Was in local store this morning. The destroyer was on display. Soooo dissapointing in person. It's pretty much 100% the one tone of light grey - needed darks and black in there to break the monotony up and make details shine. Also could easily see blues and yellows of the interior frame work through large gaps in the Hull build, particularly down the middle and round the rear engines. The big Falcon is much more impressive and visually interesting for the money. Also Gingerbread house super cute, gf wanted one then and there. Disney Train lacked any wow factor.1 point

I saw it on display at Lego yesterday. It's a massive grey blob. meh.1 point

This sentence describes the whole 2010's politics so far... But anyhow, back on topic. I think this is actually a good set for what it is, just way too expensive. I will get it at some discount.1 point

It´s been proven time and time again that SW movie scene sets are not as popular as spacecraft (I count DS as a spacecraft rather than a scene). It´s a more niche product for completists and we could say that this set was much better than AoH or Ewok Village, to name two others. They know they sell few so the price compensates and if it really tanks they just cut production. TLG is still turning double-digit profit figures so there is room for plenty more mistakes before they do a GM, Nokia or Blackberry. We should give them credit for integrating tech and apps in Hidden Side and new Power Functions but that is also a double edged sword as then you are relying on outside technology via Android and the compatible phones and at some point those items will be obsolete. They will also have to keep working on their own app so expenditure will rise. Are they in a worse position than Hasbro, Playmobil or Mattel? Probably not and they can still get away with plenty lazy remakes to cater for the next generations of kids. The whole plastic environmental issue is one thing that is out of their hands and that could eventually bring them down - even if the toxic waste from batteries from all these damn hybrid cars and one year-life-cycle fadphones is worse, yet no one is talking about it.1 point

Instead of trying to make people believe in the no longer given creativity of their products by starting fancy marketing campaigns à la "Rebuild the World", TLG should better refocus on their products themselves. If they don't, money spent for developing flops like this will be burnt again and again and fans will get frustrated again and again - until LEGO are no longer the No. 1. The question is only: How many MORE mistakes does it take TLG to finally crash down?1 point

8097 Slave I It was part of a bulk lot I bought 4 or 5 years ago. I put it together probably 3 years ago, and for some reason had it in my head that I was missing a couple of pieces. Most notably because I had a bag of pieces with "8097" written on it, sitting in with the built ship. So this weekend I took it apart, and carefully rebuilt it. Only to discover that it was good to go after all.1 point

fun fact: every lot posted on here sells and my spidey senses tell me this one will too.. so keep the deals coming1 point

I don't know what you consider a lowball offer, but you are posting your collection for sale on a Lego reseller forum... The lot calculator is a nice tool for seeing if you can make a profit by buying someone else's collection, but I am almost positive that no one on here is going to offer you anywhere close to $3k for a collection of retired SW sets that have pretty much all climbed to their maximum resale value already... If you want to get the max amount out of your collection I suggest posting them on FB, OfferUp and Craigslist individually. Then for the sets that don't move locally put them up on Ebay. Stop using ppp. Weight is far more important. If you think the Falcon was priced fair and this set isn't... that's wrong. Both are a fair value if you think the Falcon was priced right at 800 bucks. That being said: I think BOTH are WAY overpriced. It's plastic, not gold.1 point

Who is the audience for this set? Really, any in the series? Too much for kids and not enough detail for adults. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum mobile app1 point
