I would be all over this if it was local.2 points

While i haven't read much new material myself, i have read articles that allude to the fact there are dozens of comic books, novels, video games, etc that fill in the gaps of these most frequently asked questions. Some call that Lazy film-making, lazy writing, but maybe there's more to it. To your point, i had read that there's either a comic or novel, etc that explains the New Republic de-militarized the Rebellion claiming the Empire was done, but Leia led the resistance because she KNEW something was up in the outer regions, and sure enough, she was right and the First Order rose up from the ashes to ambush and destroy the capital planets in EP 7. It's not that they forgot to wipe them out, its that they had disappeared. Now, is this a cynical strategy that you have to pay extra to get your questions answered by reading all the books? Or is it just, the movie can't explain every plot detail or it would be 18 hours long? That really depends on your point of view. Is it possible we romanticize the OT thinking it stood perfectly on its own and had no plot holes? Perhaps. Is it possible we were MARINATED in a thousand beyond-the-film information sources for the first 20 years of Star Wars and yet FEEL like everything was answered in the films? Is it possible we questioned far less the first time around because it was so wondrous and we were younger? For everyone that complained we never got a Snoke backstory and they just killed him with no effort.......In 1983 we had no Emperor back story, and Darth Vader PICKED HIM UP (ONE HANDED) AND THREW HIM DOWN A HOLE WITHOUT INCAPACITATING HIM IN ANY WAY.2 points

The freebie D23 membership will get it for you. I've had my D23 freebie membership for years now. As soon as I logged in yesterday, it presented me with the offer. No email, just there on the site.1 point

I’ll be happy to sell at 2x As it stands right now the only resale venues are BrickLink, eBay and the usual market places Lawrence hasn’t “made up his mind” wether or not to allow them listed on BrickOwl. I think he’d rather not. i don’t believe they have UPC’s so can’t list on the other places, and once the glut comes about when wholesale orders are fulfilled I think all but castle will drop in asking price, resale is slow on BrickLink, and that’s with them still on the landing page. When no longer visible then they will become rather obscure. ... or you could be right!1 point

The thing I find so irrational and irritating is how little the new films even attempt to address the massive plots holes about the size of the rebellion from the ROTJ to TFA. We literally just saw a sea of Star Destroyers in a lightening cloud vs a handful of rebel ships in the new trailer. Kind of like blowing up a Death Star and forgetting to destroy the rest of the imperial navy before going to that awesome Ewok rave. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum1 point

From the below source, "what appears to be a new design—a heavily armed gunboat seen on the right" https://io9.gizmodo.com/breaking-down-the-ominous-portents-of-the-new-star-wars-18375842031 point

IWOOT has them as well, although it's the UK version. If it's for personal build, I don’t think this matters and they're cheaper there.1 point

Whelp, i guess we know why they're re-doing the Classic ISD now. :) Let's see, at $700 bucks times 1,214 of them in that shot, i think Lego should do well.1 point

I finally got started on my amusement park project and thought I would use this thread as a place to post updates periodically. The first challenge was getting a 4x8 piece of particle board home atop my RAV4. I decided to use a couple of 2x4s with some cutouts to set atop my roof rack. Since it was temporary I just tied them down with twice. Once I bought the particle board it was pretty tough getting it on top of my roof by myself but it worked out eventually and I strapped it down. While driving home I was able to minimize at least some of the lift under the board by opening the sunroof and the rear two windows, that let the air blow right through. Still, I didn't want to be over-confidence, I spent 90% of the trip home at around 20 mph and never breached 30 mph. Once I got home I was looking at the 1/2 landing staircase leading to the basement and I realized it was dimensionally impossible to get the full 4x8 particle board down in one piece... So, at least I saved some money getting the full sheet (buying in bulk, essentially versus Qty 2 4x4 sheets). Got the circular saw out and cross cut the 4x8 sheet down the center and was able to move the now 4x4 boards one at a time. The whole build is nothing more than 2x4s and a sheet of particle board. My 6-year-old was a great helper, she had a lot of fun. I had a couple extra non-rotating caster wheels so two of the legs I cut short and put those casters on to make it easier to move into the middle of the basement and work around the perimeter of the table. The main design concept is to have a train running the perimeter with some of the creator expert amusement part sets standing out as the key rides. A few fun additions will be included such as the Lego Ideas Space Rocket Boy set and the BrickLink AFOL Hot Shots set. When I put all of the sets on top of the table it filled out nicely. However, last night I started building some of the smaller sets (People Pack Fun Fair, Bean There Donut That, etc.) and I realized the built sets were smaller than the boxes they came in. I was clearing volume off the table in terms of boxes not but 1:1 replaceing them with built sets... I am going to have a lot of gap filling to do with walking paths, street lights, shrubbery, etc. Covering the top of the table in green baseplates is also going to be expensive. Amazon has them at $5.69 a piece right now so it's a good time to bite, but I'll need Qty 50 of them and that's close to $300 right there! Anyways, just thought I'd share my progress. Feel free to comments, ask questions, etc. I also have plans for a centralized control panel that for each motorized right will have two switches (one to turn it on, and one to light it up). More to come...1 point

Saw these sets in Target yesterday and I think the packaging is horrible - to the point that it could hurt sales. It's very hard to get a sense of what the set looks like without picking up the box & flipping it over. I actually went through the lego aisle without noticing them & had to go back a second time to look for them specifically before I found them. It's a shame because I think the sets themselves are really cool.1 point
