A couple of highlights of 2018 for me... 1. Knowing that I am starting 2019 "Steam Roller free". 2. I continue to expand my local presence through Facebook market place, buy/sell groups, and vendor fairs. I've drummed up quite a few cash sales and repeat customers. I'm looking forward to building my local market share even more in 2019. Cash is king.13 points

Some of you folks already know and if don’t then here’s a reminder. Avoid all this cancelled orders mess and back orders **** and buy these sets early when appropriate. Sometimes saving a few bucks ain’t worth the hassle. [emoji106][emoji16]4 points

as sales start to wind down, i can say from my experience that the safety certificate fiasco was 100% big nothing-burger. my strategy for the hassle was to recall all items, close all listings. ask to have my open case about the certificates closed. waited until the day after the deadline date for removing stuff passed. the next day created all new listings for all sets that i had that were on the list that i still had stock. sent them in. sold them all. done.4 points

I have pics of BN store/online exclusion list, but will not load here. Highlights: 21309 Saturn V 21030 Capitol Building 21310 OFS 31313 EV3 70618 Destiny's Bounty 41318 Heartlake Hospital BOOST 75189 HAW 75190 FO Star Destroyer 60110 Fire Station 60167 Coast Guard HQ Pretty much everything Creator and RRP $150+ JW and HP are not on list. Voltron also not on list. I have gone to three stores and cleared out Guggenheim's, Buckingham's, Farm Cottages, Arc de Triomphes, and Skeleton Attacks. Each transaction over $75 spend after all discounts to get the Potter promo. Only one store put up a fuss about limiting 1 HP promo per customer. The rest were happy I was buying everything.3 points

Doesn't matter. Do 1 at a time. Even then u might get banned. Just back from 2 stores. Didn't know about sale even til I get to chechkout and every other Minnie's b 4.97. Snagged enough stuff to get 1 hp promo at each store. Second store played dumb about promo on shelf at checkout and said the $75 promo was over. So I said well then I'd like to buy them and she said u can't. Did my best stink eye and said sounds like we have a problem and I need a manager NOW! She rang it up nbd. 1 penny Have a nice day.3 points

Barnes & Nobles has a buy one get one 50% off deal right now on select Lego. Stack on the membership savings, and this is pretty good for the Mini Cooper. https://www.barnesandnoble.com/b/buy-1-get-1-50-off-select-lego/_/N-2s3i3 points

Guys, please stop posting links to obvious scam sites. These are plentiful, especially during the Holiday season. At best, you get your money back from their payment processor (e.g. Paypal), which over time causes fees to rise for all of us. But you could fare way worse - with CC and contact details stolen, some fishy stalling scheme to get you out of refunds, or shipping you bogus bricks. Please STOP.3 points

This is a follow up to the £100 haul I showed in the 'what set did you buy today' thread (picture below). I've sold most of it, including all the sets with a value of £50 or above. Overall, this has done extremely well. I've made over £1500 in sales. Taking into account the initial cost, shipping, Bricklink costs and fuel, I've made over £1200 profit. I even still have probably at least £200 worth of sets I haven't sold yet (e.g., 4181, 4182, 7965, 4737). This has been a great project, and I can only hope to be so lucky as to get another find half as good as this in the future! EDIT: Whoops, just realised I forgot about Paypal fees. That's probably about £60. I'll make more than that back with the rest!2 points

True. Yet after the new year, the cancellations will stop and Walmart will welcome resellers with open arms so they can unload old inventory. No way to treat a friend. LOL2 points

Of all the fees, the October storage fees are the worst. For those of us with large businesses and no employees, we need to load in our stock in Sept/Oct to sell in November and December. There aren't enough hours in the day to wait until November to send it all in, not to mention all the new opportunities that start popping up in November.2 points

I'm hoping so. My "ghetto" Walmart and "hillbilly rural" Wal-Marts still have pretty full shelves.2 points

