safety products, we have seen examples of egregious pricing from third party sellers in our store. Price gouging is a clear violation of our policies, unethical, and in some cases, illegal. As a result, we are suspending selling accounts and removing all listings for sellers who engage in price gouging in violation of the Amazon Marketplace Fair Pricing Policy. We encourage you to audit your prices to avoid this problem.1 point

To me it felt like the twist was added deliberately to save the superman team. I mean, normal build time is 14hrs, and they got that many hours to do the city build. There must have been a protest or a general feeling of "it wasnt their fault" that caused the producers to add on an additional 4hrs for the twist. The twist concept felt like a repeat from the previous week. Also, what happened to the golden brick? Why was that a one-time gimmick that only benefited that one team?1 point

Ninjago Docks will be the winner here. Everyone who buys your "overhoarded waste of storage space" will eventually want one.1 point

Just a reminder for (newer) sellers with Amazon seller accounts: DO NOT RISK your Amazon accounts by doing something like this. Once banned, it is very hard to get unbanned or even open a new one.1 point

when I think of it.. it might be quite a nice new feature of this portal.. as bricklink records sets dimensions, weight etc.. why not have here a dbase of factory packagings? It would require just a very simply form and everyone from his / her territory could contribute with the values.. given that there are less than 30 different box sizes, even if that particular set packaging is still not in the dbase, the system could suggest that this set has the same dimensions as XX and that was previously distribued by 4 /6 per box.1 point

Well, technically they weren't wrong. I mean, it will retire at some point, right? Right...? Guys...it will eventually retire, right?1 point

Keep playing it down, Mr. Tough. Doesn't matter if this fear is "pathetic" or justified. Fear is fear. And fear can lead to a serious "everything-goes-downhill"-scenario. You can be relaxed, but the other 97% isnt, your toughness won't help. This strategy works if the majority feels the same way. But we're just a small fraction. I'm more worried about all the fear leading to a major crash, not scared of the virus itself.0 points
