many of you should try selling these imperfect boxes on eBay. 9 out of 10 buyers don't give a rat's ass and good pics with general disclaimer in the description covers you for the other picky guy that didn't pay attention to detail.3 points

Hi, I’ve been around the forums for awhile but I never say anything. I’m a huge LEGO fan (specifically Star Wars) and I sometimes dabble in reselling. Bought a used 7946 Kings Castle off of OfferUp yesterday for $75. The listing said it was missing 3-4 pieces but I decided to take a chance. Of course it was missing closer to 10 pieces after I inventoried it, but surprisingly all the minifigs and loose weapons were there and all of the castle shields.... spent $5 on bricklink this morning to order all 10 missing pieces.2 points

I disagree about 95% with this. The flatter USPS PM boxes are THIN. They don't even have an edge compression strength, they are so thin (yeah there is a number no doubt but they make 0 claim to it, what does that tell you?). So to be clear I am not talking about the more cubic shaped ones, those are pretty heavy duty, but don't really fit most Lego boxes that well. So sliding a set for which condition is important into a nice close-fitting flat free USPS PM box, no matter how you wrap the thing (unless wrapping it in a cardboard type "shell" that will substitute as a second box vs. compression) will not protect it from the normal wear and tear of being handled, stacked, gently tossed, dropped, let alone any real abuse. And the tighter you pack it, the easier it is for it to get damaged due to compression. In fact, a stronger box with more dead space above and below the set is better, because compression is going to happen no matter what. Bubble wrap and most filler are only good for keeping a Lego box from clattering around and sustaining minor corner / edge damage in a box that is significantly bigger. Think about the trucks, guys. Your little 16x10x3 Lego set could be near the bottom of a 10' high stack of packages weighing hundreds of pounds, rocking back and forth for hours, hopping up and down across dirt roads, speed bumps, potholes, curbs, wildlife, whatever the case may be. That box is going to yield - and we all know there is plenty of space inside the Lego box, so guess what? once the outer box touches the Lego box, the force is transmitted to the Lego box and the item starts to become damaged. Common scenario is when a heavier, smaller box is put on top of these flat PM boxes, and the edge of the heavy box nearest the weaker middle section of your box grinds it's way down into both the PM cardboard and the Lego set over time. Bubble wrap and packing paper won't do anything significant to prevent this. I worked in a UPS hub as a package unloader for a year in college. I am a collector of very nice condition Lego sets, with 7 years experience analyzing hundreds of packaging jobs from other sellers, about 2/3 of which have been inadequate, and about half of those got away with it, through dumb luck... and I sell to all kinds of customers - those who care about condition and those who don't. The ones who do care have been seriously impressed with how I protect their purchase. I see it from all angles, and I'm telling you: DON'T USE FREE FLAT USPS PM BOXES IF YOU NEED TO REALLY PROTECT A SET.1 point

Scam. It's always the same. Post it in one area, and turns out they're in another area. Oh, they will ship it. If you string them along with a "no, I have family there that will pick up" they never will actually give you a place to me. They're happy to take a deposit from you, of course. smh1 point

6” tall is what’s causing most of the jump in shipping. The next time you ship, change it to 4” or 5” and you will see a big difference. 23” or 24” L isn’t causing the trouble in my experience.1 point

Preface: I have done business with dozens and dozens of 0 feedback buyers and never had a problem until now. So this guy makes an account and orders a speed champions set. I go to ship and alas, his street address is coming up as just numbers, no name. So I message him politely advising him to change his address in Paypal, let me know as soon as he does, and boom we will be on our way. He replies that he doesn't know how to do that, doesn't even know "what it was using to pay", etc. Soon after, in comes a RETURN REQUEST on this item that has not even been sent, let alone received. So I call eBay and of course they don't know WTF to do because they are trained to apologize constantly without actually resolving anything, as well as the fact that the system is constantly being changed and part of that is to lock customer service out of "tampering" i.e. fixing bullshit in cases like this. I tell them I am not changing his address manually because it forfeits seller protection. They assure me I will be protected, via notes being made due to this phone call, etc. I ask if that applies to PayPal as well, and gee, guess what? they can't speak for PayPal. So we move on. For those who don't know, there are certain seller metrics and other reasons not to accept a return that isn't legit, so I tell them that avenue is not acceptable to me even if I could get past the principle of the matter. Their brilliant advice of course is to just accept the return, refund the guy his money and start over. Or I can ask him to cancel the return. They have no idea if the order can be cancelled after that (the option is blocked now because the system thinks the guy has his item) but that seems the best bet to me. So I message him accordingly. Two days more now, and he replies that he called eBay and they advised him to not to cancel the return until he gets his money back. The guy has said he just wants to figure out how to get this item for his friend that collects them. He said he would pay double shipping or whatever it takes given his mistake, blah blah. Now he c***blocks my efforts to help him? He got a not-so-nice reply outlining how he is responsible for this entire mess and he can either comply with instructions if he wants his money back or figure it out himself, but I am NOT changing his address manually and NOT accepting a return for an item that was never sent.
