I'll let my wife attempt this one, she loves this sort of stuff: price discrepancies & dealing with customer service. Not my cup of tea. I'd do it if this were the set of my dreams but not for Toy Story 4.3 points

He chewed on a few le-pin blocks, went insane, and joined a bootleg bricks forum. We are setting up a gofundme page for his treatment.3 points

They will allow one at $19.99 as an "ad" mistake. IN STORE. Not worth the trip. YMMV2 points

Fred Meyer has Toy Story 4 toys (including Lego) for 25% off. The biggest set ($49.99) wasn't scanning with any discount, but all the other lower priced sets were.2 points

TLG should have come out immediately once the idea is submitted or even once it reaches 10K fan votes and explain a similar idea is on the horizon. Such a sleazy pr move to say they already had it in the pipeline after all is said and done. If any idea's submission even closely resembles a project in R&D or NPD(NewProdcutDevelopement) then they need to not allow the submission to go any further. Coming out and saying 'Sorry Not Sorry' after reaching 10K votes is such a slap in the face, but then actually seeing your idea make it to production without any recognition would be a serious kick to the groin. Shame on TLG, shame. Be smarter thant that. Consider they ARE a 9Billion dollar company.2 points

Mt St Helens. Also, it’ll be a bit of a drive south of Portland, but you have not seen the color blue unless you’ve been to Crater Lake. If you can’t make a track that far I would definitely check out the Columbia River Gorge, Multnomah falls is particularly gorgeous. Although sadly they no longer let you walk behind it.1 point

William from Tacoma here so I will recommend Point Defiance and Ruston Point here in Tacoma. The Point is the second biggest Municipal (in a city) park in country second to Central park and has a beautiful rose garden, its on the water and also a zoo and aquarium. Not far is Ruston Point is new and features on the water eating and shopping, walking and is nice and kinda posh. - Also if you are coming up here and like history, mystery, beer and food there is a chain of Restaurants called McMenamins all over Portland and in some of WA including the new Elks Temple in Tacoma. They take old historic properties and restore them, make great beer and each property has lots of art, history and surprises. I highly recommend the Edgefield 15 minutes outside Portland along the Columbia. Look into doing a scavenger hunt there. - Also recommend Boeing Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington Park in Portland and the Japanese Garden therein. Pearl District and Alphabet shopping and restaurant districts in Portland. McMenamins everywhere in Portland (seek the cajun tots), also the Deschutes Brewery (Pearl) and Food Trucks up over the burnside are fun. I’m not in love with Downtown Seattle after working there for many years but visiting Seattle Center is interesting as it was the location of the Worlds Fair back in the day, I’m sure others will have good recos for that area. One more thing is there is a Lego store towards Beaverton OR for tax free Lego - Have a good trip up here!1 point

Hey Northwest Pickers...I'm heading to Seattle & Portland with the family the first week of August. We've never been in that area of the country so I'm looking forward to the trip. Can you offer any ideas on what to check out besides the usual tourist stops like the Space Needle & fish market? Are there any DB Cooper related stops or museums? Any National Parks worth checking out? Whale watching? We will definately check out a ghost tour and the Shanghai Tunnels. Don't worry. I won't have time or space for picking, so your Lego stock is safe. Feel free to PM me so we don't clog your thread with personal stuff. Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions!1 point

I meant which set they released that was similar to what their kid did.1 point

Is it mispriced in the first place? 230pc for $50? $20 may be closer to actual value. Gonna pass on this.1 point

I already know how this will turn out at my local Target. I'm not in the mood to argue about a mistake in their ad.1 point

Slow seller and over priced. Just a tactic used to induce sales. This set needs to be at least 60% off before I’d even consider buying it for resale.1 point

What did Target clear these out at this past winter/spring? Does anyone remember? $34 is 32% off...tempting. I like this set as well. I’m not a big Ninjago fan, but something about it just looks cool.1 point

Will they have the same 10-20% markup as before? I sure hope so. I miss paying inflated retail prices for items that are readily available for less everywhere else!1 point

So very true in so many ways. A few years ago when Lego had the Friends contest over the summer, my son was in the final group. While he won some free sets, the set he designed was practically copied by Lego and made into a set on their own the following season. They did this with a handful of them and while it didn't surprise me as that's just business, it's like a punch in the face to a child with big dreams.1 point

It's "y'all" not "you'all"... lol, sorry I had to find something to complain about in this thread. As a consumer I think we all look for what we like, which I believe is to your point - we make observations, even a wish list sometimes. Then there are the trolls who just dislike everything, which I think the article was more about.1 point

I think this "D2C complaint checklist" (by Brickset user ccc) deserves a sticky somewhere on this forum Direct To Consumer set complaint checklist by ccc. Does it contain a vehicle alongside a main build? Yes - complain that it contains a vehicle, and that those parts should have been in the main model instead of wasted on a vehicle. No - complain that it should have contained a vehicle, and that unnecessary parts hidden in the main model would have been better used in this valuable addition. Does it have play features? Yes - complain that it contains play features, the design could have been improved without messing it up for play features. No - complain that it doesn't contain play features, you cannot do anything with it apart from display it as it is. Does it cost too much? Yes - complain that it is too expensive and would have sold better if they had made it more affordable. No - complain that they could have done a much better job if they had upped the budget and included more parts in the design. Does it have unique minifigures? Yes - complain that it has unique minifigures and that it is unfair to put unique minifigures in expensive sets as it forces people to buy sets they don't want just for the minifigures. No - complain that a set this size really should have unique minifigures as a selling point. Has a similar design been on IDEAS? Yes - complain that LEGO designers ripped off the design on IDEAS. No - complain that nobody wanted this set, they should have done something more like the one on IDEAS. Is it licensed? Yes - complain that they should have done it as an in-house theme as they would have had more freedom over the design and characters. No - complain that they should have done this as a licensed set to make more sales and to bring out minifigures of (insert licensed characters here).1 point
