I wanted to create a new thread in order to give progress on my site updates. I want explain a bit on what happened and what I am doing. What happened with the site? Honestly nothing really exciting or dramatic, overall in the end, I did not want to support the host I was with for the past four years after not really offering too much help with managed servers. They would spend 30 seconds looking, say they can ping the server so its up and then just say, "hey not my problem". I was on aging hardware, paying the same amount of money, so I took the opportunity to move to a new host with better/faster hardware and a staff that does help to support you when run into an issue that you can't handle on your own. I have been doing this a long time and pretty good monitoring and handling 99% of what comes my way, but there are issues that you need the next level up to help figure out what to do. I wasn't getting anything like that, but paying for it. Not anymore. What my goal is... I know more than anyone that the site needed some TLC. It's been a while since I have done any drastic updates, the site looked tired and I know the site can be so much better than what it's current state was. LEGO investing has changed since Ed and I launched the site and it's time to remove the dead content and bring more of what people are looking for. Below is the short term list of items planned for updating. I have been working on the nightly, just like the early days and enjoying seeing parts of it coming to life. Fix the login. This has been messed up and quirky for a while. This has been resolved and working well. It's a simple thing overall, but nice that it actually works how it's supposed to Overall price guide site design update. The site was tired and disjointed. I hated it and pained me to look at it. Time to start over. Brickfolio update. All the Brickfolio data is safe. I have close to three million rows of data for Brickfolio entries. Time to bring this thing to 2020. I will probably create another thread at some point to solicit some feedback on some new requests for the brickfolio Fix the data syncing with Brickset. A lot of people used this feature, but it's time to make it work the way it should. Later I will work on the content portions. The news and blogs. I have some good ideas for this, but want to get the price guide and brickfolio to you sooner than later. What I am asking for if possible... If you can, please stop asking where the brickfolio is. Again, the data is safe and I am working as fast as I can to bring it all back to you. It won't be a few days, but more like a few weeks, but it will be worth it. I setup my dev environment to push releases quick and easy. I want to create a true changelog so that you can follow updates to see what was done/fixed/new/removed, you know like what real software companies do. I really do appreciate your patience with this. It wasn't planned, but if there was going to be a time to do it, it was going to be now.2 points

If I recall correctly, initial copies of Steamboat Willie set had the wrong Ideas number on the box. I’m not sure if these sets go for much more than the corrected version? But it might be a starting point for deciding if this set is any more valuable with a misprint.2 points

I think this article has a good point: https://slate.com/technology/2020/03/coronavirus-mortality-rate-lower-than-we-think.html But the most straightforward and compelling evidence that the true case fatality rate of SARS-CoV-2 is well under 1 percent comes not from statistical trends and methodological massage, but from data from the Diamond Princess cruise outbreak and subsequent quarantine off the coast of Japan. <.....> This is where the Diamond Princess data provides important insight. Of the 3,711 people on board, at least 705 have tested positive for the virus (which, considering the confines, conditions, and how contagious this virus appears to be, is surprisingly low). Of those, more than half are asymptomatic, while very few asymptomatic people were detected in China. This alone suggests a halving of the virus’s true fatality rate. On the Diamond Princess, six deaths have occurred among the passengers, constituting a case fatality rate of 0.85 percent. Unlike the data from China and elsewhere, where sorting out why a patient died is extremely difficult, we can assume that these are excess fatalities—they wouldn’t have occurred but for SARS-CoV-2. The most important insight is that all six fatalities occurred in patients who are more than 70 years old. Not a single Diamond Princess patient under age 70 has died. If the numbers from reports out of China had held, the expected number of deaths in those under 70 should have been around four.2 points

and this is how most of the panic spreads.. it reads quite easily within the article that at this moment its not sure whether he got sick in the line of his profession or due to the spread within the community.2 points

I’d love to see the competitors revolt and see what Jamie and Amy could do in 10-14 hours. They both roast everything (Jamie more than Amy but still) and I’d love to see what they themselves would come up with in a time crunch1 point

I usually watch the show twice, my wife and I watch it together when it airs, and then my daughter and I (and maybe wife joins again) watch it the day after on Hulu since the show airs later than our established bedtime for my daughter. I was imagining either of the brickmasters being my boss, and I think I could manage Jamie being my boss but something about Amy rubs me the wrong way. She'd be fun to hang out with and build with at a friend-level but being dependent upon her feedback of my performance... not sure. If you watch the very first episode again there are clues as to future episodes/challenges. They showed a bit of the slot car race which looks pretty fun with all the considerations, what wheel/axle combo to use, what tires, what weight... I'm sure there's a "look and feel" aspect to the challenge, too, above just the winner of the race. There also looks to be a cool Star Wars-related episode coming with C-3PO as a guest.1 point

To me it felt like the twist was added deliberately to save the superman team. I mean, normal build time is 14hrs, and they got that many hours to do the city build. There must have been a protest or a general feeling of "it wasnt their fault" that caused the producers to add on an additional 4hrs for the twist. The twist concept felt like a repeat from the previous week. Also, what happened to the golden brick? Why was that a one-time gimmick that only benefited that one team?1 point

All I am saying is that it is a positive, nothing else. I think people are getting a better handle on the situation and concentrating on older and compromised individuals. We all have older people in our lives and it matters, believe me. Clean your hands. Avoid large crowds. And for God's sake, stay off the damn cruise ships!1 point

Just a reminder for (newer) sellers with Amazon seller accounts: DO NOT RISK your Amazon accounts by doing something like this. Once banned, it is very hard to get unbanned or even open a new one.1 point

I think the vietnamese government is really well dealing with the outbreak by informing their people that they have to wash the hands regurlarly and maintain personal hygiene. And they did it by a song. Thats exactly the way you reach people and prevent mass hysteria. Officials here in Germany state that sanitizers wont help more than washing your hand regurlarly and thoroughly. It also cuts the supply for people that really need those, like hospitals and so on.(Because there are still those other deseases and accidents and so on. And btw using sanitizers on a regurlar basis also really damages your skin for a long time. My wife and I had to use them while our son was in hospital for 5 weeks, and since then both our hands are really messed up. And that was 3 Years ago. So please remember this when using those sanitizers. Here in Germany the desease also spreads thanks to people that are thoughtless/careless and cannot follow basic rules like: Wash hands, dont sneeze in other faces, go to the doctors if you show signs of it. Ahhh and: dont touch your face (Human touches his face over 200 times a day and thats a good way for a Virus to get into your System) So stay calm and follow basic rules.1 point

Yeah, we've had that conversation on this website before. Fleer and Donrus cards in the 1980s were a joke. They were filled with errors. However, the fact that LEGO corrected the error so quickly says something. If it were me, I'd hold onto it. It's one of those thing that may or not be a winner. It's a toy though, so most people probably opened the box and tossed it, never realizing the error.1 point

cmon, just because our designated health minister has the opinion that it is going to be an epidemic, its not sure that its going to happen. sure it can, but I suppose you are just reading too much into the media, which is pushing the fear at the moment. With prepping on the other hand I suppose you are right, it will be hard to get some pasta here 😷1 point
