Apparently somebody who doesn't have the time to list the set names with the set numbers. Dude is asking $20k for someone to bail him out and expects the potential buyer to look up all those set numbers? What a tool.4 points

I call this my ebay barn find. This was a terribly written listing that had wrong model number. I made a super low ball offer that was accepted. Paid too much for slow delivery, but finally arrived, tore it down, washed it up, put it back together from scratch, replaced missing parts and turned out to get a sweet cheap Ferrari in the end. Pretty happy overall.3 points

We don't have a thread for the new Tokyo Skyline, so I thought that I would make one. I've built and reviewed the set at Brick Architect, and I'm sorry to report that the set is quite a disappointment! (I'm not alone—Andrew at TBB was also really unhappy with the set.) ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡ: #21051 Tokyo Skyline My main critiques were the unsatisfying building techniques for the Tokyo Tower, the over-reliance on printed parts, the disconnect between physical geography and the layout of the model, and the disregard for historic architecture by not picking specific historic buildings to re-create. Nonetheless, this is a site dedicated to LEGO investing, so let's consider that angle as well... This set may do well in secondary markets, because the finished model is brightly colored and looks good (even if it isn't faithful to the city). If it is not available in stores for very long, it will be especially good investment. I do expect it will be sold for many years to come, however. If I were to guess, it would be retired the same year as #21044 Paris, since both feature similar-looking towers which look nice together on retail shelves. ---tom2 points

Me too. I sold several over xmas for $115. Average buy in was $55. It's not Wall-e but decent enough.2 points

There is a software called Brickstock (http://brickstock.patrickbrans.com) where you can open an inventory of a set and save it as a file on your computer. You can use the status column to mark whether you have the parts or not. This will also allow you to upload whatever selected parts you are missing to a wanted list on BrickLink to purchase them.2 points

Saw the new cars in the shop today and Im not really thrilled by the packaging.. it looks so .. weird.. and bulky. The paper thckness is not much better than the up-till-now SCH cars.. but really the dimensions of the box.. they are simply "off".. with the number of the pieces included inside they could easily go for the "city-like" strong boxes with special transport and harvester transport and it would look really cool.. but this. im really disappointed. Existing SCH cars have much better ratio given the box dimensions.2 points

Sellling for 2x VIP with an easy Tesco direct buy in of 35% off, not bad considering no Beatle has died or anything has happened to spike interest. I´ll take YSB over Caterham or Adventure Time any day of the week.1 point

that just goes to show how region affects different sets. These have been sold out in the US since the beginning of the year, and are selling for ~$17-$20 on Amazon and eBay while still not officially retired. I've got a few and plan to hold until next Chinese New Year (maybe pair with the Lucky Cat)1 point

I flipped all mine shortly after they disappeared after retirement and did fairly well.1 point

Keepa is $17 a month now (used to be free until a year ago). The sales chart for forecasting is a necessity for me to make the best buying and selling decisions I can. The ability to monitor AMZ and eBay for sniping deals is a nice bonus, especially when you find a deal in quantity.1 point

Badly written EBay postings are your best friend. I have now twice scored great deals on listings that were for multiple sets but failed to mention this in the listing title and main picture. Most people just glance and don't realize its a 2-for-1.1 point

Too much Lego? Your mindset is wrong, man. There is only too little Lego. Money wise, if you still have your kidneys and a roof over your head, you still have options.1 point

See him posting on HUKD from time to time.. As pointed as ever. Always great entertainment. Username changes constantly as he keeps on getting hit by the banhammer. One account last November only lasted 10 days [emoji23]1 point

