  2. Not a set, but there's something special about going to the Lego store and finding multiple small parts I currently use for MOCs that I sell. $200 in BrickLink parts for $15.99.

  3. Not all doom and gloom. Had a nice post Xmas buying bump that helped push up my sales numbers. Just finished tallying up for the year and my sales are actually higher than 2018, but profits for 2019 are -$125.88 less after fees and buy-in costs than 2018. Few observations: For me, bulk polybag sales remain the highest percentage of profit with the lowest buy-in cost and hold times between 1-3 months on the low end and 8-12 months on the high end. In 2018 I had four months with basically no sales. In 2019 I had even sale numbers throughout most months. Fees are going up. Not a huge bump but it is significant. Buyers are more aggressive with the "best offer" feature. Many want and demand free shipping along with a discount. I tried to curb this by automatically declining offers less than 10% of list. Still, tons of messages asking for free shipping and a deal. Buy-in costs are going up for me. I used to be all about that 75% or bust, but more pickers and less stock made buying stock during clearance difficult. I picked up a large amount of stock at 50% and it really dragged down my numbers for 2019.

  4. It's tough to dismiss one selling platform if you are also going to dismiss buy-in prices.

  5. It depends. Mostly the same set per listing. I can generally get up to 20-25 bags into a single priority mail flat rate padded mailer. So I tend to list in increments of up to 20 for large polybag hauls on eBay but have had lots of luck positing on BrickLink and folks buying 80-100 bags at once. No harm in cross posting if you can manage your inventory well. My polybag buyers are Amazon resellers, soccer moms wanting Bday party favors, collectors, and even corporate folks wanting to give them as themed gifts for events.

  7. I'm tired of going up into the attic to get boxes and packing material. If I had a dedicated room for storage the task would be less onerous but I'm also no longer interested in the chase for bargains. Basically, my time is worth more than the profit available.

  8. It's been a weird couple years for us. I think I suffered through a lego investor/collector burnout (literally). In late 2016, the town I was living in had a catastrophic wildfire, burned half the town down but fortunately, our home survived - but the aftermath of the event left me altered. We could have lost everything that day. I was sitting on way too many investment boxes and collectibles that could have went up in flames. Instead that day changed my perspective on life, and I literally have sold out a lot of the collectables over the last few years only keeping what we consider the good stuff (mostly large star wars and UCS sets, and my sons jurassic world sets). Watching all my neighbors and some friends lose everything put a lot of crap into perspective. Well, finally, after a few years where my only lego purchase was UCS snowspeeder (last year), which we still haven't built. We woke up out of our slumber, a little bit. Yesterday, I went to a walmart, and sure enough, it was like DEJA VU - and I couldn't pass up the discounted Jurassic world 2 sets sitting there at 1/2 price off. So picked up the Stygimoloch Breakout set (16.00), Blue's Helicopter Pursuit (19.00), Dilophosaurus Outpost (32.00). And some Star Wars sets (Rey's Pasaana Speeder Chase (32), and found Kylo Ren's shutttle at a Fred Meyer for 112.00. Will admit the new Kylo Ren shuttle puts the old one to shame. Kinda glad we sold that old one from our collection a year ago.

  11. Even if you can't sell on Amazon you can't dismiss it as a price point. I base all my local sales off of Amazons price. Usually its Amazon minus ~20%. Everyone looks there to see what an item is selling for before they get to you, so you as a seller better know what the current prices are.

  14. Everyone is overreacting a bit. There are A LOT of listings out there without many sellers making sets look good. Architecture studio was pushing 600 dollars a couple days ago. Batmobile is pushing 300$. I was the only seller on a few of the older minecraft sets and the units weren't moving. Give it a little time for prices to settle. Aburg has to be 500$+ to be a winner (imo). The FBA fee's on the set are nearly 100$, assuming a 200$ investment you are barely clearing 100% roi while running the risk some one returns it opened up.

  15. Yeah, if we were all on point then we´d have stocked up to the gills with Minecraft Mountain Caves and Lego would then have extende it for 4 years more. There´s also the FOMO factor with such a short run set, we saw the havoc created by stuff like Brick Bank and Town Hall retiring after multiple years on the market so a 9 monther or even Cloud City are always going to catch some off guard. I´d be selling right now if I had any.

  18. My eight year old decided he's done with Lego and would like to put all of his sets away. He's bagging them up as I type, and this is hitting me harder than I thought it would.
