raptor set was onsale and in production for 6 months in the rest of the world after north america eol so it wasn't a broken mold. i don't mind - that was an investment lay up. These kind of illogical one offs and surprise retirements are what keep things interesting. yeah lets have a limited edition 5000 brickheadz that we won't publicize and only offer online at walmart and target and no where else in the world because no one would ever buy those thanks again TLG for money in my pocket. i never said lego was dumb. just that the business decisions often seem to be counterproductive to maximizing their profit. those same decisions often help me maximize my profit so I am happy with the status quo.2 points

There could be many reasons to stop production like that. Contract dispute, a broken raptor mold... Yes, it seems illogical to us that lego would go through the difficulty of producing a new set, just to stop production two months after release. So there must be a logical reason why. Lego is dumb, is not a logical reason.2 points

Ya'll act like the #1 toymaker in the world doesn't have some logic to their madness. Do you think they just stumbled into their position? Just because you don't understand something does not make it illogical.2 points

I said they made it hard for QFLL, not impossible. Or let me put it this way. In the past the party lasted to Christmas and even beyond (ex: raptor set mentioned above). I bet this CP party ends around 1st week of December.1 point

Let's face it...the fact that TLG and their decisons are so whacky IS the reason resellers (big and tiny) can thrive...the opportunities are in the confusion1 point

The less people are reminded of some sets, the less they may remember to hoard them so it´s not necessarily a bad thing. My catalogue has 14 pages of Ninjago and SW and half a page of Architecture and that´s just the way it should be.1 point

I don't doubt that. But based on lego's current position as the largest toy company in the world I would say that the vast majority of their decisions are logical and have compounded to make them the champions. Many of their decisions would not make any sense to an outsider, but if you heard the internal decision making process and saw the results based on those calculations than perhaps they would make more sense. Even then, everyone is going to make mistakes now and then, but to say that logic and lego don't go together totally overlooks their market postion; obviously they get it right far more often than they get it wrong.1 point

People often don't realize that when you put a lot of smart people together in a corporation, you often get some profoundly stupid and illogical decisions being made Sent from my SM-G965U using Brickpicker Forum mobile app1 point

I ask, sometimes they give you one, sometimes they give you 2 if kids are with you, and I've had them give me them all before.1 point

lol. where's the logic retiring raptor escape 75920 after a 2 month run i mean it was logical that i made a ton of money off the set when the obvious shortage resulting by truncated inadequate production for a key set from a blockbuster motion picture - who would've thought that might have been popular. lets just make this set here for TWO MONTHS. quite logical i suppose. TLG is a privately held company meaning there is no pressure on TLG to make money to a greater extent than previously . there are zero share holders to answer to. just rich family members who were born rich. sooner then later Disney will buy TLG and then all reselling will be punishable by death . RETIRING CONTENT: My First Celebration 10862 is sold out. Can't wait for these to sell for $49.99. on sale for weeks at bn.com for $7.50.1 point

I guess they want to give Xmas shelf space to Powerpuff girls and Unikitty.1 point

It hurts me to admit it but some of these Joker based sets are already showing positive signs and the movie can only help.1 point

There is no "the list". I hear different stuff all over. 75955 is going to retire, that's in no list, Brickmerge says it's going. They make no mistakes. Who knows what else is going and what LEGO decides to keep. "The list" is obvious stuff that is just logic. No one can imagine 75620 or 21313 lasting longer.1 point

Whatever change to reduce/eliminate stickers gets a nod from me the WORST part of these cars have been the stickers Also a unique feature to add to this line would be a special add-on compliment that would allow alternative color exteriors and maybe a wheel pack1 point

On one hand, the 6-wide offered consistency in the line but on the other hand is it somewhat limiting in how creative designers can get. I like the idea of creating 8-wide vehicles but I'm not sure how I feel about rolling them all under the same title of Speed Champions. I don't think it requires an entirely new line but my personal stance is that adding some type of differentiation in the title would be good, i.e. Speed Champions Deluxe, Speed Champions XL, Speed Champions DX, something like that. Maybe it's my OCD but after having the SC line set the precedent of 6-wide over the last 4 years, going on 5 years, it just feels weird to change the overall design standard and sneak it in. Maybe it's because I'm imagining 6- and 8-wide co-existing. I guess if they phase out 6-wide completely and commit to 8-wide then I have less of an issue keeping the common title. I guess Friends did that when they changed all the girls, but it's up for debate how similar that change is compared to increasing vehicle widths by 33%.1 point

Welcome to the site. One stupid yet effective way is to go through LEGO news everyday. This way you learn and build your knowledge of all different sets on the market. Hope this helps1 point
