THE LEGO MOVIE 2 Welcome to Apocalypseburg! 70840 Building Kit, New 2019 : $219.9 Amazon . ($80 off )2 points

I think this might be because they are sourcing from their own stores and then instead of correctly charging you the sales tax for the locale in which you reside, they are strangely charging you the sales tax for the store location it is being shipped from. I'm not 100% on this, but it seems a likely culprit.1 point

I like the party bus (70828). It's got a sleek and creative design, and I think it would appeal to kids who like the Friends theme--especially along the lines of the pop-star stuff. Of course, that's not based on any real data, as my Target is sitting on these 7 deep and it can't even crack the top 100 in building toy sales on Amazon even at its current 50%-off price.1 point

One man's opinion......probably wrong I hadn't seen this set on a store shelf until yesterday (I hadn't really looked at stuff for months). I was intrigued by the size of the box and set, but as I looked at the box "art" and looked at the ship, there wasn't one thing that made me want to buy this. Drab, boring, awful ship design, etc. Many times, I see a box, and it triggers the desire to buy. This box triggered my desire to not even bother looking at the back. For piece count/price, the set will still be a mild winner, one day, at 50%.1 point

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6095472/ Release Date: 14 August 2019 (USA) Yep, came and gone... with very little fanfare I might add. I asked a LEGO manager about sets for Angry Birds 2. They said there were no sets. Not even LEGO picked up Movie #2. Looks like a good call by LEGO: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl1006863873/?landingModalImageUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fm.media-amazon.com%2Fimages%2FG%2F01%2FIMDbPro%2Fimages%2Fhome%2FwelcomeToBomojov2._CB1571421611_.png1 point

Bad news, it was an August release. I guess someone is going to spend their Xmas parting out those pallets.1 point

Even with the whole theme 50% off, only one tlm2 set managed to make amazon top 100. Emmett house #92 meh Why waste ur money investing in TLM2 theme when It sells poorly now. Doesn’t bode well. And 75% off is just around the corner and then ur into a long hold at 50% bye bye Cagr just my two cents. Maybe I’ll be wrong but I doubt it. So many easier tried and true investment choices but to each their own.1 point

Not to play Devil's advocate too hard, but I find it a bit baffling when people complain about getting banned. Target (and other stores) have pretty open policies about their rights to ban suspected resellers. I don't wish ill on anyone, but a lot of folks in the "game" are pretty selfish, and they don't understand not only do their exploitative policies hurt themselves, they hurt everyone in the long run by having stores changing policies that make things harder on everyone. I've witnessed it in real time over the years. If folks used a bit more restraint and weren't as obvious (And let's be honest, we're all resellers here) - maybe they'd avoid the banhammer. Maybe don't order 10k of stuff during one sale. Normal customers don't do that. If you aren't willing to face the consequences of a speeding ticket, don't speed. Spread out your orders, be patient, use different sources = don't get banned. People get bent out of shape when someone undercuts them by a penny, but no one seems to bat an eye when a couple shortsighted folks make huge orders that cause massive fallout throughout the industry. It's very narrow sighted. --- On an unrelated note, I think it's interesting Target is kind of doing their clearance this way. Markdown the prices online, ship stuff from stores. Saves them the time and hassle of stickering/restickering/moving stock in stores. It's a pretty smart move really. And stuff is more likely to move at 50% when the whole country is the customer base, as opposed to stuff hanging out til 70% in stores. And it avoid them dealing with the closeout stores.1 point

Originally the summer wave Potter sets were on a 1.5 year run but I think TLG saw the sales data from that first Xmas and decided to extend them all another year. If they have gone back on that decision, it´s new to me. I think it´s only the 2 Wizarding World sets that are done this year. Another point is how many they have made for this Xmas and whether there s any flip potential like last year.1 point

raptor set was onsale and in production for 6 months in the rest of the world after north america eol so it wasn't a broken mold. i don't mind - that was an investment lay up. These kind of illogical one offs and surprise retirements are what keep things interesting. yeah lets have a limited edition 5000 brickheadz that we won't publicize and only offer online at walmart and target and no where else in the world because no one would ever buy those thanks again TLG for money in my pocket. i never said lego was dumb. just that the business decisions often seem to be counterproductive to maximizing their profit. those same decisions often help me maximize my profit so I am happy with the status quo.1 point

People often don't realize that when you put a lot of smart people together in a corporation, you often get some profoundly stupid and illogical decisions being made Sent from my SM-G965U using Brickpicker Forum mobile app1 point

Lego produce a rolling exit date list as part of their wholesale ordering system and the only people privy to it are usual buyers or their friends. Lego don´t like this info being shared, same with all the new set info with confidential watermarks so not many people "in the know" want to say how and why they know as it could cause them or their friends problems.1 point

For those who are interested, I posted before on 10257 to be retired 0n 31 Dec 2020, it seems that the date has been revised to 31 Dec 2019 instead.1 point

He's confident for a reason. Question is which ones of those will actually dry up. Retirement means a lot less since last year and can guarantee it will be worse this year. 10259, 76100, 75190, 10214 are good examples. All retired last year. 2 LEGO marked retired but have been available all year and 2 LEGO still is selling themselves along with others cause they have so much excess stock. Amazon still sitting on 967 Winter Stations in late Sept. There are more sets but those are just a few examples. LEGO has been having a habit of dumping the last unsold batches to random retailers in large quantities last few years so probably see more of that and then the ones really oversaturated will still be available at multiple retailers even though they aren't in production anymore.1 point

There’s more to the story. Unless things have changed since 2013. There is a roadmap, but it’s flexible. Disclosure Information not guaranteed, this is from an informal “chat” with a LEGO store manager 6 years ago. There are are two streams “originals” and licensed. Licensed sets are set by contract to a certain agreed run/qty, if the set sells better than expected then they usually (but not always) agree another run with the licensor. If a popular set does not have a new run agreed, then there’s the money for investors, assuming they bought in on that set. The Ferrari F40 (10248) comes to mind. The VW T1 is likely under a never ending license. VW really need good publicity, they’ll take whatever they can get! Probably the bug too - why did I buy so many? Original sets are an absolute wild car, there’s no limit other than what the market will bare, **likely** when sales drop below a certain number of units per month, per week or whatever formula is at play, that set gets scheduled for retirement. Then places, such as this, spread the rumor and we all go shopping... now sales have picked up again! Guess what production continues... Tower Bridge Tower Bridge Tower... There are more variables at play than this1 point

I would be happy with the scraps that we get from those who have access to inside info about retirement dates. That information is hard to come by and highly valuable for obvious reasons so it is not surprising that the lucky few are not champing at the bit to throw it out for all to see. Although there is a good spirit of sharing on this board, there are limits.1 point
