If you’re listing obo but can’t factor in a 5% loss over listing price....why are you bothering with obo? Not specifically directed at you but to anyone in general. If I list an item as Or Best Offer, I’ve already calculated and accepted the sale at 15% less than my asking price. Makes it simple when those -5% offers come in. Accepted.4 points

There is a new way of doing business with LEGO and these other large retailers post TRU. I think you will see more and more of these limited edition sorts of sets. LEGO likes the Funko model and is incorporating it into its marketing strategy.3 points

I was in Shanghai middle of March and found a TRU that had a few 80102 for $83. Bought 2 (one to sell). Asked about 80101 but they were out. My oldest son keeps asking to build it. May break down this weekend because it's going to rain.2 points

Going off Ebay prices some of the sets, such as General Grievous, can be flipped for a profit already so it looks safe enough to me. I suppose it boils down to the impact that resellers selling off cheap has on the price and whether or not the profit is worth the time investment.2 points

I had the pleasure of building an intricate LEGO Ideas model of Machu Picchu, built in the style of the official LEGO Architecture sets. The model was designed by Diego Baca, a proud Peruvian who wanted to help LEGO enthusiasts learn more about the globally recognized UNESCO World Heritage site. Not only did Diego build the model both digitally and using LEGO bricks, he also created a beautiful instruction manual in the style of official LEGO Architecture sets, and a matching glossy box. I had a lot of fun building the model using the easy-to-follow directions. The completed model is immediately recognizable, and looks great next to the official sets, especially the recent Great Wall set which also features historic architecture in a mountainous landscape. For an longer, in-depth review of the set and an interview with Diego about his project, you can read the whole article at: https://brickarchitect.com/2019/lego_ideas_machu-picchu-diego-baca/ If you want a chance to build it, be sure to vote for it on the LEGO Ideas site! Sincerely, —Tom1 point

LOL. Like Celebration gives AF about some LEGO. They don’t. Nobody buys tickets to Celebration to get an exclusive LEGO set. You have to enter a raffle and maybe you will win, sell it, and it will pay a part of your ticket cost.1 point

The only one of these sets I'm interested in, and only for the Shazam minifig. Which I'm pissed about. First off, I wanted a Shazam set for the movie. Secondly, I hate that stupid hood - I want him to have hair. I'll buy the minifig on eBay and forget the rest.1 point

6 years of almost exclusively fixed price listings rarely with obo and I've never seen this. Curious...1 point

I've sold 11 of the dragon sets and 3 of the dinner sets so far. When I was in S. Korea 2 weeks ago, most of the stores were wiped out of both sets. I managed to find one Toys R Us in a smaller city that had 6 dragons and 3 dinners that I happily bought a suitcase for to bring home with me. Korea SAH looks to still be sold out of 80102, but 80101 has come back in stock after being out for quite some time. When I head back over again in May, I'll see if I can find some more. After VAT, they're about $80 and $90 USD respectively in stores.1 point

Exactly that, I feel Grievous was the worst of the bunch, the prices will tank for a bit as is usual but will come back up again for Christmas.1 point

My local only has 4 mods of toys so not even worth looking, does seem to be more national that the usual Sainsburys goose chases though.1 point

If and when it retires, I expect a re-vamp a couple of months later with a new Mickey mini-fig headpiece an added blue brick separator and labeled UCS. RRP: $8001 point

Yes but most importantly, how many of these sets are going to be produced? If it's limited to 5000 but with no sticker, I can see this set appreciating nicely. But if production is not limited in any way, there will be plenty to go around, even if it's limited to Redcard holders only.1 point

In this game you need to spend money to make money. $80 spent wisely now will get you $120-160 by Christmas time. If you are looking to get more money faster, this isn't for you. There are very few quick flipping opportunities and the window is relatively short. Any more, if you don't have a computer program to find deals as they pop up, you will probably never even know they existed. Competition has gotten to the point where people aren't as willing to share deals, for obvious reasons. This is a game for people with massive capital (in relation to $80)1 point

First off proper spelling and grammar show respect to your audience; especially an "older" crowd as here. It's a keyboard/phone so I get it..but try. 2nd; your first post (for lack of a better anology) is like walking into a Costco and asking how many packs of gum you can buy with 50 cents...and I am really amazed at how helpful this community has been for the most part. For whatever reason you caught us on a "slow week" and even got a few old fogeys to set up their soap boxes (best types of posts to gain pearls of wisdom). And I want to 2nd the suggestion to read Phil's post. Good luck1 point

To be fair, Emmet was sold @ Walmart for 14.99, only allowing him 2 from the initial $30 investment.1 point

Due to scarcity. I have a feeling that you will be able to build an army of Landos based on what you can find in just a couple of stores. You can recreate the scene in Toy Story with the aliens except instead of saying, "Ooohhhhh," your group will creepily look at your Leia minifigure and say, "Heeeeeellllllllllllloooooooo. What have we here?"1 point
