My wife and I are new to collecting. We had our first real lego adventure today. This morning my wife and I went and got the sets we wanted to build next. My wife got Old Fishing Shop. I got tower bridge. We decided to stop at a thrift shop. We found 2 gallon baggies of legos for $3.99 each. I got them home and so far as I can tell. there are four sets. Mars Mission 9694, Creator 3in1 Jet 4953, Lego Racers 8153, And an unidentified as of yet Mars mission large set. We also found a lego board game there. lol We then stopped at another thrift store and bought 3 totes full of legos. These all appear to be from the 80s with a ton of minifigures. My wife had been dying to start her next project, Instead she has spent the day cleaning and sorting boxes of blocks. I have a feeling we will be spending many days doing this.4 points

I have seen enough MOCs to recognize the similar feel to this one here yet the design could nicely enough be released as an official LEGO product. The price for what all you get is not too bad considering there have been significantly smaller custom kits available through various fan sites costing more than it would be to acquire everything separately and then some (such as a near two hundred piece vehicle listed at roughly $60). Typically rules limit creativity; however in many cases working within limitations can help bring out the best for a finely focused feature like this fort. The build is nice to look at while "generic" enough to fit with our own medieval monuments and possibly fun to play around having every area filled with fitting details over needlessly fancy fluff. Though the AFOL Designer Program may be in its infancy, the fan community (not to mention the selling platform of Bricklink) is far and well away from. Also the program could help elevate Bricklink into being more than simply a site to buy parts from. I have high hopes and support this project with every fiber of my being. Let the building begin....4 points

Hola me llamo Craig! Glad to be part of the forum, been trolling a long time! Anyways wanted to brag a bit and show off my new addition. It’s my grail, the set I’ve wanted for a long time! Anyways I primarily collect Star Wars, not really into the buying and selling but I’d be lying if I said I don’t have duplicates of some sets that I’m speculating on. That´s a win-win in my book. Keeps the theme alive and reminds people of the good ones.3 points

Thank you all for the warm welcome Here is a pic of a couple that I have found so far. I sort for a while, then put it together. I did not realize that I had the Star Wars 7657 until I found a couple pieces that did not mach the other sets. It was complete. The jet is missing 3 pieces. My wife is obsessed with the minifigures. lol3 points

TheBrickFan, when posting about this today, said they wanted to clarify the “BHz are ending rumor” my saying that only licensed BHz are ending. In house IPs were going to continue.3 points

I smooshed the entire Lego 2 minifigure series over the past three days from a new box untouched box I found at Kohls for my personal collection with no duplicates. This is the easiest series I have ever smooshed and saved money by using $10 Kohls cash. The following minifigures are double bagged: Crayon, Singer with record and microphone, Swamp Guy, Kitty guitar player with microphone and Dorothy, for five total. Smooshing tips: Lord Business (golf club) Wild Style Bandit (binocular, helmet) Abraham Lincoln (hat) Crayon (double bag, crayon) Emmett (hair, coffee) Watermelon (head piece) Benny (helmet, tool box) Giraffe (giraffe head) Hippie Girl (cat) Singer with record and microphone (double bag, microphone, record) Wild Style singer (hair piece) Swamp Guy (double bag, whip) Singer with microphone and cassette tile (double bag, skirt) Jurassic guy? (dinosaur) Kitty guitar player with microphone (guitar) Dorothy (double bag, rubber hair) Cowardly Lion (head piece with ears) Scarecrow (hat), Tin Man (helmet with small round circle piece, axe) Unikitty (body piece like a small bridge)3 points

Bricklink's AFOL Designer Program finalists have been selected and are now available for pre-order. Sets meeting sales goal would be produced and shipped out by May 2019. Being a castle/historical builds fan I was so happy to see a castle set, the Löwenstein Castle, being on the list! The castle looks fantastic to me. The price is a little steep, but as of this writing is already 47% funded, so chance of it becoming a reality is extremely high. https://www.bricklink.com/v3/crowdproject/view_design.page?id=62780 Here are the rest of the finalists: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/crowdproject/main.page2 points

