KMart has 15% off all Toys in-store. Not too bad if you have FREECASH and current cashback deals. A local store was running $10 back on $30. First, you need to find a KMart. Second, you need to find something worthwhile to buy. My store only has little old ladies at the registers, so checkout takes about a 15 min after you get to the till. The 15% off is a coupon they have to scan at the register. I'm not sure why they have little old ladies running registers for the most convoluted rewards and checkout system on the planet.4 points

Best Buy seems to be having an online sale of 25% - 30%. Most of their sets are small and not regularly priced higher than $50 - $60 USD. In the Star Wars, Minecraft, Super Heroes categories. Porg monstrosity and Minecraft Crafting Box are highest priced and sold out. Best Buy toys LEGO Filter2 points

It always your own call, but for me, 30% off for something I definitely want for personal build is a good threshold. Sure it might hit 40% or more off, but is an additional 10% off worth gambling for a set that you really want that you can guarantee to be in your hands? I’m willing to gamble on a lot of sets that are marginal for me to pick up for personal build because they just aren’t worth it it for anything less than 40-50% off (or more). But the stuff I picked up today - I’ll take at $21 without worrying about whether I can get it at $18 maybe in a few months.2 points

I went through and looked at the night Toy's r us put up some insane sales last December. While I was being an idiot purchasing Jestro's volcano Lair and some Ninjago Cave no one ever heard of. I also snagged a lot more Volvo 160EW then I initially realized. Here's an Interesting reflection on past deals. Volvo 160EW Current: 179.40 Cost: 60.12 Fee's 33.40 Margin 47.8% Profit 85.78$ 41130 Friends Roller Coaster Current: 179 Cost: 61.47 Fee's 37.43 Margin 44.5% Profit 79.87$ Lego Xerion Claas 42054 Current: 167.40 Cost: 94.50 Fee's 36.75 Margin 21.50% Profit: 36.15 Jestros Volcano Lair Current: 229.99 Cost: 64.30 Fee's 44.50 Margin 52.69% Profit: 121.19 Based on Jestro's slow selling rate and recent boost in prices, you couldn't have gone wrong purchasing much besides the Xerion and ninjago cave thing.2 points

Been slowly getting the parts for the 5004590 bat-pod, which is now complete. I reckon it stands me in about £65 so am gonna build and display it for a while before shifting on as a complete set. Not a batman fan as such, but i must say I’ve been looking forward to having these last few bits - and if I can build something and double my cost what’s not to like!2 points

All but the Shuttle were widely available during clearance for 75% off that year. But then so were the Minecraft releases. Which makes the point nicely.1 point

1. Kylo Ren Shuttles - Stagnant, too many people panicking and the market will be flooded. Prime for a remake (probably smaller), since the last one was mediocre 2. Tie Fighters - Performing like a Tie Fighter 3. First Order Transports - Prime for a remake, will be shorter hold 4. Clone Turbo Tanks (not part of the official movie release but released around the same time) - Peaked at about $150-$170 for the last similar release, so I have modest expectations here 5. Tie Strikers - Interesting vehicle, but will peak at about $100 like other Tie Fighters 6. AT-TE - WTH is that thing, Chima?1 point

For that size of set, I bite at 30% off for personal build. If it's a set I'm not that excited about, I wait until 40% or 50% (and just pass if it doesn't make it there). For sets that are smaller (such as a $10 set), I bite at 20% off for personal build, typically.1 point

I don't know about widespread, but Amazon has been known to markdown by 40% when a set is close to retirement. 60052 was down to $120 a couple times within a few months prior to retirement. Guessing that'll be another ~16 months before we see that though, as trains seem to run 2 years.1 point

I built the 6212 X-Wing Fighter today that I bought on EBay recently, 100% complete with box and instructions (~ $35 shipped). First off, I like the box art that has a pseudo 3-D effect and makes the X-Wing Fighter pop. It was a fun build with normal repetitiveness of building the wings. Two features that I really like – 1) how the fuselage connects to the x-wings structure and 2) the gear system that gradually opens and closes the wings into and out of the X-wing formation. For 2) this system is better IMO than the 9493 X-Wing Fighter system that snaps out of the X-wing formation, which I also own. The 6212 seems slightly longer than the 9493 (6212 set is on the left in the picture below). The engines on both are very comparable, with the 9493 being better because of the detail on the guns. The engine intake, even with the stickers, is better on the 9493 along with the white 1 x 4 tiles on the top of the engines that give them a more finished appearance. I am glad I bought the 6212 to add to my X-Wing collection that also includes 75102 Poe’s X-Fighter and the 75149 Resistance X-Wing Fighter.1 point

Pretty simple. I buy from Target and not Walmart. If a retailer questions why I buy something, I no longer use them. Target and Amazon make it easy. Walmart has lost my business. Do they care? No, but if enough people like me leave, they will care.1 point
