Yup. You make a purchase like that once, realize what you're supporting, and then recognize and avoid those listings going forward.8 points

Welcome. The key to making money around here is buying the right sets...at the right price. You should never pay full retail price.7 points

Built one of many UCS Star Wars ships that I have in storage. Felt good to actually display it. Stand is from WickedBrick.6 points

You're getting to the root of the issue, but it all stems on how TLG wants to grow.4 points

Wooden it make sense to just buy a few of these just in case TLG discards this set and it's entire branch of possible new sets in the future?3 points

I keep the 3 I bought two years ago at the front of my storage so I can get to them quickly when the inevitable rush comes. Also, they serve as sentinel reminder to stay in my lane.2 points

I still have those sitting in storage. My kid didn't even want to open one on Christmas.2 points

I'm just concerned that support for this will dry out and it will go up in flames.2 points

So much for no more licensed brickheadz Let's see if LEGO can create better version of Minions than MegaBloks2 points

I also dismantle the winter village buildings by section each year, and store them in the small white gift boxes (https://www.target.com/p/2ct-china-gift-box-white-wondershop-8482/-/A-54632670) that Target clearances out at 90% off each year. This slipper box size is good for minifigs and polybags, too. For storing modulars, I find the large flip-top decorative type of storage boxes are just the right size https://www.michaels.com/large-christmas-cabin-deep-tab-paper-box-by-ashland/10602036.html so that the buildings don't need to be dismantled too much for storage. Michael's coupon magic can often get these down to below $5 each.2 points

I used to take them apart, but now I bag each section and label the bags together. It makes it much easier to put back every November.2 points

My last qty 99 purchases were for quite a few orders of 4515 back in 2008 for just over $4/set. I sold the last ones for $85 on Amazon in 2013. Haven't been able to figure out how to replicate that margin... ?2 points

This is a potentially good idea, as they could stem this theme out. My guess is that these are around for at least tree years.1 point

with the rumor of more Ghostbusters sets in 2020 for the new film, i pray to every god & power ranger that they make an Ecto-1 the size of this batmobile. pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee1 point

We saved all of our Smugglers Bounty boxes and Marvel Collector Corps boxes and they are about the perfect size for each individual set. So we have each box labelled and we don't really have to disassemble much. Works very well for us.1 point

We do the similar thing, try to keep sections together so we don't have to build everything from scratch the next year (would take forever) as we own all the winter village sets and get the new one each year.1 point

History tells me, those don't all mean much. You place your bets and hedge your risk, so far in this game my net return is about 105%.1 point

That's a good point, but imagine shipping is paid by the buyer, and you get the set for 20% off. Granted the ebay and paypal fees eat into it, but unless you can find your niche on craigslist or something along those lines, ebay, amazon, etc are about it for some if not most of us. But, buying 30, 40, 50% off more times than not, you are going to see a profit.1 point

Received my Amazon shipment of one Vader's Castle. First, it's raining and the box was soaked even though I answered the door within seconds of it being left there. The large Amazon box had the tape pulled away from one end and the box looked like someone had sat upon it. Ugh! However, upon opening it, I was pleasantly surprised - the LEGO set was still sealed inside it's own shipping carton, which was in perfect shape. Has anyone else received LEGO this way from Amazon? (A set inside the shipping carton, inside another amazon box)? Knowing how Amazon will many times slap a shipping label on a lone set, I made sure I selected "boxed by Amazon" or whatever the button is, but for good measure I selected "gift receipt". idk if that was why it was packaged this way or not, but I'm very pleased.1 point

How in the world could you be complaining about Indominus Rex sets? If you haven't at least doubled if not tripled your money on that set then LEGO investing probably isn't for you, no offense.1 point

You do realize that Lego retires sets that are incredibly popular all the time without any intent to reissue them, don't you?1 point
