  1. Just an FYI, the B&N return window is only 14 days unless they have an extended holiday return period. It is also frowned upon (by at least some of us) to abuse store return systems including using them as a way to hedge your quick-flip bets. Making mistakes, learning from them, and growing to love Joker Steamrollers are all part of the reseller game.

  2. FYI - got the Blinq Batman caves in. I think the mailman was unhappy as they came in four huge boxes and he put it so I couldn't get out my door! All sealed and no real problems with any boxes. Unbelievable value for parting out at that price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. This whole VIP Black Card stand process is a debacle. This stand should be free after buying the $800 set early in it's release. It's another way to suck more money out of us by spending more than $35 for free postage. At the very least, the stand should have been offered during the Black Friday weekend sale What a sad joke LEGO Marketing has become. Despite having great consumer service, LEGO certainly turned into one <insert here> company. Update: the disgust in me got to the point that I just called LEGO and explained my frustration with the whole Black Card item in 4 sentences. The rep listened and stated other folks today also called to complain. I explained it wasn’t about the money to spend but the principle itself. The rep offered to take my unique # from that email and is having the stand shipped to me w/o a purchase

  11. Hardly. I'm selling Supermarket and Puppy Day Care for 2.5x RRP, Foals Washing Station for 3x RRP, and Puppy Pampering for 4x RRP. Others aren't doing as well as those, but you should at least try to be somewhat accurate when laying out your latest glass-half-empty drivel. Sent from my SM-G965U using Brickpicker Forum mobile app

  24. it depends on the theme and the set. imo for B&N, getting the HP figs makes all the difference because you can sell them off right away, which reduces your buy-in price on those sets. the sets that are 50% off are marked down as such for a reason, so by themselves without the figs, other than the Coast Guard Headquarters, I'm not sure there are any that are considered a "sure thing"

  26. Just got off phone with LEGO USA CS. She placed a specific order for me to receive the Black Card Promo set. She informed me that if the order auto-cancels it is because it is showing oos, but NOT to panic. She assured me that anyone who qualifies for this set and places a qualifying order (SW stuff) will get the set. She also admitted that all their lines were currently busy which is "very unusual for this time of a Friday morning." Additionally, she told me the promo went live at Midnight. I told her I didn't receive my email until 5 AM. She even admitted this is a somewhat fitting end to the SW MF Black Card promo... lol.... *sigh*

  28. This is a legit seller. I’ve purchased most of my Ryobi power equipment from them for 70% off or higher. All are marked as refurbished, when in reality it is simply damaged boxes or returned items. As for lego, I’ve made around six purchases. If the title says “Brand New” then you are generally in good shape. “Damaged box” or “like new” is a turkey shoot. I’ve received crushed boxes and at least one order of a set with no box, just polybags. The nice thing is they have a 90 day no hassle return policy. I’ve used it without issue. These guys are located next to the WM HQ in Arkansas so it doesn’t take a genius to figure out where they are sourcing a lot of their stock. I suggest going to their actual website and browsing the inventory there— it is usually a lot more than eBay! They also like to give away 10% coupons. Watch the pricing on their site. They tend to stagger markdowns a dollar or two per day until it sells. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum mobile app

  31. well, I went to a store, which I routinely bought lego from, during my lunchtime break. Checked out with $250 worth of lego and got 3 HP promos as planned. Then here comes the interesting part, the person who checked me out happened to be the manager and he said he saw me purchased lego a lot (truth) from time to time and he thanked me for bringing biz to his store. As a token of thanks, he grabbed a couple more HP promos and put them in my bag, so instead of 3 promos, I got 8 ?

  38. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ELI5 Make the explanation of what you're doing simple and clear because I, like our Big Ten friend, have no idea what you're trying to accomplish that requires such complexity. @lodibricks approach kind of makes sense but I don't think people care about store/user names in that way. I have a LEGO-themed name and sell other toy and hobby stuff. I also buy with the account. What makes more sense to me is having separate business and personal accounts for liability reasons. ETA: and for that, you'd also want to have separate PayPal accounts to separate the funds.

  39. Ha, I like how this turned into "why" instead of the original "how." I have two accounts, one for strictly LEGO and one for selling randomness or buying. Nothing shady about it. I just felt it'd be out of place if I had a LEGO-themed name and 99% LEGO, but one Barbie or other toy among the mix, so it'd make sense to me. It'd bad enough I have one or two Mega Bloks, but at least those are still bricks. @stackablesIn attempting to answer your question, my two eBay accounts have different usernames and registered email addresses, but I believe everything else is the same (name, mailing address, even the PayPal account).