The in store signage doesn't mention a limit. It would be difficult to enforce in store. Since it applies automatically as opposed to them having to scan a coupon/separate item, there's nothing for the cashier to read that says "one per customer". And since it applies multiple items in one transaction, etc etc. it DOES say cannot be combined with other offers, so a cashier could say, not give you the Harry Potter pack if they were feeling stingy about it. I only went to one store, but I've never had an issue at any store with these sorts of promotions in the past. Of course, I assume most folks here will want to maximize. Though I did buy an $80 and $70 set and $15 and $10 set as I couldn't find things to pair with. Also, if you buy 6 $10 items, the discount applies properly to the whole purchase, issue only pops up with different prices.2 points

I told my wife about it yesterday after my order updated to "shipped" but I still don't know where I'm going to put the box, let alone build the set. She wasn't as concerned once I told her how much of my Christmas LEGO sales I was planning to use for paying our cc bill.2 points

Not a coupon. When you are a member you get 10% off anything you buy in store. All they need is your membership card or phone number to verify membership Technically there is no limit on Bogo in store. Some stores may have overactive managers who put some arbitrary limits on purchases2 points

I'm wondering if we're going to have one h*** of a post-Christmas clearance this year at Wal-Mart given the huge number of sets expected to be released in January. They've got to make room for all that new inventory. Followed by the movie release in February there could be some great selling going on. Of course, if some of the big Wal-Marts rollbacks we've been seeing are to try and clear a lot of that inventory direct from the warehouse before it even hits the store that might have a slight impact on post-Christmas clearance in-store. Still, I have high hopes for December 26 through January buying and a good February through April selling period.2 points

If you shipped via priority mail you are covered up to $50 if you file an insurance claim through USPS. They usually process them quickly. I’d offer to refund the buyer and send them a prepaid label if you want the item back. Let them keep it otherwise, with the refund. EBay’s money back guarantee means you will take returns regardless of your policy. I’d do this to avoid a snad claim. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum mobile app2 points

No threats of bags full of used dildos for me (where would you even get that?), but it has been a very profitable year. I almost doubled my sales from last year and blew way past what I had originally projected for the year. Got all of my debt paid off and will be starting 2019 with a big pile of inventory. This is why I laugh when I read so many of the gloom-and-doomers here talk about how the sky is falling, how we are in the end times of Lego reselling, blah, blah, blah.2 points

As this year comes to a close, we have much profit to be thankful for. 12 months of buying, selling, and dealing with the wonderful customers. Was there anything special for you that stood out this year? A great deal on an item to flip? Flip something for an out of this world profit? A special customer who really made your year? A special buy was finding someone's hidden stash of First Order Star Destroyers. A special sale was flipping 50 x 75119 Jyn Erso Buildables for a $450 profit I also had a very "special" buy on eBay that offered me a bag of used marital aids. Thankfully he didn't deliver. Everyone else have a fun and profitable 2018?1 point

FYI, Amazon is shipping out 10261 Rollercoasters for those who snagged them at 325.99 a few days ago...delivery by Christmas Eve instead of expected Q1 2019.1 point

The point of the store is to be profitable, not sell stuff. Stores will ultimately make more money from 12 satisfied customers (who will return and presumably purchase lots of other higher margin items) than from 1 reseller (who will mercilessly plunder low margin sales and clearance and perhaps purchase a few other higher margin items).1 point

I had a very similar experience experience with a woman who blew her lid when the 100 or so piece mountain patrol car she paid $80 arrived and she said she was “ripped off”, etc and demanded a return. I agreed and then 6 hours later she wrote back apologizing and that she had checked that that was the actual item she had ordered and didn’t realize something so small could be worth so much and she ended up keeping it.1 point

This doesn't necessarily show that the sky isn't falling, what is does seem to show is that you clearly have an impressive gift/ability (and a very strong work ethic).1 point
