I wanted to create a new thread in order to give progress on my site updates. I want explain a bit on what happened and what I am doing. What happened with the site? Honestly nothing really exciting or dramatic, overall in the end, I did not want to support the host I was with for the past four years after not really offering too much help with managed servers. They would spend 30 seconds looking, say they can ping the server so its up and then just say, "hey not my problem". I was on aging hardware, paying the same amount of money, so I took the opportunity to move to a new host with better/faster hardware and a staff that does help to support you when run into an issue that you can't handle on your own. I have been doing this a long time and pretty good monitoring and handling 99% of what comes my way, but there are issues that you need the next level up to help figure out what to do. I wasn't getting anything like that, but paying for it. Not anymore. What my goal is... I know more than anyone that the site needed some TLC. It's been a while since I have done any drastic updates, the site looked tired and I know the site can be so much better than what it's current state was. LEGO investing has changed since Ed and I launched the site and it's time to remove the dead content and bring more of what people are looking for. Below is the short term list of items planned for updating. I have been working on the nightly, just like the early days and enjoying seeing parts of it coming to life. Fix the login. This has been messed up and quirky for a while. This has been resolved and working well. It's a simple thing overall, but nice that it actually works how it's supposed to Overall price guide site design update. The site was tired and disjointed. I hated it and pained me to look at it. Time to start over. Brickfolio update. All the Brickfolio data is safe. I have close to three million rows of data for Brickfolio entries. Time to bring this thing to 2020. I will probably create another thread at some point to solicit some feedback on some new requests for the brickfolio Fix the data syncing with Brickset. A lot of people used this feature, but it's time to make it work the way it should. Later I will work on the content portions. The news and blogs. I have some good ideas for this, but want to get the price guide and brickfolio to you sooner than later. What I am asking for if possible... If you can, please stop asking where the brickfolio is. Again, the data is safe and I am working as fast as I can to bring it all back to you. It won't be a few days, but more like a few weeks, but it will be worth it. I setup my dev environment to push releases quick and easy. I want to create a true changelog so that you can follow updates to see what was done/fixed/new/removed, you know like what real software companies do. I really do appreciate your patience with this. It wasn't planned, but if there was going to be a time to do it, it was going to be now.10 points

hi, my wife (like the vast majority of docs) don't mention hand gel sanitizer's because they are mainly a marketing gimmick. alcohol based gels like Purell are nice but should be used as a back-up option when proper anti-bacteria soap isn't around. hospitals & clinics put them everywhere because having hallway washing stations every 25' feet (or so) is expensive, a plumbing nightmare, & lawyers' dream (slipping from water & soap on the floor). think about it, when a surgeon or specialist doing a scope / biopsy & their staff get ready, do they scrub their hands with soap or Purell? at the end of the day, people need to stop touching & picking things and wash their hands multiple times per day. --------------------- ---------------------5 points

My wife talked with other docs in her hospital today. This info was shared among hospitals & online. They all agree with the advice. Corona Virus facts 1. Spread by droplets. Not airborne. So the air on an airplane is fine. Touching an object then touching your mouth, eyes, or nose is how it’s spread. Using a mask is basically to remind you not to touch your face. WASH hands OFTEN. Try not to pick your nose. N95 masks aren’t needed. 2. Update: Virus can live on objects (doorknobs, hand rails, toilet flusher, etc.) for a few hours to several days (possibly 9 days). Less in warmer, dry air, longest on glass, shortest on paper. Packages from China are considered safe. *** note: this is huge for people like us who get stuff shipped directly from Asia. I’m going to leave boxes even from Amazon Japan in trash bags for 2 weeks just-case as boxes are routinely opened for inspection. *** 3. Incubation is 2-14 days. Our hospital is taking extra precautions for patients with fever and cough who have traveled within 14 days to China, Italy, Japan, Iran, and South Korea. 4. Interesting map with exposures by country https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6 5. More travel info https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html 6. This season, in the US, there have been 16,000 deaths from the flu. See info graphic in comments. It’s not too late get your flu shot!5 points

This all ignores the fact that due to lack of testing kits and prioritization calls, and due to the fact that many people will not have major symptoms while infected, the percentages are way off. Yes 5 dead out of 9, but who says there aren't 1000+ people walking around in WA with this virus who don't even get tested?3 points

Gio. Jeff and Ed have said many times that they are fixing the site and making improvements to it as well. This is a free site so you just need to sit tight and be patient as they have requested we all do. I do not work for Brickpicker. I'm just forwarding info to you that they have told others. They say the brickfolios are saved and will be back and intact.3 points

I agree with the red zones, but according to that picture you need to wash your forearms too (orange area). I do not know if that is necessary This picture from WHO is more useful (https://www.who.int/gpsc/clean_hands_protection/en/😞2 points

Tapatalk is just too clunky for me and doesn't organize the new topics in the same manner as the mobile browser version.2 points

Jeff is working on it along with many other things. I think some folks need to remember, our owners & mods have lives outside of brickpicker. we have spouses, kids , regular jobs, houses, etc... this is also a free web site, so jeff and ed don't have hired workers "standing ready to go" to work on items when they can't. That's why folks should use the brickfolio export feature often. The good news is that no data is lost. It's all there. Just give Jeff as much time as he needs.2 points

I'm always surprised at how much GWP can sell for. Why would someone pay $50 when for $100, they can get it plus $100 worth of Lego? Do they really not have the extra $50?2 points

Sorry, I really wasn't sure what you were referring to. This virus sucks, any way you put it. My parents are prime candidates for this virus. We will have to go buy food for them if it hits NJ hard.1 point

Turkish households always have a boatload of Kolonya at home so I'm good. I'd recommend it, if you can get it, no idea if it's sold in the US. Basically a 90% alcohol sanitizer, just smells a hundred times better.1 point

The jokes on this thread are meant to bring a little levity to a serious situation. Nothing more. No doubt there has been some serious lapses with handing of possibly infected people and red tape that needs to be worked out. It seems that everything just takes a lot of time to implement, from the funding to implementation of procedures. I have dozens of friends that are in the law enforcement business, from FBI agents to US Marshalls to local police and none of them seem concerned of a major issue right now. So either they are woefully unprepared or know something that I don't. The next month or so will tell a lot.1 point

I don't want this to end up as a political piece. It is an unfortunate situation that is not the fault of any president or politician. This will be dealt with by regular Americans and people from around the world. Regardless of your political affiliation, I think the president handled himself much better with today's press conference and focused more on the virus than the stock market and himself. He has some quality people working with him that are experienced in dealing with situations like this. People need to stop the political rhetoric and work together. Period.1 point

the main number that is being underestimated is actual number of asymptomatic infected people which is likely 10 or 100x times the actual known number of infections which would cut the fatality rate from 2% to 0.2%. when nearly 30K Americans are already dying from influenza this season which is off the charts and people are debating about whether to even get vaccinated against that, overly worrying about corona other than basic sanitary precautions seems premature. we already have a serious epidemic with second highest pediatric death rate from flu on record in US but no one is talking about.1 point

I have to weigh in here, we found Universal far more filthy than Disney. By the end of the days we were there, the bathrooms were completely trashed and some of us got food poisoning from eating in the Harry Potter area. The bathrooms in Disney stayed clean all day.0 points
