Bricklink's AFOL Designer Program finalists have been selected and are now available for pre-order. Sets meeting sales goal would be produced and shipped out by May 2019. Being a castle/historical builds fan I was so happy to see a castle set, the Löwenstein Castle, being on the list! The castle looks fantastic to me. The price is a little steep, but as of this writing is already 47% funded, so chance of it becoming a reality is extremely high. https://www.bricklink.com/v3/crowdproject/view_design.page?id=62780 Here are the rest of the finalists: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/crowdproject/main.page2 points

Yeah, I had the same with this weeks sweeps weekly, still not seeing it so I guess it's over, or whatever Fun while it lasted, probably time to uninstall WinIt, haven't won more than 5 cents in about a month. Truly the end of an era.2 points

This is beautiful (I'm in). Regarding some that are saying that the price seems high. The pieces seem larger than the typical new LEGO sets (this looks a bit more old school). 2000 pieces for this assortment of pieces seems like a really nice set.1 point

I've not bought anything in the VIP pre-sale yet, but damn, I may just have to break my rule for this one!1 point

My name is Chris. My granddaughter drug my wife and I into the Le go hobby. She asked for Legos for Christmas. My wife and I sat down and put them together for her. She is 5, she can take them apart and put them back together. She just needed the sets put together first. As we sat there putting them together we realized that it was a fun hobby to do together. I played with Legos as a child in the 70s and 80s. Most of mine were just random blocks. My mother did not have the funds to splurge on the sets I remember begging for. I feel like it is time to make up for what I missed out on as a kid. lol Since Christmas we have done several Friends Heart Lake sets. We have also done 4 or 5 Harry Potter sets for my grandson. We are picking up our first sets for ourselves tomorrow morning. She will be doing the Old fishing Village. I will be doing Tower Bridge. Then I want to do all of the modular sets. I have spent a few hours going through this site. This is an amazing resource. Thank you in advance for any advice to a new collector.1 point

You get two happy days with a boat. The day you buy one and the day you sell it.1 point

I take back what I said abut potentially looking bad. This is good stuff. Really makes the Aston Martin look sub-par. Ive never taken advantage of my VIP status for early sets, but I will for this one.1 point

Confirmed here as well. No clearance shows in stock on app. Kohl’s has been pretty good so far. I have a few fairly close and off the beaten path which works in my favor.1 point

I uninstalled Win It and haven't played in 6 months or so.1 point

I agree. eBay you can find some great deals, for those who want to take the time to do some searching. Not great for resellers Amazon selling is so fast and easy. Click “sell on amazon” on the product page, add your details from a drop down menu (condition), add price, and off you go.1 point

I know I'm not OP, but mine did not show inventory online, yet had some clearance on the shelf. Others have reported the same experience. As someone else already said, "looks like you'll have to put in the leg work if you want to get these deals."1 point

Five Guys just closed in our area, not enough business to sustain itself. My son is heartbroken. $.50 corn dogs or a $9 burger, I guess it wasn't a tough choice for folks in our area.1 point

Thanks for the Heads Up with the catamaran. At 50% off you cant do much wrong. I wouldnt go all in quantity wise, but a few wont harm. Will be over 100€ for sure Xmas 2020.1 point

Based on your suggestion, I tried Habit Burger for the first time. I was very pleased. I felt like I could really taste the meat and cheese; also the setting is much more civilized than In&OUt...also a plus that the menu offers healthier salad options and "hybrids" (Fried Green beans). May eek out In&Out as my go-to for local burgers. Thanks!1 point

I’m a collector and I buy so much more on eBay than amazon. Amazon is full of fakes and cheap Chinese junk. So is eBay but that’s what filters are for. Anyways, you’re right. Rich old people are lazy when they’re not working and don’t mind paying a 40% markup for one click purchases. Man I’ve gotten some amazing deals on eBay but you do have to be persistent and work for these deals. I still can’t believe how hard it is to navigate their site. It was designed in 1997 and got stuck there lol.1 point

I went with a good variety of parts out of the Chinese New Year sets as well. The printed food tiles are too great to pass up.1 point

I think you (and I) are the stupid ones. Lol I’m always amazed when my kids pull those up, and I see how many views they have. It’s pretty ingenious, actually. There seems to be 6 or 7 (more?) different channels involved, and that they can keep the story going for as long as they have is impressive. It borders right on the age of believable (for kids at a certain age) and roll your eyes bad for adults. Part of me is fascinated enough to want to watch the whole thing, from the start to the present, to see it unfold. And part of me is like, that’s too much effort.1 point

I would disagree with you on that one. The new stuff is fine, but the older stuff is better. Sets were bigger with more features and less small pieces. Newest castle, train, and forest set are all smaller than previous releases. For example 2011 castle had great hall + 3 towers. 2018 castle has great hall (which is grossly fat/disproportional) + 1 tower. IMHO the minifigures were also better, looked more mature. Newer figures look childish/animated imo. You guys will have to forgive me, I don't usually post much, but I am a huge potter fan so I feel compelled to post more than usual ?1 point