  41. "If it was easy everyone would do it" - I don't mean this to come off as condescending, but there are no easy answers. I have been doing this for several years, and I am still learning, adapting, and refining my processes. I am sure several of the vets here would echo that sentiment. But there are tools, sites like this one, and others, that can help you learn and grow. But like most things, the best teacher is practice. Even without insider info, there are ways to make educated guesses as to what is retiring - there are some predictable trends, and not so predictable trends - For example, we know what themes LEGO is still using in 2019, and we can see that "LEGO Batman Movie", "Cars", "NEXO Knights" and "Elves" are not among them - so we know those sets are retiring. From themes that are continuing, such as DC Super Heroes, LEGO typically only has one BIG SET (140 ish price point) for each super hero line, currently Flying Fox for DC And the Sanctum for Marvel. Flying Fox has been out for a year and a half (Release dates available on Brickset.com), so it's an educated guess to assume that set is on its way out, even without having any other info. Some other info we do have on this set however is that it's been cleared out from most major retailers at steep discounts. That also can usually be taken as a sign of something retiring. Every set retires eventually. Some sets bring better returns than others at a different timeline and for different storage spaces. All those nuances are things you'll have to figure out yourself. From my example above, I think most serious LEGO investors are shying away from most LEGO Batman Movie and Cars sets, even at steep discounts. Elves seem to be a mixed bag, and I find NEXO Knights interesting. After the relative flop that I consider most of CHIMA to be, I avoided a lot of NEXO - And some of those sets have actually appreciated quite well - and I just haven't put much into the theme. But as someone else said, you can't buy it all. And some decisions will be winners, some will be losers. If you have more winners than losers, you're doing well. Personally, I have more Joker Steamrollers and Gorzan Gorilla Strikers than I care to admit. But I have far more Gorilla Grodd goes Bannanas and Joker Manors to make up for it. And here's the thing, MOST "losers" still sell for close to MSRP, so if you bought at a decent discount, 40% or more - You're still going to make a few bucks or come out even. That's one of the things I like about doing this, since at worst you are likely to break even - It's a pretty decent risk. The sets I have bought over the years that sold for less than MSRP 2-3 after retirement I can count on one hand. If I were to give advice to someone just getting involved, I would say this: Have a budget and a plan. Don't overspend. Be realistic. And definitely do not buy every set that's retiring or every set that's 50% off. THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO BUY. There are better/more efficient ways to go about it all, but as we all keep echoing - things are changing constantly. The Amazon gating thing is kind of a big deal. I don't even know if I *could* start doing this today with a goal of making money. Once you're already entrenched and have a system/rotation, it's a different game. Even as someone who has done this a while, and who (I consider) to have decent success, I would be lying if I said I totally understood it. I really thought 31038 Changing Seasons was going to be successful, and it has turned out to be pretty much a dud (even though I personally love the set). I would have never guessed that a set like 31032 Red Creatures would have been the smash that it is, but I ended up with a fair amount of them anyway. You are here, which is a major step. I was doing this for years before I discovered this site, and the information and experience found here have been instrumental in helping me grow. So from here, I'd say do a little research, dip your toes in, and see how it goes.

  42. Not essentially today but finally after months of planning, ordering multiple times from brick-link, buying from PaB walls in store, redesigning, restructuring, testing, balancing, rebuilding, destroying by accident... I was finally able to finish my extremely frustrating but fantastic project of mounting this extremely fragile but adorable baby on the wall. 75192 is mounted on a solid TV-Mount (plate) attached to the wall with custom extended 4 point weight distribution bolts to keep it well balanced across the mid-structure without putting to much pressure on single section of the chassis. With some extra changes to the weight and centre-balance I was able to give it little more angular aspect to get more "air" on the bottom. Clearance on the top to the wall is about 1.5cm and bottom 6.5cm. That clearance on top and bottom gave me a little more leeway in designing the schematics for lighting kit. After testing with number of different lighting setups I came up with this as a final design. I wanted to give it on the bottom an extra push of light for obvious reasons :) Lighting is fully programmable with already programmed by me ignition sequence - flashing white lights -> red quick ignition pulse -> blue light -> blue light fading in/out. whole thing is remote controlled. reference: https://youtu.be/jPEYpryMp2s?t=75 + custom made sockets (under bottom engine outlets on left and right) for 2x 10 000 mAh Powerbanks to juice the lighting kit because from very beginning I wanted to avoid the cable management situation and keep it as clean as possible. And here it is.. I'm proud but exhausted and tired with whole thing... hope you gonna like it