Thank you for posting this! I hit 4 Kohl’s this weekend traveling to a family event and found (at the prices mentioned above) 1x 60204 1x 75929 2x 75216 2x 70653 2x 75220 (Sandcrawler - $69.99) 1x 75209 (Solo Speeder - $14.99) 1x 60195 (Arctic Base - $59.99) A ton of Adventure Time (didn’t price check) and many 31077 (Sweet Surprise) - $11.99). What I found is you need to have an eagle eye when searching. Boxes were sometimes scattered about, and stores treated clearance differently. One had a separate clearance section for toys a few aisles away. Another had the clearance Lego on a shelf on an opposite aisle across the way. What seems to help with some sets sticking around is some are poorly marked or not marked at all. Very helpful for those us who know what we’re looking for : )2 points

Maybe he is just a collector looking for specific figs to complete his collection? Not everybody is like us and view Lego as just a commodity. I know, weird right?!2 points

Five Guys just closed in our area, not enough business to sustain itself. My son is heartbroken. $.50 corn dogs or a $9 burger, I guess it wasn't a tough choice for folks in our area.2 points

Yeah, about half of the ones I have are beat up to an extent. The boxes I have found at the secondhand stores have seen better days but at a few bucks a pop, they'll be fine long term.1 point

Welcome to the world of Lego. When you do finish sets from bulk please snap a few photos to show them off here.1 point

Yes. Go to the "stop list" option under the problem center list on your main profile page. If you don't mind, can you please PM me the user ID of this ****** canoe so I can add him to my blocked list? I do a lot of business on BL and luckily have never had an incident as bad as yours. I like to be as proactive as possible in avoiding such obvious losers. Thank you.1 point

Everyone is selling the Wizard of Oz set separate. A little tip on cmfs, just wait and buy later.1 point

BL will be packaging these, not Lego. Think of it more like a Certified Professional set. There may be a Lego logo somewhere on the box since they are actively supporting the project, but it won't look like a regular retail set. The difference between this and Ideas is scale. Lego's production lines are set up to make 10's of 1000's of the same set. These will only be made in a few hundred copies. So it's likely more cost effective to hand-pack them, than to shut down a large production line, change over the setup, and only run a tiny batch and change over again. I really like the idea of 'small batch designs' to broaden what's available to AFOLs to build. I've been creating custom sets for a while, and its a tremendous amount of work. I hope the program succeeds and we get annual waves of new designs.1 point

No, this is new. BL rolled out Studio 2, a new lego design tool a few months back. It is pretty fantastic and easy to use. BL partnered with Lego and had competition to vote on the best studio 2 submitted designs and then see if they could be crowd funded. Some pretty strict design restrictions about no licensed content and brick #s below UCS levels, generic mini figures, etc. I really like some of the designs and think expanding the parameters if there is a new competition could really give designers more creative control. Obviously can’t have people throwing around Disney branded products, but using Lego brands Ninjago, Elves, pirates, classic space, etc. would be great. I loved Five Guys when they first came out. But now you can't get out of there for less than $15 for a simple burger meal! They have priced themselves out of the market.....sad! Sent from my SM-G950U using Brickpicker Forum mobile app1 point

Saw it today as well. I felt like there were a good amount of laughs. I put it above Lego Batman movie personally. My kids enjoyed it quite a bit. I think it's hard to recapture the magic of the original when you already are aware of the real life aspect from the beginning. I don't think this is a spoiler, but will say as the father of a 10 year old boy and 8 year old girl I found it quite useful for future use.1 point

Someone shared a picture on the bootleg Lego reddit page gloating that TRU in Canada is selling direct knockoffs of Lego Architecture sets. I sent the information to Lego pointing it out, and mentioned that other snitches get paid off. Asked if there was any change of getting some VIP points for the information. The response I got back:1 point
