Looking back at how this theme is doing. Interestingly enough, the two small sets (Plane and Museum) are going for ~$60-65 FBA, while the (presumably massively hoarded) “reseller favorite” Mystery Machine is still selling sub-$70. Haunted Lighthouse is at $140, while Haunted Mansion sits at $190. A very clear case of small sets perform best (3x-4x RRP), with the larger sets hitting 1.5x-2.5x tops.5 points

Hi all, I couldn't find a thread along these lines, so thought it would be worth starting a discussion. Have many of you run pop-up shops before? I've run a number at local LEGO shows/toy shows, and figured there may be a lot we can learn from each others experiences. I've gradually grown my main popup over 5 years, now running a ~8m frontage and two registers. We typically have 3 staff to run the space, and use Vend as our POS as it's fairly easy to upload by excel stock files and manage payments etc. I actually didn't manage to get any photos of my last big show, but here's some from a small show we did earlier last year and the year before. I've seen some shops choose a "customer walk-through" style space, but that seems to be an awkward use of space IMO. Would love to hear about other's experiences! Also happy to answer questions about mine (within reason obviolusly). Cheers3 points

it's not the stores you have to worry about this year, it's the hidden bunkers that can be concerning3 points

the LPN RR number should match to an FBA return and you should be able to download the FBA customer returns report and it matches to that. Basically License Plate Number LPN so each return has a unique ID number. You'll see them back on warehouse deals stuff as well and when they resell some of the returns if they look new. When stock gets low I've seen them on some direct amazon orders as well. all sorts of ways they can recirculate back into the system and be sold again as well. All return loads will have them on them as well and a lot of people send those back in without taking them off (mostly from not even noticing them or not knowing what they mean).2 points

Nope, 21131 Ice Spikes. Box is beat to hell, but no signs of it having been shipped with a shipping label stuck directly to it. Perhaps they put it in a large bubble mailer, however, given the size of the set I think that's unlikely. Probably going to open this one to check the contents, then sell as Sealed Bags No Box. Too bad as it was selling for $100 just before Christmas and prices have come down again since.1 point

Nope. Clearance does not show as in stock, you'll have to drive out to see what they have.1 point

Amazon puts those stickers on pretty much all FBA returns, in my experience. It's just something they throw on for internal tracking and routing, is my guess.1 point

What is your exit strategy on them? Do you have one if you buy these? Parting out vs holding for one. For me, I can't handle the space and cost to ship for the Mountain Cave, and IDK about overall return on this so would rather put $250 somewhere else. Brink Bank, easier to handle, but you need to know what you should expect prior to purchase.1 point

I personally think they are awesome. They are better than anything I could ever come up with and it's a community event. Kudos' to everyone that entered and gave it a shot. Differenec of opinion I know, but people took their time and effort into this stuff and if these continue, the building and competition will only get better.1 point

I never use bubble wrap when posting lego. Always box unless its a blind bag minifigure. Tesco had more lego on 50% off yesterday as well as other toys at 75%. Seen HG at every tesco i was at.1 point

True. I remember when I first started selling and only picking up a few of the Deep Sea Explorer Starter and Scuba sets on clearance for $2 or $3 because I couldn’t imagine them rising that much in value. Never dreamed they’d go as high as x5 or x7 rrp on Amazon. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum mobile app1 point

Idk going back and building the majority of older sets I might not of built back then and I usually feel underwhelmed. Def have gotten spoiled by numbered bags as well over the years. Imperial Shuttle though still holds strong. Other than the gear I f'd up somehow in the wings that I had to do reconstructive surgery on that is still my favorite build. Out of the full truckload of first gen potter I had I never once built one though. Back then it was just about money. I know bad Raven. Had I known a dozen years later I could of taken BA for a few dollars I might of had different outlooks.1 point

I would disagree with you on that one. The new stuff is fine, but the older stuff is better. Sets were bigger with more features and less small pieces. Newest castle, train, and forest set are all smaller than previous releases. For example 2011 castle had great hall + 3 towers. 2018 castle has great hall (which is grossly fat/disproportional) + 1 tower. IMHO the minifigures were also better, looked more mature. Newer figures look childish/animated imo. You guys will have to forgive me, I don't usually post much, but I am a huge potter fan so I feel compelled to post more than usual ?1 point

I couldn't find this posted elsewhere (but if it is then please move or delete) - Bricklink is releasing the finalists of their AFOL Designer Program. 12 of them have been revealed so far, and crowdfunding starts on February 1st. https://studio.bricklink.com/v2/build/afoldesigner_winners.page I have no idea about the value of these for investment, but so far I am looking forward to a couple of them for personal build: "Bikes!" and "Lowenstein Castle". Hopefully they both meet the requirement for crowdfunding. It will be interesting to see how well this program does in general and if its something that LEGO pursues in the future.1 point

Good call, my apologies. I dove into it today and figured out a good system for 1st class and priority. I chose almost the highest tier in terms of zones, but overall I am satisfied with it. There was something I am stuck on though I was hoping you could help with. When I part things out, I tend to put them in padded priority envelopes. Now if someone adds my "parted out" item, BrickLink will estimate the weight for the entire set, not the parted out piece, which in turn could give them a heavier weight than in reality. So I was wondering if there was a way to "tag" certain inventory items to specific shipping methods. Basically can I create a padded priority mail shipping method, then tag certain inventory to only display that option? One weird work around I found is going to the specific item in my inventory, and under Package Type, choosing "manual only". That seems to remove it from all of my shipping options and only allows invoicing. That may be the best option but I was wondering if you knew of any other way to basically get a shipping profile attached to specific items. Thanks for any help!1 point

I’ve been able to sell 2 OFS recently for $250 each. Paid retail for both and did some quick flips. It’s crazy. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum1 point
