  1. Supposedly 40% off 75192 UCS MILF via Amazon https://press.aboutamazon.com/news-releases/news-release-details/amazons-black-friday-deals-week-almost-here-more-deals-day-and I secretly hope it's the microfighter... because it's the Ultimate microfighter

  2. Can we get a black Friday thread? Also, supposedly Amazon is discounting the Ultimate Millennium Falcon by 40% for Black Friday (exact time/day TBD). Anybody think it's retiring as that is a huge discount. 3. Like many kids, Lego was part of my young childhood. I recall having drawers full of it and as an only child I would play with them by myself. As I entered my teenage years I stopped and never thought about it again. As I grew older it resonated with me as a hobby for nerds and and children only. Fortunately, at 31 I have unexpectedly bcome passionate about Lego again. One day I was in a shopping mall in Shanghai, my girlfriend and I randomly picked up an Empire State Building set and built it together. We had a great time and I was impressed by the changes since I last touched one two decades ago - such as the more mature theme, numbered packs and the introduction in the booklet. After completing the set, I immediately got completely hooked! As a result, since September I purchased 37 Lego Architecture sets – all the landmarks (except duplicates) and 6 factory employee limited editions but no mansions - yet. It looks amazing as they will be housed in a customised glass shelf shortly. As I got close to completing Architecture landmark set collection, I went on to discover the awesome Star Wars series - especially UCS. I was always a huge Star Wars fan so of course I could not stop myself going on another binge. Since November, I purchased 28 Star Wars Lego sets of only spaceships and machines - 18 of them UCS. Unfortunately, my current apartment has no space so I will build and display them when I move to a bigger apartment. Meanwhile I will keep them safe in a storage room. It was interesting to use Taobao and Xianyu for all purchases - which is the equivalent of North America's eBay and Craigslist. There seems to be a massive and vibrant Lego audience in China. Of course, some sets were extremely pricey as I only wanted the best of boxes even if I was opening them. I like the packaging and will keep all of them. My plan going forward is to continue collecting all Architecture landmark sets (maybe start building all the mansions) and to continue buying any new Star Wars UCS sets or any normal spaceships/vehicles that I like. I just joined this forum for more information and insight on Lego and that was my short introduction.

  5. You can tell it´s been a quiet retirements season. MSRP = Make sets retire please RRP = Retire, Remake, Police Station

  6. Thus the more valuable they will become. It's all relative.

  7. They are hardly freebies with those minimum spends.

  8. If that's true they'll only put up five for sale then you can get on a wait list.

  9. I'm pretty sure you need a gold membership for that. I think Ed was charging 49.99 back in 14. Cladner spills the beans once u are in.

  10. I've been bundling the "losers" that I've purchased at 50-90% off RRP for 10-20% below RRP. For smaller sets I'll bundle 2-4 together and for larger sets I'll throw in a smaller set or polybag. Themed polybag bundles do well priced at $3-5 each. Staying in the $15-$60 range seems to be the sweet spot.

  11. This is an excellent set and is at a great price. I thought LEGO was going to charge $350 Canadian and was extremely surprised at the $300 price. Day one purchase for me. Even sweeter with the GWP.

  12. They'll def hold higher with the higher buy in. The numbers so far aren't to high. Actually less than last few years.

  13. All of these are remakes of previous sets, maybe different scales but all the same. For the second half of 2020 it should be a lot better: 4211X large helicopter 4211X cherry picker truck 42111 fairground mixer 42114 Backhoe digger with pneumatics (flagship set) 42115 supercar (possibly McLaren Senna)

  14. I am just now selling my OFS's and Detective Offices. Nice appreciation for one year hold. Will roll proceeds in to this year's deals.

  15. Look at the large retiring sets this year... some of these will be your doorbusters: Parisian Restaurant Apocalypseburg Carousel Ninjago City/Docks Cloud City The rest will likely be sets on the retiring list that they can't move at RRP, or are overproduced on. They're not looking to slash prices on stuff they can still move without the sale.

  17. also no longer retiring soon on the Canadian site either.

  18. Parisian Restaurant just lost its "Retiring Soon" tag on LEGO SAH EU - the question is: just a totally normal TLG website glitch?

  19. I'm truly surprised that Disney doesn't have any out on the shelves now. My wife and daughter would definitely buy them. As for Pedro Pascal, yes, he was great in GOT, but check him out in Narcos if you haven't. You won't be disappointed.

  21. That time of year. Did these while watching a movie with my wife this morning. On the mantle around the Charlie Brown tree. Will do the train next weekend and run it around the (real) tree. Like to get it up before the family arrives for Thanksgiving.

  25. This is definitely the dumbest fight in quite a while. I wonder how awesome it must feel to be able to proudly state that you schooled everyone on the definition of RRP.

  26. Yeah, I now, sorry. Know it's correct.

  27. Actually RRP is recommended retail price

  28. This is exactly the sort of set where I buy none because I think it's dumb and then a year from now I look on Amazon and it's going for $100. (in for zero)

  29. I'm enjoying the season thus far. Not amazing, but fine for now. Hopefully gets going next episode. It was fun to see the Sandcrawler and the Jawas. I LOL'd at the scene when he first notices them ripping apart his ship.

  32. Built the Hulkbuster that I received from Target during the sale a couple weeks ago. As a MCU fan I like it, but I have to admit it isn't the best set. Exposed blue pins could have been covered easily and weren't, but even more than that it's wobbly and hard to get it to stand straight up (tends to lean slightly forward or back) which really upsets my OCD. I did think the stand was well done though. Please, give us a UCS Milano next

  33. I just got back from Target. I left empty-handed. It appears that I'm banned as well...

  34. I've used the tool before, it's kind of messy though. Great for warehouses shipping product to stores within their chain, where box appearance doesn't matter, but not so great for a tight sharp edged box going to an end-consumer. I custom cut boxes all the time, I just do it manually with a straight edge and a tape measure. Mark 4 dots at the corners, measured from the bottom fold seam at whatever height you're cutting it down to. Get a straight edge (a box flap from a previously downsized box usually works fine)... take the back edge of a sharpie cap (the little clip part, i found this to be the best tool for the job, it dents the cardboard but wont easily cut into it) and use that to etch a fold line into the box using the straight edge. Cut the corners down to the marked height. Fold against your straight edge guide. If you measured correctly the folds should be professional and perfectly level, which the tool fails at most times. This sounds labour intensive, and it would be silly for anyone shipping in volume, but if you're a small to mid time seller doing a few sales a day, the savings in shipping costs can often be worth the 5 or 7 minutes this takes.

  36. And the rich get richer. eBay auto refunded me when the item was marked as delivered, and the message came in just a few moments after the transaction went through. ^^ I bet the FBI can check the DNA. I wonder if his daddy gets a shipping discount?

  37. I'm probably going to start using "My dad works for the FBI" in all my online correspondence. It's pure gold.

  40. Shipping label on the outside of the box and it's destroyed by the buyer? Something doesn't add up, like this guys logic.
    1 point
  41. ^The price? Nothing is more likely to damage a minty fresh box than air pillows. They are only good for keeping an item from moving around but then why are you shipping empty space in the first place - it costs money. Those things are harder than rocks so when they receive an impact the force transfer on to the next weakest link eg the lego box. I am sure someone has done extensive testing on this but for me the best solution is always to cut an exterior box snuggly down to size, at most with a layer of bubble wrap round the lego box to avoid scuffing.

  42. Arrived at home to this from ebay. Label stuck to the side. The conversation has been even better. Worth the price of admission. Someone is about to receive their SNAD wakeup call.
