Cool set but I'm disappointed they didn't use a shield for the face.5 points

This is my hometown and I'm excited to hear about this. I don't have any other architecture sets but will have to buy one of these. Thoughts: Ugh, I can't believe they included the new ugly Salesforce Tower. The dang building is such an eyesore to the existing skyline. Coit Tower looks a bit phallic. I like that they included the Painted Ladies. Alcatraz looks amazing. As another member mentioned before, the Sentinel Building would've been a nice inclusion. The old Bank of America Building at 555 California is a nice addition. It's not as well known as other landmarks here in SF, but the locals know it. The Ferry Building with its clock would've been nice to have. I think it would've been pretty easy to incorporate into the narrow build. Here's a picture from my office this morning. Our signature overcast weather with a view of the old Bank of America and Transamerica buildings.4 points

Maybe it's declined or the vehicles and characters LEGO has to design sets off of has declined.3 points

... and just like that, Angry Birds Castle comes back into stock at Target. Redcell must have gone deep into those, ?3 points

I can't imagine going to a mall a week before Christmas, fighting some crazy grandma for a parking spot, and waiting in a long line to spend $75 to get a free box of rejects But I have most of those minifigs in stock, except for Deejay (due to principle) so I am biased3 points

They're just saving you from making a big mistake by investing in Nexo ....3 points

To me, just look at the set itself. The Brick Bank is a nice looking build. It is also a bank, which every town needs. People always assume early retirement is about sales. Sometimes it’s about cost of producing a set vs. the return of selling it. I think the Town Hall was an expensive set to produce for LEGO. Maybe the Brick Bank is a similar situation. Decent sales, but it didn’t make LEGO enough money to keep around.3 points

With all due respect...and I mean that...The best years of LEGO investing and reselling were right in the middle of the last "great" recession. Do we have to go over all of this again? LOL2 points

Actual packaging excellence: my Mack Anthem from IWOOT arrived in a properly sized box, wrapped in bubble wrap, with a light sprinkling of air pillows, just enough to cushion, not enough to crush. Top job!2 points

What on earth quantities are you guys ordering? I have been going with small bursts. 6 in one order, 9 in next, etc mixing up different SKUs in each order a few times a day. I managed to dodge the Wally and Target hammers using this method, or at least I've convinced myself it's working. They may just view me as a weirdo LEGO guy who likes to set up large scale battles between Steve and Rapunzel with one side set in Paris and London and the other on a farm just outside Chicago. EDIT: Okay, so $25K over 8 orders. A little less sneaky than 6 per order.2 points

With two skylines coming out in January, it seems like time to start the official thread for the upcoming San Francisco set. I'm pleased to share the first review of the set, from my Brick Architect website. LINK: http://brickarchitect.com/2018/review-21043-lego-san-francisco-skyline/ The relevant details for the BrickPicker audience is that it is a very attractive set once built, and I believe it will be of interest both to collectors and people who have a fondness for San Francisco. I suspect resale will be good when discontinued, especially since the San Francisco Bay Area is packed with wealthy tech employees, and it would make a great gift. I'd love to hear your impressions of the new set! ---tom2 points

This is not a set to hold for years. Another fire station is always around the corner. Make money now and reinvest.2 points

Just in disguise. I like this set, but I liked the Sea Cow too and that thing went no where.2 points

Needs something... I know, Lord Dark Helmet descending from her nose and three apes on horse back. I do like the set though.2 points

Maybe after Christmas TLG will have a reversed promotion where buyers of the Boba Fett alarm clock get the Cloud City set as a GWP.1 point

KMart.com still has it - $129.99 minus 15% with code YULE - so $110.50, plus whatever points you have as a regular SYW member.1 point

Passed on all Star Wars today at Target. If it was a few years ago ide arm sweep them all. Times are different now and the game is changing.1 point

Very likely a MOC, for several reasons: 1. There is no set featuring this 2x4x2 Trans-clear windscreen that contains a build like this taxi. 2. There are no 1x2 Tiles in black with an "LQJ389" license plate sticker 3. STAMPS like the back window are not commonly done like this in official LEGO sets 4. The front features stickers OVER stickers (unless the license plate and the grille sticker are part of one sticker, but from what I can see the license plate is a separate sticker OVER the grille sticker) 5. This is a 4-wide car build, which LEGO phased out in the 90-ies, but it features a SNOT window technique on the side that LEGO wouldn't have put into a car build aimed at young children at the time. 6. The gap in the roof would have never been allowed in an official build (unless a piece is missing from the car).1 point

you have no need to apologize for. its totally not yours or anyone elses fault here.1 point

They should have ditched the Salesforce tower (ugly as hell and it's not recognizable) and included Lombard (crooked) street. The Sentinel building would have also made for a nice little micro build.1 point

Used the 30% off Brickheadz Cartwheel coupon to pick up a few BHz: 41619 Darth Vader $5.59 (it was already on sale for $7.99) 41621 HP Ron and Dumbledore $13.99 41631 HP Fantastic Beasts $13.99 41616 Hermione $6.99 Will these be available cheaper? Of course they will. But at least 30% off is a good threshold for me with BHz. They're cheap enough that I'm not going to worry about the extra dollar or two I might save if I wait, since these are just for personal build. Investment wise, I'll wait until they drop a lot more.1 point
