  4. It's been a weird couple years for us. I think I suffered through a lego investor/collector burnout (literally). In late 2016, the town I was living in had a catastrophic wildfire, burned half the town down but fortunately, our home survived - but the aftermath of the event left me altered. We could have lost everything that day. I was sitting on way too many investment boxes and collectibles that could have went up in flames. Instead that day changed my perspective on life, and I literally have sold out a lot of the collectables over the last few years only keeping what we consider the good stuff (mostly large star wars and UCS sets, and my sons jurassic world sets). Watching all my neighbors and some friends lose everything put a lot of crap into perspective. Well, finally, after a few years where my only lego purchase was UCS snowspeeder (last year), which we still haven't built. We woke up out of our slumber, a little bit. Yesterday, I went to a walmart, and sure enough, it was like DEJA VU - and I couldn't pass up the discounted Jurassic world 2 sets sitting there at 1/2 price off. So picked up the Stygimoloch Breakout set (16.00), Blue's Helicopter Pursuit (19.00), Dilophosaurus Outpost (32.00). And some Star Wars sets (Rey's Pasaana Speeder Chase (32), and found Kylo Ren's shutttle at a Fred Meyer for 112.00. Will admit the new Kylo Ren shuttle puts the old one to shame. Kinda glad we sold that old one from our collection a year ago.

  5. As many already know, be weary of BB shipping. I bought just 5 of these from them 6 months ago and returned 3. 1 was opened already, 1 looked like someone punched a knife through it 2-3 times, and the last one was definitely sat on. Soooo, best of luck to anyone that buys from BB in general.

  9. Finally got a chance to go through my black Friday/December deals. Before I put them on the shelf had to do a quick inventory. These are the larger sets I purchased and tons of smaller ones as well.?

  13. There is truth to that! My kids have opened my eyes to a few sleepers in the past. I will also add wife to that list...my wife has picked out a bunch of winners in the past that I may have overlooked....

  14. One thing I never learned... listen to your kids! Many sets I thought were stinkers came out golden, of which mostly I did not have...

  16. A long time coming but here is the most iconic ride driven by the bat (possibly any superhero really) with a design easily recognizable by simple silhouette. The Tumbler, while an interesting modern warfare take on the vehicle, featured very little of being Batman aside from painted black (or very, very dark gray). I've said this before I know but the Tumbler belonged better amongst The Punisher's arsenal in my opinion. Regarding the cape I can see both sides on the topic. The fabric LEGO has been using lately for mostly all their capes is quite good and flexible compared to the stiff sort of years past that may eventually unravel or get stuck/folded at unattractive angles and overall were just a pain to wash. However the molded cape with cowl here matches the material rather well and looks good for display over play.

  17. The original Batmobile was about the only saving grace from that 60´s Batcave set no one likes to mention much. Tumbler made a lot of people very happy, just not that many were resellers. However, it has still done better than any of the UCS Star Wars sets to have retired since then. This new set may help Tumbler as some folk will want both.

  20. Update: We disassembled all pieces and started building. So far we found 4 missing pieces. Just more of a pain than anything else at this point. Check those seals before you buy all. Even the LEGO store isn’t safe these days.
