A note to all members new to the LEGO reselling and collectibles game...You will find clearance and discounts on most retiring sets, in every retailer, over the next week or two, both online and in store. They will go quickly. People have plenty of gift card to acquire these items. You should keep an eye on this thread and make frequent visits to Targets and Walmarts. There will be some great deals. The new LEGO movie will only expedite things this year.6 points

yep that's how it was last year. i was reviewing last years xmas posts and members were finding instore clearance deals at walmart and target on 12/26 but were on the 30% level. wasn't until around Jan 8-11 that deep discounts started. every year and every store can be different. target in particular seems very aggressive at moving product this year with discounting and relative absence of reported reseller banning. i am making sure to be at my target store when it opens though on 12/26 just in case since i've done the recon and ok with this risk/reward prospects. not like its 1 or 2 sets. i'ts 14 rally car plus half a dozen hovercraft another 50-60x architecture sets. might have to prospectively start out with 2-3 carts stacked into each other and bring the bungee cords to make a train of carts should the need arise. usually such optimism heralds great disappointment and failure but every once in a while you could hit it out of the park and once christmas clearance grandma sees you rolling out with 1 cart of lego she'll be on that like a fly on apple pie. if you got no extra carts and/or bungee, that claim is gonna be jumped. don't forget the elbow pads. great wall of china - the extended clearance remix here i come ?3 points

I think we are “hoping”. Here there are 10+ of these just sitting, with the Architecture sets, in an area normally reserved for electronics. I’ll be checking the tracker tonight before heading out for any disappointment on decent clearance finds. LY was 1st week in January for great Target deals here.2 points

I’m at Legoland, anyone got questions? I.E. stores have no BB, OFS, DO, Big Ben...as expected. Lots of mini coopers, tower bridges, architectures, and Star Wars sets that are on the retiring list. The new modular garage is out and plentiful.2 points

this was the first i'd seen this too . i just want to reiterate. the endcap is NOT in the toy section or even in the LEGO aisle. it's by the books and CD/DVDs and funkpop's tucked into a back corner that is lucky if 3 or 4 customers cast a shadow in that part of the store a day. only 3 stores out of 9 i frequent have it but if you're store shows architecture stock at all on the website, this is where it very likely is. i didn't even know about it until i saw the elves sets out of the corner of my eye while looking for some cds and went to check and then had to visit the men's dept for some new Hanes after I saw the bountiful shelves of architecture and technic (and elves too wtf were they thinking put this stuff over here on the endcap that has guitars and drums facing the main aisle ? . it's like they were pre-hiding it for me to have it be there for day after xmas - lol.2 points

I'm sorry for venting like that. A lot of the old timers that know me in real life and from here and Brickset know that I am an Industrial Firefighter / rescue and medic for a large refinery. I work that crazy 12hr swing shifts and get paid well for risking my life every day. I only took the job because I love Lego. I wanted to be a part of it . I felt great walking through the stores and meeting other Lego fans. I told them during my interview that they can just pay me in VIP points...lol. Ok...rant is over. Return to normal business.2 points

Smyths will most likely have it on sale again in the annual 20% off sale (instore only usually in September). However it seems like this set is now taking up valuable shelf space in stores, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get 30% off at some point later in the year. Its unlikely to go any cheaper, although Lego must surely start to reduce the big sets, maybe not directly but adding some free gifts with purchases, as sets like the technic Porsche/ Bugatti are available permanently 30/40% in other shops.1 point

classic dillema with the B-Wing is how to display...the older B-wing set (6208) has the quite awesome hanger stand that can display the B-wing upright; also has the better wing foils (thicker molded pieces); 75050 has the more robust cockpit and foil guns...I ended getting both (used) for my own collection....but that Hanger up-right stand is pretty epic in terms of Lego ingenuity IMO.1 point

It's the site whose name we do not speak, but to partially answer your question, their search page has a dpci finder link.1 point

I was literally the last person they let in at my local Target - ran to the back of the store where this display is located and they were already moving the kid car boxes out. So it's not beyond the scope to think all of these will find themselves in clearance. I guess one question comes to mind: What time does Target open on 12/26? ?1 point

Check the shipping materials thread. Use coupons on eBay, Staples, or another retailer that sells shipping supplies. And if you're buying odd sizes and not buying in large quantities, expect to pay up to $2/box at retail.1 point

Clearance traditionally. Conflicted on it though as most of my targets go to 30% and after these holiday sales that seems kinda skimpy lol.... Oh well going out anyway to get clearance Christmas lights to contribute to operation Griswold House1 point

Today my son built the 2014 version of the City Police Station with no help from me at all that I bought new a few years ago. It was great to see him take a technology break. The nerd part of me had to look in the sandwich bag I gave him to put the extra pieces in after he finished and he missed a few pieces. No worries there because I always seem to miss something when I build too. Like father, like son!1 point

why are we filling this thread over what someone considers a deal. Lay off the spam, post the deals and Merry Christmas!1 point

I think the microworlds were awesome when there was no Minecraft theme. But once the minifig-sized Minecraft sets came out, the microworlds suddenly didn't seem so great anymore. That would explain the drop in interest and resale prices.1 point

Some of you are so paranoid. Just ship it. I make so much off 0 feedback buyers without the slightest issue. Occasionally a buyer simply wants something and gets it. Not everyone is a coupon stacking mega haggling deal hound like us, let alone dishonest!1 point
