I’m half Chinese. My wife is Chinese. No Chinese or Asian that I know are offended. In fact, it looks great. Kids love it because it’s colorful and cool. Also, it’s in line with the ninjago series, so why is this different? Western people need to stop being offended on behalf of other cultures. You being offended on our behalf is true racism...racism of low expectations. I often feel complimented when other cultures try out our cultural foods, clothing, and other festivities. If you don’t like it, then that’s your choice. But don’t dislike it on behalf of other people.3 points

My guess is, you have no idea of the answer to this question. You’re assumption just points that you think everyone is like you and would have nothing to do with cultural heritage. There are a lot of Americans that would love annual Americana sets. Paul Revere, the crossing of the Delaware, The Santa Maria. Boston Tea Party would be a best seller. I’m not one of them, but I know they’re out there. There are Parents that love this stuff. And kids love Lego. They’ll build it with their parents, then when they’re not looking, tear it apart and build the helicopter that they truly wanted. Reminds of Epcot. Disney is the puppet master.2 points

I doubt it. It seems to be the forgotten creator car on most boards though. It will likely be a candidate for 2021, with No Time to Die coming out next year.1 point

One interesting thing to note. Just a few years ago if you told me LEGO was retiring 200+ sets, I would have asked if they were closing business. We live in interesting time. There are side effects of having this huge of catalog that we won't see until 2022 or beyond.1 point

Again, so far the sets released have been associated with Chinese New Year theme. LEGO have been consistent with the sets within this theme. Think of it like Winter Village series. It would be jarring if all the sudden they introduce a beach vacation set for Christmas 2020 (as much as fans in Australia might want 1 ) For all we know this Chinese New Year theme is a test run for LEGO and they may have other Asian inspired themes in the pipeline. Also, what do you want to see on distinctively Chinese/Asian modern theme? I would argue there are fewer distinctions between "west" vs "east" in the current time. A lot of the existing LEGO themes are not regional specific, meaning they can be played by kids all around the world (with a little bit of imagination). For example, the LEGO sets from police and fire fighter lines pretty much look like the police and fire fighters in other places in the world.1 point

BTW there are currently 538 SVs on Bricklink EUR compared to 103 Old Fishing Stores, 109 Voltrons, 107 Banks, 335 Pet Shops, 355 Ectos and 446 PRs. Only T1 would appear more hoarded at 880 units. That´s a hell of a lot of stock considering many people will not have even bothered listing theirs yet. The good news is almost all are listed at RRP or above.1 point
-
Actually, it's not really standard at all for a set that doesn't stay in stock anywhere. If it were October 2020, I would agree with you.1 point
-
I wouldn’t really consider it a sale. It’s the standard 20% markdown that Walmart has come for LEGO sets for quite some time.1 point
-
Dang, color me wrong. That seems like a really odd sale, but I suppose that's how it goes.1 point

Kohl's shipped sets to me in a bag, and they're crushed and completely un-sellable. FU, Kohl's. Have fun with your damaged returns.1 point

I know everyone likes to point the finger at Disney for the demise of Star Wars but I don't quite buy that. The other studios under Disney's control, Marvel, Pixar, and their own Disney Studios have been thriving so to say they simply don't know what they are doing with star wars seems simplistic. I think the issue is Kathleen Kennedy. I don't think she has a great understanding on how to manage the IP but she is too powerful and supported within the studio itself for Disney to dislodge her. She has also allowed star wars to become a bit of a political/social platform which I think has tainted the franchise from the fun space adventure it used to be.1 point