Here's one (any advice appreciated as I'm absolutely fuming) Toycentric has been my best customer for the past 1-2 years. Only issue I've had is since I changed my handling time to 3 days, I get a message 2 days after the sale consisting of "Tracking number?" Which I learned to ignore after realizing they never respond. Nov 30 they open a case for a Rebels Assault Carrier, stating that the box had been filled with random bags and pieces of other sets - they didn't know where I sourced my sets, but the item sent was not correct. Now, 99% of what I sell on eBay is bought directly from a store or ordered online, and I inspect seals and overall condition. I checked my records and all of those sets came from the same Walmart on the same day. The box condition was quite good, there's virtually no chance someone bought this set, opened it and shoved junk back in, and returned it to Walmart for me to buy. So I replied to Toycentric stating as much, telling them I know they dropship, and that the third party buyer must be running a scam, for which I am not responsible. To no one's surprise, I got no response. So about a week later I call eBay. To shorten the story, I called eBay 4 times over the next two weeks, as the automated system emails poured in, telling me to provide a return label since the return was automatically approved, etc etc. Every time but one I had to fight with the robotic idiot who first answers the phone in order to get to the escalation team who has actual brain cells to handle the situation. Each time I was told not to worry about it, that the buyer was not eligible for buyer protection through eBay anymore anyway, and that I would not be held responsible for the return amount despite the automated system being allowed to run it's course like the unstoppable AI juggernaut it apparently is. I spend 3-4 hours on this to make sure I didn't get screwed. I was given multiple reference numbers, notes made on the case, etc. etc. End of December rolls around and I get an email from Paypal telling me the claim has been decided in the buyer's favor. I go and check and see I have a negative account balance equal to the original (minus fees) amount for this item. I'm pissed. I call eBay and after talking to a total jerk in the buying department (voice recognition was failing so I got routed to the default place I guess) I was made to call back. Got to the escalation team once again, and had to (as usual) get to the supervisor level to find out that toycentric had failed a chargeback through Paypal directly, there's nothing eBay can do about it, yada yada yada. At least he was nice. So I just got off the phone with Paypal who basically told me to get f'd - because they sent me a notice on Dec 18 demanding a response by Dec 28 and I ignored that email (somewhat unintentionally, being assured by eBay this would all work out in my favor, though I didn't even recognize at the time it wasn't from eBay themselves). I explained the whole situation in detail and this asshat said nothing I said was valid and my 8 years of essentially flawless business didn't matter because I simply didn't respond in their time frame and they already refunded the buyer. He constantly pointed out I only responded to eBay and not to Paypal and I constantly argued that there was no way I could know the claims were separate, having come from the same return case. He said he could appeal it for me but wouldn't because it would be rejected anyway due to the failure to respond. I told him that was completely unacceptable, and either something would be done about the amount or something would be done about the jacked up system that allows this crap to happen. He said I would have to WRITE to corporate, gave me the address, and I demanded his name and supervisor number. 2211 North First Street San Jose, CA 95131 Attn Paypal Corporate And yes, I blocked toycentric as a buyer a few days after this whole debacle started. I am always patient with customer service reps until they A: Fail to listen to my words more than once, B: Show obvious failure to comprehend the situation AND resist my requests to be transferred or C : Repeat the canned drivel they are given after I point out that their canned drivel does not address the issue I am calling about. Unfortunately, I have learned that the way these people are trained it is almost impossible to get past them without being an *******. And for what it's worth, the "return" showed up in my original (more beat up) box, with only the odd numbered Arctic Base Camp bags (curious), plus what appears to be some Minecraft (mostly very basic) bricks. I wish I didn't have another couple of years to get rid of what's left I want to sell. I'm so over eBay and their buyer buttlicking, plus the eBay / Paypal conspiracy. Between that and Lego trying hard to ruin the collectible value of their product, what started as an amazingly fun and profitable hobby / side business over 8 years ago had turned into mostly just a headache these days. /rant off1 point

Imo that will be the max it gets here in the uk. It's such a good set but the amount they have made has really killed this for investment purposes. It will be a race to the bottom once it finally sells out at lego. The amount of people that will be listing these after retirement will be crazy, me included. You can't really blame lego for milking this one though, such an amazing set. Just realized I'm starting to sound like Tabby with the negativity, scrap what I said this will be at 3 x retail next christmas.1 point

I just checked my VIP account and I received the double bonus VIP pts back from November (the glitch thing if you know what I'm talking about). In total got over 8,500 pts for it. Wasn't expecting it, but I'll take it.1 point

As a build over Christmas with my youngest we finished Treebeard (with some modifications to Jason Allemann's original design to fit Pippin and Merry). Jasons only used parts came from a (crushed box) 10236 but we ended up adding a few other types of foilage. Still planning to sort out the face a bit, but overall we are really happy with it. A great build and one we'll keep and have a case built for.1 point

Now they have moved to a Jan release, they could be saving sets for 2HY. However, with the larger scale, big sets are going to be closer to 200 euros and they are already struggling to sell at 100.1 point
