  1. Not so much as what I built today but what I will be building. I got a call from my local Lego store manager saying a lady dropped off a big box of old Lego that she wanted to recycle. Luckily the manager saw a few old modulars on there and thought to call me. She asked if I wanted to come pick up the box and sent me a pic. First thing I saw were parts to the Grand Emporium and A Cafe Corner. I couldn't get to the store fast enough. I brought the box home and after starting to dig through it I saw all the parts to Market street inside. Going to be a fun weekend.

  4. You speak with such certainty in nearly everyone of your posts that it is also off-putting. Presumably, the reason why this modular has been out so long is because it is a phenomenal seller for LEGO. The market isn't static. There are always new entrants that will have missed this one. At $112 you aren't going to lose money on this set unless you are just really terrible at selling LEGO. Just because it doesn't make sense to you to buy it doesn't mean it's not a good decision for someone else. I'll give you the same advice my wife and I do our 8 year old: talk less and listen more.

  9. Love Rush. Possible the best drummer that ever played. He was the main lyricist for them too. Only 67, cancer sucks.

  10. You were right mate. Contacted both parties and eventually worked out for them to ship to each other. They only live 2 suburbs apart which was why I stuffed it up in the first place. Only cost me $50 in partial refunds so no dramas.

  11. You must have me confused with someone else since I rarely post here. Also, I didn't know there was a BP concensus that the Parisian Restaurant was a failure as an investment. I guess that depends on how long you've been holding them. I only recently bought some on sale. I guess if you've had them for 5-7 years you might feel differently.

  13. No, that usually takes quite a while for a discount like that on a big ideas set, it also doesn't happen often. Which I found out by waiting too long on the fishing store. I also have lots of storage room.

  15. I'm working on the new bat mobile, what a great presentation. Amazing techniques that I could never come up with. Just finished bag 10. We are watching Batman movies while I build.

  16. The first roof section is a little tricky, but the rest is designed really well. My 7-year old daughter was skipping the roof parts and had things out of whack. I had to back out bag 4, but once I found the pieces it wasn’t too bad.

  19. Your child has good taste! I agree though, that set looks like trash. Small detail but the “G” is facing the wrong side of the field. It’s facing the visitors’ sideline, and should be facing the home sideline. Also, no tunnel in the southwest corner for the players to run out from!? Come on?! Did a Bear fan design this? Lastly, they are missing the entire upper deck in the south end zone that they added on 4-5 years ago. This model must be old. If you need some accurate photos I’ll be there in my usual seat this Sunday night for the playoff game against Seattle. GPG! [emoji2957]

  20. I’ve been trying to make comments for the last month but my comments are hidden and says need to be approved - they never are approved. Can anyone help?

  21. The last dozen or so sets I’ve purchased on release day with the intention of cutting the seals and building are either still sitting in my “build” pile or saw a price spike just after release and fell prey to my black QFLL heart.

  23. You are assuming everyone buying at $150-$200 are newby investors. Investors aren't what has kept that set in production for nearly 7 years. And I assumed the poster that talked about clicking the buy button at LEGO was referring its reappearance today for $112 limit 20 at LEGO shop at home. But I could be totally wrong there. I missed the conversation where folks were being encouraged to buy to buy at MSRP for investment.

  24. Wow. How many of the millions of AFOLs do you know? I hope you didn’t take too much time through out your day thinking through each one. If you took just one second to think of one name it would take you... .. ..... Sorry, I ran out of fingers.

  25. I love the modular but they worry me as an investment. It's a lot of cash to tie-up in one item. A shitty buyer on ebay would be disappointing.

  26. As an honest person I would tell the seller straight away and ship it back if they pay postage. Like Kshine says send a message and then you will see there true character, hopefully they will have the decency to send it back.

  27. Have you contacted the buyer to say that you are sorry, but that you might have messed up the order, & ask if they can please confirm if they end up receiving the wrong item. If you put someone in a position where they would need to state a lie about it (rather than just being able to say nothing), they will be more likely to be truthful about it.

  28. Wow, that is way better than I expected. At first glance I thought it was an architecture scale set. But with 3800+ pieces that is impressive.

  29. Well... I see your point...But then, any buy/hold (even passive stock ownership) is just reselling, the only difference is the time period. I don't think that is how most people understand the word "investing" But, you may be right on principle.
