So after the first one came back as a bootleg, and was returned for a refund, I decided to go on a hunt for a real GG. Started typing anything and everything into eBay, at 2am while feeding the baby, and ended up misspelling "Grocery". A listing that had been sitting for a few days at $59.99 OBO. I low balled them (instantly regretted it with fears that someone else would randomly find this listing) and the offer was accepted within a few minutes. The next morning I looked at the advertisement and saw that it had been removed from eBay "This listing has been removed"... the seller account gone as well. Figured I really **** the bed this time around... listing gone, seller gone, and offer accepted at 2am.... Friday it arrived, missing a few pieces and all the figures... but it's genuine and fits in just fine.12 points

This recent entry is great, and represents not only a great Ideas entry but an architecturally impressive building: The Milwaukee Art Museum. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/fe154595-dc80-49de-b009-eed7933d3886/official_comments#content_nav_tabs For those that have never seen or don’t know about it, the museum was designed by the world renowned Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava. It was Calatrava’s first building design in the US. Here’s a pic of the Calatrava’s building and the Lego Ideas entry: For those that live in or near NYC, Calatrava also designed the recent WTC Oculus: Please support if you like this!6 points

Me sitting on 10 10188 Death Stars. Guaranteed money, classic set, never do one like this again. Like sitting on free profit. Hearing rumors about them doing a remake Ok, but they won't do the remake RIGHT AWAY. I'll have a window to sell in. The window lasted about 2 minutes Ok, but like, it'll be different enough people will want both. Hearing rumors the only difference is better figures and a few cheese slopes Well, that's not even logical. They won't ONLY change a cheese slope They only changed a freaking cheese slope Me selling 10188's at 399.99 and hoping people have ebay bucks.6 points

Then they probably shouldn't be spending that $10 on LEGO... Perhaps groceries would be a more appropriate use of their funds...5 points

First, I'm also a newbie compared to most others here. I've been doing this casually for several years, but only seriously for the last several months. Second, sharing best business practices is one thing, but sharing sources for heavily discounted merchandise is a whole 'nother animal. Lastly, this is by far the biggest single qty of lego I have bought and it came down to right place, right time. That's really all I've got.5 points

You're right, there's nothing wrong with wanting that. Whining about, complaining about, and putting down people who decided to sell for less... I'd say there IS something wrong with that. Competing with other sellers is part of the game, and if you didn't factor that into your original plans, then you're playing the game wrong. Why are you assuming that everyone who is selling one for <$45 is "in the business of long term investment of Legos [sic]"? It's certainly possible that many of those sellers simply bought one for themselves (or their kid) and grabbed a second one to quick flip. And to clarify, *I* wasn't complaining about having to sell low because of thin cash. I was just proposing several reasons why someone might be selling for less than you think they should. In fact, one reason I recently sold one for <$45 (to a nice lady who asked) is because I DON'T really need that extra few bucks, so I said sure, I'll be nice. I do think this situation is different from most Lego investment because they were only available for so short a time, and the whole reason some people are trying to buy on ebay is because most of the stock was bought up within hours by investors. If someone just didn't buy a set when it was available for months or years, and now it's not available and they want it, I have no qualms charging them an arm and a leg. And I'm fine if you want to charge 10x for this - do whatever you want. And I'll do whatever I want. But I admit, with this unique situation, I do have a little more mercy for some people who want them. It could have been me, if I'd had work meetings during those few hours. And the more people b**ch about people selling them low, makes a part of me want to sell them low just to piss you off.4 points

People are here because they invest in Lego... there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to sell your investment for 10x buy in Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Brickpicker Forum mobile app4 points

you have people here who "invest" in lego - they buy 2 sets one to keep and one to sell. then you have people with quarters of millions of dollars invested . both parties are valid investors who have drastically different goals and outlooks. in the end, the biggest determinant in near term price action for a given LEGO set is the seller count. higher seller count = poorer near term performance. although there are only 5000 of each bh made in this series, in the near term there are waaaaay more sellers than usual for something this rare. once the casual mom and pop investors have their day in the sun and the seller count declines, patience will be rewarded by nonlinear exponential price appreciation . everyone who invested in this set will be a winner. some will win much much more than others.2 points

The LEGO banking market has collapsed. Good thing I put my money into Beanie Babies.2 points

Complaining is complaining and we all got to ask ourselves if that’s a quality we want to have. Especially on a public forum.2 points

People complaining about not getting enough out of this set while some had no chance and others got like 60 seems pretty petty. Be grateful for what you have whether it’s a Brickhead or a roof over you head. Lots of love.2 points

Just a quick update... I have my counts complete and have contacted everyone who sent me a PM expressing interest in some or all of this lot. As of right now, I have several people potentially interested in buying the full quantity, so that's the route that I prefer since it will be much easier to manage. However, if none of those deals end up working out, I'll be breaking up into bulk lots. If that happens, I'll update this thread. So, if you're SERIOUSLY interested, please PM me and I'll send you the list and some more information. Please, please, only contact me if you're serious. I've spent a lot of time on this buy already and would prefer that we don't waste each other's time if you aren't really interested in the full quantity. Thanks everyone for the messages, help, advice, suggestions, etc. on this buy. It is by far the biggest qty of LEGO that I've ever bought, so it was a bit daunting at first (I've since gotten over that!!). However, if everything goes as hoped, I may be getting another 5-10 pallets in the next couple weeks.2 points

Just drop the price, let Ebay send out the price drop notifications to watchers and then immediately raise the price back up to where you had it... a lot of people pay no attention lol Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Brickpicker Forum mobile app2 points

Sorry, I'm not going to be providing my source... That would kinda ruin it for me, don't you think?? Also, just to confirm, they are all brand new and not stolen.2 points

More Target orders arrived today. Still waiting on a few stragglers. No special numbers of note. If somebody is keeping track and wants them let me know and I’ll make a list. Trump can’t get his wall built, so I figured I’d start my own...2 points

Same here. Sold two sets and made back my initial outlay to please the wife. I told her I was done with reselling Lego a year ago so me buying these surprised her. I have four complete sets plus an extra Emmet and Wyldstyle left that will be gravy when I decide to sell them. Wish I bought more but am happy with what I was able to buy.1 point

Yes they are supplying the bricks at cost. They also consulted on the approvals/feasibility. There is a “behind the scenes” video on BL that gives you a feel for their involvement. Bottom line - this is one of many experiments by TLG (such as Forma) to look for growth opportunities.1 point

I think the Speed champions, Potter BH, Sleeping Beauty Castle, and Juniors Incredibles sets are no brainers at 75%. The other sets I wouldn't look twice at if the discount was 50% or lower, but at 75% it would be hard to pass on those as well. The problem here is the timeframe you set for yourself to move them. Most of those are still available in stores, and on sale, so you'd have to offer a substantial discount to the buyer. Otherwise what's the benefit to them to buying from you vs just buying from a store? There might not be much profit left for you in that scenario if you need to sell quickly. Ideally you should buy these and store them for 2-3 years. Once they retire and are unavailable at retail your buy in will give you an advantage over other sellers. At that point you could sell at msrp if you wanted to and still make a decent profit.1 point

I found a few early at $50 each and I thought $100 was too steep from that point on.1 point

I'm sure someone at LEGO has already proposed a LEGO VR headset to go with this. I'll admit, when staring at a pile of LEGO, I'd love to have software identify the part I'm looking for like in the LEGO movie. If it was connected to the LEGO parts database it sure would be helpful with identifying parts as a whole.1 point
