  2. Saw this over on Brickset this morning. Apparently the boxes are empty and are to gauge interest. It's interesting watching Lego these days, especially after buying BrickLink and wanting to better understand what the end-user wants. Their research must be taking them to other aftermarket-type products such as lighting kits. If they can be cost-competitive I see lighting kits making sense. If I can get an equivalent kit for less elsewhere, I'm not sure I would buy the Lego brand store. Essentially, someone else got to lighting kits first, Lego, how are you going to differentiate to make me want to buy it from you? I suppose if do end up pursuing this direction, it would bring lighting functionality much earlier into the design phase so that lighting kits are available at the same time as the release of a set, getting them to market faster than the aftermarket producers of lighting kits. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. https://brickset.com/article/48887/lighting-kit-boxes-on-display-in-copenhagen

  5. None that I can recall. To be honest, many of these Ideas "losers" are way better than the sets designed by The LEGO Group's paid employees.

  6. Yes what Ed said is right. I am working on it and I am taking the time to address the issues it's been having as well. I will get the Brickfolio back to everyone as soon as I can, but as I just said, i am taking the time to FIX it as well.

  9. I don't think he could be a set designer for Lego as that would make him an ineligible participant for the show. It looks like (based on his website) he was the designer of "Stitch" (from Lilo and Stitch) that was on Lego Ideas. He also does do commissioned work, so he's good enough to get paid for it. https://www.tylerclites.com/

  10. The Newlyweds' (Tyler and Amy) - I was also very impressed with their green alien, not just the build itself but their forethought into having that explosive fall into the alien mouth. I had somewhat pre-judged them the first episode in their ability to work together but they really turned it around this time. The Eccentrics (Sam & Jessica) - I don't get these two and part of me feels like it's just an act. I kind of want to go back and watch the show again and see how they edited it because I feel like they must argue with each other early on to get screen time and drama, but yet they still put together a decent looking cat in the end. Definitely eccentric though, I won't mind when they leave just on that account. Clark Kent & Superman (Christian & Aaron) - There is definite talent here but man those guys are cocky. So funny when the two people cheering on how their set got destroyed was essentially themselves. I mean, hey you need to sell it, better than saying "ooh that didn't work"... let the judges decide. So I get that part but still, we've got over-confident "Lego Instructor" and ginormous Army Sergeant. Interesting team. Married Thespians (Flynn & Richard) - I could care less about their "lifestyle", though I was concerned in the beginning that the producers would emphasize it way too much and I'm pleased that so far it's been rather subtle. Funny seeing the opposites attract thing going on, the nervous stressed out one with the calm level-headed one. Brothers Who Brick (Travis & Corey) - These guys are interesting because so far their builds have been rather "bricky" and "blocky". Not that everything has to be smooth and polished but that type of thing might be required down the road so I'll be interested to see how they adapt. East Coast Brickers (Mel & Jermaine) and The Unicorns (Krystle & Amie) - Neither of these teams have gotten much screen time and are somewhat under the radar. If they don't differentiate or stand out in some way I don't see them sticking around long. Father & Son BFFS (Manny & Nester) - These two are funny to watch interact and listen to. Like others, they somewhat have 'hobby-level' talent but I don't see them lasting long. The Bearded Buiders (Boone & Mark) - These guys are smart, fun, and to me have seemed to be very versatile. The challenge could change, and so do the requirements, but they still tend to bring a polished end product and I think that's one of their advantages is their adaptability. Only 2 episodes in though, so we'll see. Higher the Hair, Closer to God (Jessie & Kara) - Glad to see them go. Between episode 1 & 2 they didn't present that much Lego-building talent. I'm sure their over-the-top personalities and facial expressions got them on the show. Next...

  11. Sign me up. Every Creator Expert set at a minimum should have this option to upgrade the model. Surely a company the size of Lego can streamline the process to bring costs down vs. the smaller companies that do this now. The question will be whether Lego does this with their current catalog or if they go back and create these for sets that have already retired. My guess would be no, but maybe they surprise me if they go through with this.

  12. Thoughts on EP.2: - Really impressed with the couples build (Green Alien) I think they are one to watch as a finalist. - Shaking my head when the Gold Brick team was building with Train tracks. Jamie literally told them not to build with technic, but they did anyways. Great build techniques and I think this team is good, but depending on the type of build, they can get overconfident and lost in their build structure and not the end goal. - Im ready for the older guys to leave, it stresses me out watching that guy stress about building. Just build! - YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND LEGO! No, man, I think we just don't understand you. Chill and be nice. Im looking forward to EP.3 with the contestants building the other half of whatever object they are assigned. Will Arnett has totally embraced his dad jokes.

  13. It was a matter of time I suppose. Keep them reasonably priced and they will sell. I'd be willing to bet only a small percentage of the LEGO audience even know lights exist for sets...now that they can buy the set and the light kit in the same transaction, they will be a hit. Now....make it so I can hook them to a central hub that is remote controlled so I can control my lights without opening and closing my cabinets....winner!

  14. Sorry to hear about issues with the hosting company. Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist with bringing the new brickfolio online as I work in IT and have done a fair share of web design.

  15. For me the best sales window for Potter was 2 years ago, when everything sold out (except for the spider and the train) so there was a flip window at Xmas. This year they made lots of everything and some sets got extended life so now discounts come into play. I think the sub 30 euro sets will struggle and the sweet spot is in the 50-100 euro price range. Problem is they keep making more and more sets yet nothing is retiring. I have more Sparkle Babies than Aragog´s but the UK market is killing both of them due to more stock and lower RRP. Tough to sell those little sets due to shipping, moreso in OZ I woul think. As always, if you bought them for free and sell on Amazon FBA then happy days.

  17. I like the blacksmith shop due to the unique look of the build, don't really care what it's called. I see a goat in there, wonder if those will make a return. I'd bet Lego scales this thing down and just uses some similar techniques.

  19. Ouch 8 is a bit early. My son made it until 12-13 before the big storage bins were brought out. But an active kid with friend's and hobbies is a win. After that, I started some holiday build traditions so we would all get into building a kit as a family on special occasions. just want to keep it fun so he will get back into it one day.(I'm sure he'll have hundreds of kits to still sell when I;m gone. HA)
