  1. Slightly over a year ago I posted this: After this interaction he moved off to a different route and I stopped seeing him. About five months ago I bought my first house (yay me!). Moved about 10 miles away in the same town. Today, I swung by my house during lunch to finish up a shipment and grab the 40 boxes scheduled for delivery. As I'm loading my truck... THE SAME UPS GUY PULLS UP ?? He doesn't say anything to me (like usual after the incident). So I broke the ice by saying, "Are you stalking me?" His dead pan face immediately turned into one of rage.

  2. $200 shipped on eBay. All used. Seller says they are complete, they certainly look so in the pictures. Seller was very responsive and when I asked, she said she would put each set in individual ziplock bags versus mixing them. 41078 Skyra's Mysterious Sky Castle 41172 The Water Dragon 41173 Elvendale School of Dragons 41175 Fire Dragon's Lava Cave 41176 The Secret Market Place 41178 The Dragon Sanctuary 41179 Queen Dragon's Rescue 41180 Ragana's Magic Shadow Castle 41183 The Goblin King's Evil Dragon I was saving at least one of these for a future daughter (have 2 boys now) if we have one. Elves > Friends. Now I can unload my last NIB 41178 and 41176 that I was saving, as well as continue to sell the rest of my copies of the other sets with reckless abandon.

  3. All of have likely had to deal with fruitcakes, etc. on the various selling platforms we use and it can be real pain. On the other side equation, it always great when someone appreciates what we do and lets us know. In some way, we are Santa. Here is message I got last night on BrickLink after working with a customer on the sale of a 41179 Queen's Dragon Rescue set: "Thank you so much for your quick responses and smooth transaction. This is my first order through BrickLink. My daughter will be so thrilled to get this dragon under the Christmas tree this year! She has been asking for it for a very long time. I was crushed when I discovered it was retired. But I am so thankful to have found BrickLink. Thank you again! Have a wonderful holiday season! And thank you for the shipping refund. That was very kind of you!"

  4. It's apparently raining old Elves sets this week. Purchased this over the weekend. The seller seemed legit, but I wanted to wait for it to arrive before I shared. The seals checked out, and the weight was correct. Brand new copies of 41176 The Secret Market Place 41178 The Dragon Sanctuary $103.99 Not the wow price of the last one, but it certainly should provide a comfortable profit.

  9. It's like the old joke...I asked my wife what she wanted for Christmas, she said a divorce, I told her I didn't want to spend that much.

  10. I remember showing my son the price for NASDAQ:COKE this summer: $130. I showed him a quick graph and did a valuation on the spot but didn't pull the trigger. Five months later it's at $210. I'm not sure what lesson I taught him, if any.

  15. Had a customer complain that I invoiced too quickly and they didn't think it was real. (I waited 2 days before inquiring on status of payment) Yep, not sure how I can improve here. One for the story book. I'll chalk that one up as "my bad"

  18. What does it actually weigh? If it's 14 and you only paid for 11 then I wouldn't do it. They may not catch it, but if they do they will charge the addressee the difference before they deliver the package. That could lead to negative feedback if it's an Amazon or eBay sale. I'm not sure what the tolerance is for the USPS weight discrepancies on packages.

  22. Yeah it's gonna be the same garbage as the one before because they vastly oversupplied everything and didn't actually sell much because even at supposedly half price it was mostly junk. There are whisperings of a 3 for 2 coming in 2 weeks but without direct who cares really. They have advent calendars on stacks with a reduced to clear sign, the reduction? 10% off, like seriously are you even trying anymore.

  24. Just FYI and YMMV, I was having all my Walmart orders cancelled just prior to and on Black Friday. Suspecting that this might just be a temporary thing, I dipped my toe back in with a small order on Tuesday. Lo and behold it shipped. So it may well be that Walmart was trying to hold back resellers only over Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Anyone else have the same experience? My account with Walmart is tax-exempt.

  25. For the three of you on here who aren't banned by Walmart, you may want to make a trip into the Pick-Up area of your local store. Mine had a stack of 10% off coupons with individualized codes for online orders.

  28. you will need to recall, inspect, and if you think you have a case for reimbursement you will need to open one with seller support. So recall first before you do anything and take it from there.

  38. Sold a Pet Shop for $400 CDN on Amazon. Buy in was $230 after tax (plus I think I got a promo and double VIP points) which was regular price because I was buying it just before it disappeared and wasn't sure if I wanted a second one for my city or to have it for resale. After Amazon fees and shipping I will make a $100 profit on this "flat" set. Thank you Christmas shopping season.

  39. I learned a few years ago ( on this forum) that packages magically start moving again as soon as you sign up for text/email alerts for the package in question. Worked like a charm again 2 weeks ago when a LEGO Shop at Home package inexplicably got stuck in the same status as you mentioned above. Just go to the tracking page and look on the right hand side of the screen for notification options. I typically select them all.

  41. My youngest son has been working hard on selling some of his old sets and helping ole' Dad to earn extra money for the last few months. His ultimate goal was to save enough to buy the UCS Falcon. Well....thanks to good ole' Dad and Offer Up today, we scored him a BNIB UCS Falcon with the handle and wheels on the box in perfect condition for $600! An awesome score and an ecstatic kid!! I'm proud of his stick-to-it-iveness. I wish I had that kind of fiscal responsibility!! Awesome lesson learned!!

  42. Today I tried something different and set up a Lego booth at a local indoor flea market that is held three times per year. I advertised on local Facebook buy/sell groups for about a month leading up to the sale. It seemed to drum up a lot of interest since many people told me that my booth was the only reason they came to the sale. I choose this particular date since it’s right before the holiday shopping season and advertised it as such. Pros...the sale was located less than a mile from my home, so very minimal transportation issues. Lots of traffic and networking opportunities. I had some business cards printed up and handed them out. Cons...lots of prep, from pricing research to literally pricing everything, boxing everything up for transport, set up, and take down. Also, the sale only ran for six hours, from 8am-2pm. Would have been nice to go to at least 4pm. My goal was to focus on small stocking stuffers to medium sets that are priced well for gifting, and it seemed to work. I brought a few large exclusives, but mainly just to draw attention to the booth. I priced my retired sets about 20-35% below eBay sold prices, and my non retired sets below regular retail, while still maintaining an acceptable margin. Surprisingly, I didn’t have many people trying to negotiate, as many realized my pricing was more than fair. I was a little worried about that since it was a flea market / garage sale type environment. In six hours I did just over $900 in sales, mostly the small to medium sized sets I was hoping to move. All in all it was a pretty decent experience, which I will most likely try again in the future. The next sale is in January, which I’ll skip. The following sale after that is in March, which should be a decent opportunity since people will be getting their tax returns and will have some extra cash to spend.
